I would like to get more info on my grandfather--for one what is the correct spelling of his first name. It is difficult to read his name on the first document I found.
I need to thank all of you for your help in my searches. Once we got the baptismal on my mother---and the names of her parents, things begin to fall in place. I have found many of my ancestors and even found my father's baptismal in Leon, Gto. just by following the instructions given for a search. I am still searching but wanted to stop for a minute and thank you all. Armando, Arturo, Esther, Roy--to all the group
THANK YOU! MUCHAS GRACIAS....you've been great with this newbie.
Ann, do you have the image number, year, and place so that we can help
you? I think you will find several ways of writing his name. I look at
his siblings to see what spelling is used for their father/mother and I
choose by majority rule? Also in marriage records the name may vary as
well. I choose the name I like but I also keep the name on the record for
verification. That is just me. I'm sure others have better ideas.

Yes Esther, it is Image # 657 of 894. The name appears as Theserquio on the
document but I'm almost sure my sister said his name was Iziquiel Ezequiel.
Thank you so much.

Armando, again thank you for your help and support on my searches. I have
accomplished so much thanks to you guys pointing me in the right direction. I
finally found my grandfather after hours of searching...the reason I could not
find him---I was given the wrong name by my cousins. His real name was: Jose
Hexiguio Gutierrez. I don't know if it was that the priest did not know how to
spell Exequio but that is the way it was entered and I guess that is how it will
stay. If you can point me in the right direction again...I can't find anything
on my grandmother and I'll bet it is because I was given the wrong name again.
Where else can I search to find her? What I have is:
Maria Teresa Gomez, I don't have a date of birth, I do imagine she was born in
San Diego since all the others...aunts/uncles etc. all in San Diego. Is there
another way of searching. Thank you.

Who are you saying gave you the wrong name? The names are similar enough it
shouldn't have caused confusion. Over time you will see that you will have
to learn to not be so rigid because people that gave the names and the ones
that wrote them weren't so rigid in the pronunciation or the spelling.
There is no other way to look for the baptism or civil birth record other
than what Roy and I have given you. Not all of them can be found though and
you have to use what can be found.
Maria Teresa Gomez is definitely the right name for your grandmother. There
is no doubt. Her parents were Jesus Gomez and Porfiria Guerrero married 28

Armando, I see from the tone of your message that I've upset you. I did not say
you gave me the wrong name I distinctly said my cousins gave me the wrong
names. I made a wrong assumption in requesting assistance, I promise you it
won't happen again.

No, I wasn't upset in any way. I was simply stating facts. Yes, I do see
after all that you said it was your cousins that gave you the wrong name.
My mistake in overlooking that. However, that doesn't change that the name
was similar enough that it should not have caused confusion. Feel free to
continue asking for help.

What Armando was stating was that in our research into our ancestors we may find the same person with numerous different spellings and or different pronunciations. Or different variations such as Dorothea and Theodora

Gutierrez family search

Grandparets: Theserquio (sp?) or Izequiel Gutierrez, San Diego d

Nov 1883 in San Diego de Alejandría

Grandparets: Theserquio (sp?) or Izequiel Gutierrez, San Diego d
Armando, I see from the tone of your message that I've upset you. I did not say
you gave me the wrong name I distinctly said my cousins gave me the wrong
names. I made a wrong assumption in requesting assistance, I promise you it
won't happen again.

Nov 1883 in San Diego de Alejandría

No, I wasn't upset in any way. I was simply stating facts. Yes, I do see
after all that you said it was your cousins that gave you the wrong name.
My mistake in overlooking that. However, that doesn't change that the name
was similar enough that it should not have caused confusion. Feel free to
continue asking for help.

What Armando was stating was that in our research into our ancestors we may find the same person with numerous different spellings and or different pronunciations. Or different variations such as Dorothea and Theodora
