Is anyone familiar with Luis Lópes Suáres? My family is descended various times from him and his wife Catarina de la Cruz (maybe Hernándes). I just stumbled upon a marriage certificate from 11 February 1673 (in Aguascalientes) that I think was probably a first marriage to Mariana Sepulbeda, because it gives the names of Luis' parents as Juan Lópes and Josefa Xuáres. I am very excited about going back one more generation, but I can find absolutely no mention of anyone in this family before the 1673 marriage.
I do know that Luis died before 1729 - the date of a marriage of a daughter Maria Josefa from the second marriage. I cannot find the marriage to Catarina, but there is a baptismal certificate for sons Bentura (1716) and Simon (1724). There is also a record for a son from the first marriage - Gabriel (1682).
Many of the early records for this family give the surname Xuáres or Juáres, but all of Luis' sons started using Suáres.
Here is the link for the marriage with Mariana - it's the middle record on the right: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-12446-30482-34?cc=1502404&…

Aguascalientes matrimonial investigations
I have indexed the Aguascalientes matrimonial investigations for this period. They are posted here at NR under files - reference materials - Aguacalientes matrimonial investigations.
Please note that the films were reposted after I did the indexes, so things don't do not align with how the films are presently posted online. However, the index will tell if the document exists, and will give the parents' names if they were in the original document. The MI's do not exist for all the early marriages.
There is more info in the documents than the indexes, so it is worth the effort if find it. If you need help with the index, please contact me through N R, and I help with the index.

Thank you very much, George. I will take a look when I get home from work today! I was not aware that they had been indexed. This is a big help.
Informacion Matrimonial
Thank you, Gloria. The informacion Matrimonial records really frustrate me - I haven't had good luck with them. But I know they contain a lot of valuable information. I am thinking that Luis and Catarina probably married by 1713 at the latest, because their daughter Josefa got married in 1729. So even if she was 16 when she got married, she would have been born in 1713. Thanks again.
