Eduardo,
I found a record (in familysearch) for Miguel Gregorio Antonio Ignacio Hidalgo y Costilla,
ch. 8 May 1753, Bajito District, Nr Guanajuato, Mexico and his death 17 July 1812, Guadalajara.
Caso con Manuela Ramos Pichardo and his parents were Cristobal Hidalgo y Vendaval y Ana
Maria Gallaga Mandarte, married 15 Aug. 1750. Batch #8824461, Serial # 05. His parents
were from Distrito Federal.
Is this what you already have?

Does anyone have a copy of the actual christening record for Miguel Gregorio
Antonio Ignacio Hidalgo y Costilla? I have been searching for his christening
record but have come up empty handed. I am aware of the transcript of about
1829 that is found online but I would like to look at the copy of the original,
or if possible eventually the original. Does anyone have a copy or know where I
can find one? Unfortunately the Genealogical Society of Utah did not film the
dates of his christening.

Esther,
Thank you for the information but the record that you are referring to was submitted by an individual and is not part of the extraction projects of the LDS Church. Thus, it is less reliable unless the submitter has actual source information. These type of records say the following or something similar:
Messages: Record submitted after 1991 by a member of the LDS Church. No additional information is available. Ancestral File may list the same family and the submitter.
All of the historical accounts I read list Miguel Hidalgo as having been born in Corralejo, Guanajuato. Although sometimes what is written in the history books is wrong one cannot prove or disprove a "historical fact" without evidence. I am by no means saying that he was not born where he is purported to having been born. What I am saying is that I would like some proof.
Recently a colleague and I found that the historical information on the parentage of a couple of historical figures was erroneous. Another individual I researched was not born in the locality where they were said to have been born. So, I am still trying to verify the information for the birth and baptismal place of Miguel Hidalgo. If I cannot obtain an actual christening record then collaborative evidence will have to suffice, e.g. marriage documentation, death record, will, etc...
Again, I thank you for the information you provided; but I am a little weary of non-sourced information. I would definitely have to study the the information with caution.

Daniel,
The information is probably right. I just want to verify it. My colleague and I researched about 12 historically famous people in Mexican history and three of the twelve have the wrong information in the history books about whom their parents are or where they were born. Currently I am not able to divulge the information about the individuals, because the investigation is ongoing, and we will more than likely be publishing our findings. What I am saying is that you cannot trust the history books or any published genealogy unless there is factual proof, (source information that is verifiable by anyone).
