Hi Everybody,
My Name is Geri Shuster(Manriquez) and I have been a member for some time. I have watched, listened to comments, questions. I am a little intimidated you are so good at this, but am ready to ask for help from those of you on this site that are so very generous with your time.
I know that my Grandfather was SERAPIO MANRIQUEZ (from my dad's Juan B.'s birth record) Serapio was they say, b:14 Nov 1896, Lerdo, Durango, Mexico? I found this on his death record 13 Feb 1932 Clemenceau, Yavapai Co, Arizona) However, I can not find any information about him in Mexico, only records after he came to the U.S.(border crossing in 1916). My grandmother, his wife, was Francisca Badillo (Vadillo on her death record) which was filled out in the presence of her Mom and Dad(Francisco Vadillo and Cruz Alvarez). I am not able to find her birth, baptism, or their marriage records. I suspect that maybe their names may be different? I have talked with living relatives and they were not known by any other names that they are aware of. (I have tried to add-on Maria and Jose) Help!
I have gone back all the way to Spain on the Manriquez tree, however can we be sure that it is the right tree without verification of birth record or something that ties us to that line without proof?

This is a far as I have gone (my direct-line, there may be some mistakes, but I tried to verify all the records by more than one source, if possible. Hope you can help me verify my Grandfather Serapio's baptism or marriage. I THANK you all for you considerations.

Note: There is a record of Manuel Manriquez and Ma. Isabel Gomez having a child Je. Serapio Manriquez on 14 Nov 1895. Serapio had an older brother Manuel born in 1880 which would make him 15 when this child was born???

Please Help find Bapt.
Birthdays taken from old US death records may be right on day and month, but they may be off by several years. In this case, it is off by one year, he was born in 1895:

Dear Victoriano, how can only words tell you how very grateful I am for your generous help. I have been looking for Serapio's records for years. I can not read Spanish (I am ashamed about that) but am learning as fast as I can. You live so close, are you related to me, or any Manriquez family? I have wanted to visit my father's ancestral home for so long but never had a contact in Mexico to our family. Again, thank you! I did the happy-dance about this wonderful find. And it also proves my research has not been that bad for a newbie. Geri
Familia Manriquez
Hi Geri.
You are welcome! It wasn't that hard to locate knowing the birth place and approximate date since the baptism books from Lerdo have indexes at the end of each volume. There should also be a birth certificate in the corresponding civil records.
I don't have any Manriquez in my Laguna family tree (La Laguna is the region that includes Lerdo, Gómez Palacio, Torreón and nearby towns). The region has been settled only on the last 150 years or so, so pretty much all the families descend from people who arrived relatively recently, like the Manríquez.
Have a nice week!
