Diaz Castellano
Dear Daniel Mendez del Camino,
I read where you stated that there were only three members of the nuestrosranchos group are descendants of the Diaz Castellanos family. You can add a fourth member as I just discovered that my wife descends from Maria Antonia Diaz Castellanos y Puga. Maria Antonia's father is Joseph Diaz Castellanos y Carrera. Joseph is the son of Juan de Dios Diaz de Castellanos, Juan de Dios is the son of Pedro Diaz Castellanos. Juan de Dios's marriage record is in 1710 so he and his father are born in the 1600's.
Even though a record is in Tepatitlan, it says that they are from Ayo el Chico.
I would welcome whatever information you can give me on the origins of the Diaz Castellanos.
Thanks,
Rick A. Ricci

Hi Reye,
My family is also partly from Moyahua. When you search, also look at Juchipila, Amoxochitl and Contitlan, Zac. I have a lot of Luna's in my tree from that entire area that are connected. The towns are very close to each other.
Also, a tip, anything can happen in a family tree... So don't walk away from the possibility of your other family also having a branch in Zac. My family went back and forth between Zac, Jal and Aguascalientes throughout the generations.
Suerte and welcome!

Diaz Family - Tepatitlan De Morelos, Jalisco, also Luna - Mayahu
Thank you for the tip Sandra. You are right, even though I have listed Moyahua as my grandmother's place of origin, she was actually from Pueblo Viejo del Municipio de Juchipilia. Also, I should note that I listed her maiden name as Juanita Magallanes Luna when her actual given name was Juana Magallanez Luna (1-6-1904). Juana's mother was named Albina Magallanez who was born abt. 1867. According to some original vital records that my family maintains on my granadmother (Juna Luna) her father was a C. FLorencio Luna who was 36 years (1865) old at the time of my grandmothers birth. My family who never knew him, as he did not migrate to the U.S with his wife, Albina Magallanez, believe his name was Florencio Luna.
Looking through Familysearch.org there is a a Albina Magallanes that was married to a Florentino Luna in 1881 and it also lists Abina Magallanes's parents as - Mother - Ma. Trinidad Benavides - Father - Guillermo Magallanez & Florentino Luna's parents to be Domingo Luna & Julia Avila. I will be commiting more time to this in the near future. I really appreciate your help and hope to be discussing my family, or our family, together in the future.

Hi there ,
My name is Welester G. Alvarado and I have a Maria Pascuala de Luna married to a Juan Pedro de Alvarado de la Cruz in the year 1790 in Saltillo , Coahuila . It is understood that many of the people from Jalisco , Zacatecas and Aguascaliente came to Coahuila as well as Nuevo Leon through the Ruta de Plata .
My question is this : Do you think that Pascuala could be related to any of your Lunas' ?
Thank you ,

Reye,
My name is Tony Diaz, wondering if our common surname may share an ancestor or two. My grandfather, Gerardo Diaz, was born in Momax, Zacatecas, ca. 1898. His parents were from Rancho de Contreras. I understand that Momax (close to Tlaltenango) is near the Jalisco border. Would Tepatitlan be in the vicinity? Have you had your DNA results posted with the Genographic project? Curious to know if we may be related, in spite of the commonality of our shared last name.

Diaz Family - Tepatitlan De Morelos, Jalisco, also Luna - Mayahu
Hey Tony, well I know my Granfather, Jose Maria Diaz was born around the same time as your grandfather, 1896 to be exact. However, my grandfather was born in Tepatitlan De Morelos, Jalisco, Mexico, not in the State of Zacatecas, were my grandmother, Juana Luna, was from. Also, as I have been briefly tracing my Diaz roots, it appears the Diaz familoy, for the most part, stayed in Tepatitlan, although my grandfather apparently deviated from that pattern. According to my long lost Cousin Daniel Mendez (look at the posts) he has advised me that the Diaz clan really never left Tepa. So, unless we can trace your grandfathers roots back to Tepatitlan, I'm not sure if he is going to link into my family line in Mexico.
However, I will take a look at the information you gave me and also keep an eye out for any possible links.

