Has anyone been able to find from which side of the family did Ana Francisca and Maria Gabay got their surname? I have tried to find that surname among Spanish surnames with little success. However, I have found that Gabay or Gabai is a Jewish surname. Further I learned that Gabay is a person that performs duties similar to an usher. Here is a description:

Agustin Villegas was born in Huejucar, Jalisco OR Jerez, Zac abt 1742. He married Rosalia Anriquez. Their first two children were born in Jerez, Zacatecas but the rest were born in Huejucar, Jalisco.
