Hi Juan Carlos, just wondering if the de Leon is spanish for Lyon and is it possible they are related to the Lyon branch that sailed from England and settled in Roxbury Massachusetts in the 1630's. I am a descendant of that branch of the Lyon. I can trace my line back to the year 986.
Apparently the first spelling of the name was Leuoine from Normandy (France).
Later in England it was changed to "de Lyoun" and "de Lyon" and finally around 1300's just Lyon.
Good luck in your search.
I have alot of family from Huejucar, Jalisco. I would really like to see your tree but im facing some challeges. I visited the Rootsweb but there is no link, other than to visit Ancestry web page. Since im not a member of Ancestry I cant view anything. Can you please advice.

Jose, I guess you have to be a member of Ancestory.com in order to access that
website. I was interested in researching your tree since my Father's side of
the family was de Leon. He was born in Leon, Gto and I found his parents and
siblings and and my great-grandfather but then hit a blank wall. Was your
family from Guanajuato?

Joseph,
Have you posted the GEDCOM file online somewhere so we can look at it?
It sounds like an amazing resource that would benefit, well just about everyone working in that part of Nueva Galicia.

Family Tree
Although I'm not pleased with their software, I have it posted on RootsWeb.com
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/
My tree is found under "jalisco families" below is the direct http address

Jose Carlos de Leon
Family Tree
You should also upload it to Geneanet.org
I think you will find it has a nicer interface with more options, including both Spanish and English, and more people from Mexico and Spain use it.

RootsWeb.com does not require membership with ancestry.com. Perhaps all they need is your user name?

My Family Tree is too large way to post here on Nuestros Ranchos GEDCOM files
because, so far, my genealogy research has shown that about 90% of all present-day individuals from Huejucar, Jalisco, Mexico are my cousins! LOL!