Reye,
My name is Tony Diaz, wondering if our common surname may share an ancestor or two.

Hello, I am new to the group and in the process of researching my father's family (Diaz) which is from Tepatitlan De Morelos, Jalisco. I have included what I know so far. I am still awaiting some records from the Family History Center. I will also be researching the Luna line in Mayahua De Estrada, Zacatecas as my father's mother was a Luna. I just wanted to post this message in case anyone just happens to have some information and/or I can be of any help in the future. Also, If I should post this information somewhere else, let me know. I also have this information entered into ancestry.com. Thank you for your time.Â

I am also related to the same Aceves in Tepa. Were double cousins! I made a mistake your Manuel Dias should be a grandchild of my gggggf Pedro Diaz Castellano he only had one son and the rest were daughters. His name was Joseph Diaz Castellano. I would definetly order the marriage for your manuel! Your manuel should have been born ca. 1725 or so and a great grandson; my mistake. Manuel should be a son of Joseph. I will look into this.

This is so exciting. My long lost cousin Daniel Mendez! I was hoping my post would generate a response. Didn;t know it would come so quick. I will definetly order the marriage records for Manuel. Now when you you are related to the same Aceves, do you mean Teresa De Asebes that was married to Nicolas Diaz Castellano?
Diaz Family - Tepatitlan
Hi Reye, Im not sure who she is but I know ALL aceves in Los Altos are related. They came from Spain, Their are only about 3 total people now in the group related to the Diaz Castellanos. You, I and I actually forgot the last person? This family never left Tepa. at least the main branch and only married into a couple families namly the Aceves, Alvarez, Velasco, and Quiros and Losa families. As a Spaniard I can say that my ancestors we rather racist! They usually married into other prominant Spanish families. And hardly at least in my case married the natives. I was nce told if the case ever happened they would make sure the next 3 generations would marry "white" to ensure a criollo. I dont like the fact that they saw them as inferior. According to my genealogy I have only one indian line. That is Moctezuma. One black or mulatto. All my other ancestors were European. I am very proud of my indian and black lines especially because I knew they are part of me and people who worke
d hard to maintain their families. As you keep going back, Im sure youll connect with the Esparza, Romo, Mendoza, Lomelini and other "important families" of Colonial Spain". For me I love genealogy it keeps me going in life even though I might be young
im filled with knowledge and desire.

Aceves Family -
Daniel Mendez,
My father's side of the family is Aceves. My grandfather: Emiliano Aceves Alva. Came to the border and change his last name to... only Alva.
But his father's was Leandro Aceves from San Juan de los Lagos, Jal. and his grandfather was Pedro Aceves. Do any of these name sound familiar to you?
Please advise,
Sam Alva

Yea, I will have to order that marriage record for Manuel Diaz (Joseph Manuel Diaz), as I am not finding anything that links him to Joseph Dias and/or Pedro Diaz Castellano. I tried the dob of 1725 and cannot find any birth records for Manuel Dias or any of the other last names that could have been used by him. Also, in regards to Pedro Dias, I was able to find a Pedro Dias born in 1660 in De Atotonilco, Jalisco, who also married a Augustina Albares in 1680. However, I do not see this same Pedro Dias being born in Spain? He also has the son named Joseph Dias. Is this the same Pedro Dias Castellano you are referring to?

Well this is very interesting I am descended from the same family Pedro Diaz~Castellano from from Spain who arrived in Mexico in the
ca. 1680? They made their way to Tepatitlan or firstly to Guadalajara as the story goes. Well, Reye your line isnt that far from the original trunk of the tree since you say your abt 1730 presently i would guess you Jose Nicolas is a grandson of our ancestor? I know im also confused as i type this. -Daniel del Camino
