Seeking any assistance or information on Pedro Jose Montellano or Son Jose Maria Montellano either from Zacatecas or Ojuelos Jalisco, I found information related to Los Pinos or Magueyes Zac. however very limited.
Information I found in Ojuelos Jalisco, Montellano is spelled as Monteyano or Montejano, which could be a typo or possibly how it was spelled during that era.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Montellanos
I don’t think Pedro Montellano, who was married to Ana Maria de los Santos Castorena, and Pedro Montejano Argote, who married Guadalupe Cirila Camarillo, are the same person. For one thing, though similar, the surnames are different and have different origins.
For them to be the same person, he’d have to have been married first to Ana Maria de los Santos, before 1786, when their daughter Gertrudis was born; according to his marriage information, Pedro Montejano Argote was born around 1780 on Rancho del Maguey and had been living on Rancho de la Jaula, both in the jurisdiction of Pinos. He was 17 and had never been married, nor had he lived anywhere else. So he couldn’t have been the same person who was married to Ana Maria de los Santos. Also, according to their marriage records, Pedro Montellano’s children were mestizos, and their mother, Ana Maria de los Santos, was spanish (white), so Pedro was mixed race, for his children to be mestizos. Pedro Montejano Argote was spanish.
So, I don’t think your Montellano’s descend from the Montejano’s of Pinos/Ojuelos. When researching families in Ojocaliente, I’ve had luck searching in Asientos and Calvillo, Aguascalientes - have you tried those places? Doing a general search on FamilySearch, I see both Montellano’s and Castorena’s showing up there.

Buenos Dias!
I do agree with your observations, I was not completely convinced that Montejano was linked however 2nd set of eyes is confirming not to be.
I'll take your advice and hopefully find other leads with Pedro Montellano in the Guanajuato archives.
I appreciate your knowledge and time with this!

When did your Pedro Jose and Jose Maria live, and who were they married to? I haven’t seen Montellano nor Monteyano in Pinos nor Ojuelos, but I have seen Montejano. Most of the families with that surname living in Pinos during the 1700’s descend from Phelipe Antonio Ramirez Montejano and Paula Francisca Lopez de Avila, who petitioned marriage on 24 Jun 1729 in Pinos. He was born in Mexico City around 1705, son of Antonio Ramirez Montejano and Juana de Torres, and she was daughter of Juan de Avila and Juana de Trujillo. They had about 7 children, born between 1730 and 1750, who ended up living in Pinos, Ojuelos and in San Felipe, Gto. This family originally used the compound surname Ramirez Montejano, but most of their children dropped the “Ramirez” and went with “Montejano.”
I hope you find this useful!

Gracias for your swift response,
According to the information I gathered, Pedro Jose Montellano "Argote" was married to Ana-Maria De Los Santos Castorena OR Guadalupe Cirila Cmarrillo in Los Pinos in 1797. However lived or spent time in Ojocaliente, Veta Grande, Guadalupe Zacatecas?
Simon Montellano (son of Pedro) (DOB 1792) married to Bruna Perea Perez (1812) in Palmillas zacatecas
Jose Maria Montellano - Perez (1809-1894) and married to Ponciana Martinez .Jose Maria Montellano - Grand Son of Pedro Montellano & Son of Simon,
I did find what you shared in regard to Phelipe (1705) & Paula Francisca De Avila. There is also a Joseph Joachin Montejano (1735) Villa De Reyes, San Luis Potosi married to Juana Ygnacia Argote (1720-1810) who appears to be the parents of Pedro Jose "Montellano" (DOB approx. 1750-60)
Very interesting how last names were dropped, so assuming that Ramirez was paternal and Montejano was maternal? My confusion is the spelling of the surname of Montellano which are in later archives vs the earlier archives using Montejano.
