Hi all!
I was wondering if anyone has traced any Castañedas back to Spain. The farthest I've gotten with actual paperwork is to Hernando who was probably born in Zacatecas around 1680 (guessing).
I've also been on hiatus from genealogy for awhile and have kind of forgotten how to look at people's info by surname. :-p I'm still figuring the new familysearch.org format.
My cheatsheet:
Hernando de Castañeda
Christoval
Joseph Alexandro
Jose Antonio
Julio de Jesus
Juan
Gregorio
Vita (great-grandmother)
Thanks!
Laura
Castañeda question
Laura,
I have Hernando's marriage record and his parents' names, which dead ends there; that means little, though, as I haven't researched them further back, since I don't appear to be connected to Hernando's parents. I connect with you through Hernando's wife, Antonia de Covarrubias. I have additional information on her. Send me a message through the group, and I can forward you some details. Just click on my user name.
Rosalinda
Antonia de Covarrubias
How come it has her listed as Perez? Where did Covarrubias come from?

Question
Alice and Carmen,
There are 3 lists in which to post your emails or comments, each one has a
specific purpose.
- Announce is when you have an announcement to make such as an event
related to genealogy or other type of announcement.
- Research is when you have a research question or response
- General is for general purposes just a comment in general.
These 3 lists are to help us submit and respond to a specific type of
posting.

Ranchos. Log into Nuestros Ranchos and you'll see the 7 bullets on the
right hand side, select Mailing Lists and you can select how it is that you

1. If you're going on vacation or just don't want to receive mail from
Nuestros Ranchos, you would check the No mail (temporarily disable delivery)
2. If you want to receive your email from Nuestros Ranchos in a bundle
every day, rather than receiving it as it streams in on a daily basis, you
would check subscribe for digest.
3. Or you can select, Subscribe for all mail (normal delivery) this is
to get your emails one at a time as they are sent and received at Nuestros
Ranchos. I have mine set at Subscribe for all mail, although there have
been problems with the server and I have not been receiving all messages
for quite some time now, but Joseph and Arturo have been working hard to
correct this and I believe there may be other volunteers that are assisting
with this. I hope this helps you.

Question
Thanks again, Alicia.
So, the digest consists of bundles of emails received at a later date.
Like you, I also have selected subscribe for all mail, and also miss some. If we humans were as
fickle and capricious as technology, we wouldn't have jobs.

Question
Hi Carmen, on research list I would ask for specific names or locations I'm researching and would like help on in the hope that someone else in Nuestros Ranchos is working in the same lines or areas. In general I would share stories or ask questions not pertaining to research
