Hello
I have found a marriage dispensation from 1796 for
Jose Raphael Romo,Puesto de Sausillo, age 27,son of Antonio Romo and Mariana de Alba:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18414-48481-39?cc=1874591&wc…
in which the pretenza is
Maria Olaya (Olalla) Gutierrez, Puesto de el Tigere (?), age 16, daughter of Manuel Gutierrez (deceased by the time the dispensa was written)and Maria de Alba.
Maria de Alba and Mariana de Alba have common GG grandparents:
Alonso de Alba and Xasinta Ximenez.
There is no mention of a previous marriage for this particular Jose Raphael Romo (who may or may not have married Maria Casilda Rafaela Aguilar Chavez).
There were two Jose Raphael Romos born to Antonio Romo (died 1776) and Mariana de Alba:
Jose Raphel Prudencio Romo (chr. 1765) and Jose Raphael Silvestre Romo (chr 1767)
There is no mention of the names Silvestre or Prudencio in the dispensa, but due to the age given, it is more likely Silvestre who was christened in dec. of 1767.
I am wondering: Has anyone found the name Jose Raphael Prudencio Romo on a document after 1765? anything - padrino, witness, etc?
I have looked for the marriage itself (Raphael and Olaya)in the marriage records for Rincon de Romos for 1796 but did not find it. Still looking...now in 1797...

Denise

Thanks to both of you for the tips!
For the marriage of Joseph Raphael Romo to Maria Olaya Gutierrez, both spanish, in Encarnacion de Diaz on 27 april 1796, here is the link to the image, should anyone else be interested:

I am not much wiser, except for two things:
1. no mention of a previous marriage to Ma Casilda Rafaela Aguilar Chaves
2. no don/dona titles (the Raphael Romo who moved to Coahuila was referred to as Don, as were his descendents)among the parents or padrinos.
Incidentally, I came across another Raphael Romo, spanish, same place, same time,(BUT son of Joseph Romo and Luisa de Medina) who married (10 Aug 1796)a woman named Maria de los Dolores Gonzales, spanish (hija natural of Maria Antonia Gonzales). Again, no mention of a previous marriage and no titles - see link below:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18564-58626-58?cc=1874591&wc…
The Manuel Romo whose parents I am searching for, married in Nadadores in 1816, so I think that he was born not after 1798. I think it unlikely that either Raphael Romos above could have married in '96, been widowed, and remarried and had a child by 1798. So I think I can rule them out, also the issue of the Raphael m. to Olaya was Silvestre or Prudencio I can put on the back burner - I don't think now that I link up the either of them.
So I guess I better look at la Chona!

Denise
la Chona
Hi Armando
My next question would have been, where the heck is La Chona, but you have already answered that in a previous post!I have copied it below for anyone else who might be wondering...
Thanks again for taking the time to help with my questions.

Denise

Hello Paul,
I imagine, and in no way certain, that it went like this - La Encarnación
became La Encarnachon which became La Chona. Just like Jesus became Chus or
Chuy and Luisa became Licha and so on.

Jose Raphael Romo and Maria Olaya Gutierrez
Hello Denise,
Joseph Rafael Romo and María Olaya Gutierrez wed 27 Apr 1796 in Encarnación
de Díaz, Jalisco. They were not from Rincón de Romos. Here is the link:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JZJN-5QV
They also baptized several children en Encarnación de Díaz.

Jose Raphael Romo and Maria Olaya Gutierrez
Hello Bill,
Joseph Rafael Romo Alba was baptized in Aguascalientes which is why she was
going to look in that area. She is trying to find out which one of the
following two is the one that married María Olaya Gutierrez and also which
one is her ancestor.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NBQ8-FBN
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NTMP-BZK
Would you happen to have copies of these baptisms? They are not found
online as far as I can tell. They were grandchildren of my ancestors Miguel
Romo de Vivar and Ana Macías Valadez.
The furthest ancestor that Denise can find was mentioned as being from
Aguascalientes even though there is a possibility he was actually from La
Chona.
Saludos,
Armando
