Melchor Reynoso (b. ca. 1695) is the earliest documented Reynoso in the line I am researching in Jalostotitlán. I know it is widely assumed that he is the son of Sebastián Reynoso y Renteria and María Francisca Ramires de Hermosillo, who are documented many times over through the baptisms ((Mariana, Manuel, Francisco, and Juan Toribio) and marriages (Mariana, Miguel Geronimo, and Juan Toribio) of several of their children.
Melchor Reynoso married María de San Juan Gonsales Rubio ca. 1724. I have searched, frame-by-frame, the marriages from Jalostotitlán (FHL Film 279295) between 1720 and 1725, but have been unable to locate the marriage. The marriage is proved by statements in the subsequent marriage records of several of their children (Vicente Ceferino, Joseph Antonio, María Manuela, and Anna Francisca), but I have been unable to locate the 1724 marriage of Melchor.
If anyone has proof of either the marriage of Melchor Reynoso and María de San Juan Gonsales Rubio or the birth of Melchor (which should provide the names of his parents), I should be most grateful.
I have been deeply involved in the online Jalisco records at FamilySearch.org for about seven months and have made spectacular progress on many lines. I hope eventually to be able to provide assistance to others whose lines may cross the ones I am researching; but, in the meantime, I am deeply impressed by the level of research and documentation that is being done by members of this forum (to which, I am new).
Thank you, and good hunting,

Melchor Reynoso—need proof o f parentage (b. ca. 1695) and marri
Here's my two cents:
I found a Francisco De Reynoso y Padilla (1630-1689) married 1659 to
Josepha De Renteria y Baldes (1642-) in Guadalajara, Jalisco. They have
have many children and one of them is *Sebastian Reynoso Renteria
(1665-1744) in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco. He died April 11, 1744*.
I think Armando has all this information already.
Sebastian Reynoso Renteria (1665-1744) married Francisca Ramirez de
Hermosillo (1672-1738) in 1693, Nuestra Senora de la Asuncion, Jalostitlan,
Jalisco. They have many children. The first one listed is *Maria Ana De
Reinoso (1694) followed by Melchor (1695-1784), *plus others. It also
shows Melchor married to Maria de San Juan Gonzales Rubio (1705-).
Armando has great advice for you about looking for Informacion Matrimonial,
etc.

Melchor Reynoso—need proof o f parentage (b. ca. 1695) and marri
Based on the information Esther provided I figured she got that from the
old familysearch site which still has data submitted by the researcher
Jaime Holcombe Isunza. I searched it and found two records
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/IGI/individual_record.asp?recid=…
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/IGI/individual_record.asp?recid=…
Those records were likely submitted by Jaime Holcombe. If you order copies
of the sheets submitted you should see annotations of the source of
information that will include the name of the records such as Bautismo,
Matrimonio, Información Matrimonial, or Dispensa, the record numbers which
I still haven't figured out, and the year of the record. That way you can
try and hunt down everything Jaime Holcombe had when he submitted the
sheets. You can order copies of the records through mail or go online to
have the microfilm sent to your local family history center.
If anyone can tell me what those numbers in parentheses mean I would
appreciate it. Here is an example for a sheet Jaime submitted for the
family of Tomas Villalobos and Catarina Macias Valadez -
Sagrada Mitra de Guadalajara, Jalisco: Dispensas Matrimoniales (6118) 1749;
(6123) 1734; (6135) 1756; (6155) 1693; (6485) 1709; ........
Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes: Bautismos (17,062) 1635; 1637; 1641;
1643......Informacion Matrimonial (17,172) 1702..
Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco: Matrimonios (3670) 1656...........

Numbers on Holcomb FG Sheets
These are quite likely old or obsolete film numbers. The following is from the Family Search wiki:
Old Book and Film Numbers Used by the Family History Library
The Family History Library has used a few different way to number films and books since the library started in 1894. These numbers are now mostly found on old family group sheets for the sources for the data on the sheets. These old numbers for books and films are no longer used, so the current numbers for the books and films must be found.
There were three old numbering systems for books and three old numbering systems for films.

Thank you George. That makes sense now. It's unfortunate those numbers
can't be cross-referenced.

Melchor Reynoso—need proof of parentage (b. ca. 1695) and marria
Have you searched the Información Matrimonial volume in Jalos for the same
time period?
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18448-3102-9?cc=1874591&wc=1…
Have you looked at all of the dispensas that have been posted by Claudia at
www.guadalajaradispensas.com that involve surnames of children,
grandchildren, and great grand children of Melchor Reynoso and María de San
Juan Gonsales Rubio?
The following won't provide proof but can provide evidence of the
connection that has been assumed. These are things that are normally
associated with close family members. What are the names of the padrinos of
the baptisms and marriages? Are the children of Melchor born in the same
ranch or hacienda as Sebastián Reynoso y Renteria and María Francisca
Ramires de Hermosillo? Is Melchor mentioned in the baptisms of
grandchildren of Sebastián Reynoso y Renteria and María Francisca Ramires
de Hermosillo? This could mean he is an uncle or a cousin.

A suggestion
Based on your description of your research you may have done this already, but if not ...
Sometimes the matrimonial investigations will exist for a couple that you know were married, because all their children are "hijos legitimos", but for which you cannot find the marriage record. A check the matrimonial investigations will sometimes be successful. I have seen this in Aguascalientes.
Good luck!
