Haro
I have relatives from Zacatecas with the last name Haro. If you want to check out my tree to see if any of the names are familiar to you, it is under the name Aurelia Haro Robles in the member geneologies.
Haro
Thanks you I will.. is the last name De Haro or HAro?or is it the Same thing...?
Haro
Yup the same whenever theres a DE it just means OF,its more common with many place names in the colonial era but can be found out today. Order the record!

Haro
You will find the name listed in records as Haro, De Haro and Aro. I also have them in my records from Jerez. I have them on Rootsweb.com and my file name is Mexico. You can check the index for Haro. I just discovered a film I forgot to enter and will update when it's completed, it's baptisms for Jerez 1875 (0439856)
When I enter records I use a uniform spelling regardless of what the record says but then I put the record so you can see how they originally put it. In this case they are all Haro. My biggest problem has been Morillo/Murillo since every other record seems to be one or the other, very frustrating!
good luck in your search,
Linda in Marietta

I know exactly how you feel! I was stuck for a long time searching my Santelices. I had searched the logical misspellings: Santelizes, Santelises, and de Santelices. It took the help of Eduardo Seoane who found him under Santeliz ! After that, I got extremely creative and found some listed Sante Elises. All of these spelling variations have been found in Mexican IGI entries. I have traced them directly to Santander, Spain where the spelling has been consistantly Santelices, as I originally thought. So I'm not sure what to make of it. Alice
