John, A big warm hug of welcome. Many years ago, you encouraged me not to give up at my attempt to read that first film, and to think of it as learning how to read Spanish...again.
Since then, I have researched many of my lines, and I am back to the mid 1600's.
Thanks again.

Hello Everyone,
My name is Ann Rubio Valdez and I am a new member to the Nuestros Ranchos
group. My research is primarily in Jalisco in the areas of Ocotlan, Jamay,
San Diego de Alejandria, & Arandas. Surnames I am searching for are Rubio,
Vargas, Vasquez, Torres, Flores/Jimenez. My father was born in Ocotlan in
1922. He died when I was young so I do not have many details about his
family and life. My file can be found under Ann Rubio. The direct link to
my file on the website is
http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/filemanager/active?fid=2110. I did find some
connections to my father (an aunt and a great-aunt) but I did not know how
to fit them on my pedigree chart.
I am hoping to find any information on my father's ancestors. Please
contact me if anyone has any connection to my family. Any leads are
welcome.
Sincerely,
Ann Rubio Valdez

Ann,
Like you, I am among the brand new members of the Nuestros Ranchos group.
For this reason at the present time I have not much to offer to help in your
search. But I think I will, because you and I share the interest in
searching two surnames: Vazquez and Vargas.
My maternal grandmother was Josefina VARGAS Salmeron (4/28/1908 -
10/16/1981), born in Cinco Minas, Hostotipaquillo, Jalisco. Married to
Filippo Olmo Dattrino (Italian) on October 12, 1925. Daughter of Cesareo
VARGAS Carrillo and Gregoria Salmeron)
My paternal grandfather was Jose Michel VAZQUEZ (2/6/1897 - 10/10/1990),
born in Autlan, Jalisco. Married to Luz Lopez Pelayo. Son of Ricardo Michel
Becerra (1858 - 1950) and Guadalupe VAZQUEZ.
Good luck and stay in touch !!

I hope that you search your connection to the PELAYO family from: Luz Lopez
Pelayo
That is one other branch of the family that I can connect you with once you
find a few more ancestors.

HI My name is Brady Umfleet and I am researching my
wife's family. The surnames I am researching are
Velasquez and Macedo in Etzatlan, Jalisco.
Her grandmother was Maria DeJesus Velasquez y Macedo
born August 15th, 1900 or 1904 in Etzatlan, Jalisco.
She was the daughter of Lucio Velasquez and Juana
Macedo.
I have some film at the FHL that should help fill in
some details.

Felipe,
Thank you for your information. Do you know if your maternal grandmother
had any children by the name of Jose or Carlos? Although my father was
baptized in Ocotlan, Jalisco, I don't have any records showing where he or
his parents were born.
All I know of my grandparents is that Josefa Vargas died when my father was
very young and his father sometime after her. My father was raised by his
uncle Santos.
Thanks,
Ann Rubio Valdez

Ann,
My maternal grandmother married only once and she had three children:
Yolanda Olmo Vargas, Clara Olmo Vargas and Alberto Olmo Vargas.
Sorry, no children by the name of Carlos or Jose. However one of my
grandmother's brothers was Jose Vargas Salmeron, but do not know where he
was born, if he ever married nor if he had any children. If he did, the
chances that he named one of his children after him are not slim.
If/when I find out, I will let you know.

Saludos a todos los miembros de Nuestros Ranchos,
My name is Ramon, Barrios Miranda and am glad to be a new member of the group.
My grandfather's ( Juan Mejia Miranda) family was originally from el rancho de Señor de Roma, Jerez Zacatecas. He was in the U.S. from 1916 to 1933, when he return to Mexico they settled in Calera de Victor Rosales, Zacatecas. My mother's family (Barrios) are from Juancho Rey, Tepetongo, Zacatecas. They also settled in Calera. This is where my parents grew up,and later married. My wife is from there also, and we still have family there.
I took a break from my research for awhile, and now I'm trying to get back into it, back to the questions I left off at. Maybe someone from the group might be have some input.
I need to find to find records for a direct connection between Felipe and Pedro Miranda, and on back from there. So far, I've only found him referenced as the grandfather. I've been unable to find a marriage record for him and wife Maria Marcos Perez, or his two children, Esteban and Felipe ( why only two sons)? I need a direct connection to the right Pedro.

Hi Linda--
I just wanted to ask you a quick question-- I looked at your online family tree, and I saw the del Real last name. I have done extensive work on this family, and I see a connection between your del Real family and mine. Are your del Real relatives your ancestors? If so, we are related! So far, I have found that people with the last name of del Real in the Huejucar/Totatiche/Colotlan area descend from one couple from Spain.

Hi Rosalinda, no, all Del Rios are related by marriage only and not direct ancestors. I have them in Jalisco, Michoacan and Zacatecas but have not attempted to really research them, only what I've found online and if they happen to be in a film I'm researching.
thank you for checking, I do appreciate it. Lots of times if I can't connect a surname but have the surname in my records I still copy the record but just don't post it online.

So, in your tree you have Dionicio del Real--> Juliana del Real--> Marina Rodarte who married Clemente Castanon. This family is not related to you? :( Well, if you ever meet any descendants, they are related to me.
