Regarding the inquisition documents held at Bancroft; I have viewed
part of the film that contains the petitions by Capitan Nicolas Flores
de la Torre (dated 27 Jul 1694) and Melchor Perez de la Torre. I got
Angie,
I am having trouble with my Microsoft program and cannot open any files. I
have not looked up any Godina yet. But my grandmother was Maria Godina, born
1899 in Saltillo. I am not positive of this birthplace. Her father was
I apologize if this question has appeared before. Recently, while reading
christening records, I have come across the word "tresalvo" right after the
name of the child being baptised. Can someone define it for me? Thanks
I have the history of the Carlos de Godoy from the 1800 that moved to
Jalisco, have several loose files of the Carlos de Godoy in their original
location Jerez, will like to contact with the person that did the research
Was this a recent acquisition at the Bancroft? and you are correct in questioning whether something bad could have happened. So many horrible things happened as a result of the inquisition, not only in Mexico but throughout the world.

I hadn't checked the Roots Television site in a while, so I'm not sure how long this has been on. In this program, host Sharon DeBartolo Carmack interviews George R. Ryskamp, author of "Finding Your Hispanic Roots" (4-part interview; interview preceded by a commercial). Check the interview here:
Yes, I spoke to Clara and she did a search.... they were not in that church, so they are doing a search in all the other churches in that area. I offered to pay them extra if they would do this for me, since I cannot go there and do the search myself. I will call them (Carla and her sister Viola) Monday and see what they cam up with.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I just got off the phone with Carla that will do the search for me, and it will be just $7.00 per baptizim. This is the closest that I have ever gotten to the search of my mothers brothers and sisters. I sure hope they find them. I won't know until Friday when I call her.
Does anyone know where I can find a website or book about the current living descendants of Moctezuma? Thanks. I love this group so much, we all have helped each other. Any Info. is appreciated. -Dani
This is an answer to an old question I had about the origin of Catarina Jauregui, a search tip and some thank yous. I think I have found the answer to Ojo de Agua on the Marriage of Catarina Jauregui and Julian Alviso. Ojo de Agua was a rancho in the jurisdiction of Tepatitlan.
Is anyone on the list researching the La Croix area which is close to
Cd. Guzman and Tonaya? If so and and if you are interested I've got a
person doing Chavez research that is not a member of the group.
The Archivo General de la Nacion in Mexico City has put its revised and more complete catalogue online. One is now able to search through content in a much simpler manner than in the previous ARGENA III database. There is a left hand frame with all of the search results organized by collection and descriptions of the documents appear on the right hand frame when a document is clicked.
in the application for membership there is one area needing
clarification because so so so so many new applicants are not putting in
the correct information: "Surnames Researching:**"
Can you all think of a very short phrase that would convey the message
Several weeks ago, I posted a announcement about a weekly Hispanic/Mexican Research class, that I would be teaching. Several of you stated an interest in taking the class.
I just wanted to let you know, that the classes have started. They are being taught Sunday evenings at 7:15pm to 7:45pm (MST). Then from 8:00pm to 11:00 pm (MST) I am answering questions.
