To Sergio Gutierrez Molina
Your book just arrived today. Instead of starting with the beginning, I flipped to page 157 in the middle of the book and immediately recognized my greatgrandparents Eligio Romo and Francisca Gutierrez. I turned to the next page to find their son Emeterio Romo Gutierrez, the horse whisperer who broke Pancho Villas world famous horse. Emeterio is my great grand father. You did an excellent job writing on our family.
Thanks again for writing this book.

Merced Gutierrez Romo
Dear Sergio Gutierrez Martinez,
In your book you have eleven children for Florentino de San Miguel Gutierrez y Jimenez and Maria Francisca Romo Ramirez.
I also have eleven children in my records. The issue is that you have Juana Maria as their child and you provide a baptismal record but no marriage record. I don't have her in my records but i do have as their child Merced Gutierrez where her parents are listed in the marriage record.
I wonder if Juana Maria and Merced are the same person and her name should be Juana Maria de Los Mercedes Gutierrez Romo or if they had twelve children.
Merced is an important member of this family as she is the ancestor of Santo Toribio Romo. Maria Merced Gutierrez is married to Jose Maria Gonzalez and they are the parents of Gabino Gonzalez, baptized 26/feb1831 in Jalostotitlan. This Gabino Gonzalez Gutierrez is the maternal grandfather of Santo Toribio Romo Gonzalez. This Gabino was also married to a Romo. Santo Toribio is a third cousin to my maternal grandfather repeatedly through his Gutierrez, Gonzalez, Romo, and Jimenez lines.
I also have other information to add and complement your wonderful book.
Your cousin,

Merced Gutierrez Romo
Great to hear you have found useful and that we share the Gutierrez de Hermosillo line. You are correct, I did miss this family of Merced, I recognized this error a few months back when a friend provided me his family tree. The tree clearly showed that the daughter of Florentino was related to Santo Toribio. I have made notes in my book to correct this missing information, as well as others that have been pointed out by my fellow genealogists and family. Hopefully in the near future I will publish a revision.
Concerning story of Emeterio Romo Gutierrez being the horse whisperer who broke Pancho Villas world famous horse, hopefully you share more information and would gladly include it in my follow up of the book, as well as other info. you mention in your comment.
Saludos,

Gutierrez family
Dear Sergio,
Just off the top of my head there are five lines that I can add to that go all the way to the present. The problem is that one of the lines may ruffle some feathers. I know a 3rd cousin of my moms that I'll call"Jose" that has a father that you list in your book. The problem is that you list this father as having a different wife. Either "Jose" is illegitimate or the wife that you have for his father in your book is not really his wife. I did his genealogy going back from his parents but never questioned him whether his parents were married when he said he did not have the date of their marriage. I do not feel comfortable asking "Jose"if he is illegitimate. There is a small chance that his father was married twice but I doubt it because I remember a story that "Jose" left Jalostotitlan when his daughter started talking to a boy that was closely related but the families didn't recognize each other because one of the families was illegitimate. When I was told The story I had assumed that the boys family was the one that came from the illegitimate side. Now I think that "Jose" may be illegitimate.

Maybe I help you find "Jose" parent's marriage information. You can send me a private message with the details.

Jose de Jesus
Dear Sergio,
It is a small world. Not only do we find relatives in the study of genealogy. we find secrets that many wish to stay hidden. This Jose de Jesus that I said belonged in the family tree does come from an illegitimate relationship. This Jose de Jesus is my first cousins father in law. I was surprised when I originally found out that he was my moms third cousin since we had never heard of him before.
When I was growing up, the Romos all knew their second and third cousins because they were all interested in the family tree. My tio Dr. Rito Romo Franco and my grandfather Don Mere Romo Franco were very close to their first and second cousins. Rito and my grandfathers father was Romo Gutierrez. That meant they also knew the children of their second cousins and would introduce them to me and other family members Through your book the secret came out why we did not know of this Gutierrez branch. Your information in your book is correct. Jose's father is listed having a different wife in your book because he had a second secret family.
I am surprised that the secret didn't come out when when you and my cousin became friends in college. I guess you guys didn't compare family trees. If you had, you would have discovered two cousins, him and his future wife.
