I had submit a doc in the files section of the group, in the "L" click in "Leon Leticia", is an update for Lino Oñate my gggrandpa on my fathers maternal side.

I submitted new findings for my Oñate Line, a small step.

I have printed out the batch numbers given on the website for Aguascalientes, but the year I need is not on the list. Under birth, I need 1882. Can anyone tell me where I can find birth records for that year? I am looking for Cruz Bustamante B. 1882. I can't seem to find his parents. I have found another Cruz Bustamante born in 1878 which could be his father, but I'm not sure. Any help will be appreciated.

In your case, the referenced film #299917 (Batch C001664) relates to 1887-1903 Baptisms of Hijos Naturales registered in the Senor del Encino Parish of Aguascalientes, --- and you indicate the need for information about an Aguascalientes birth (Cruz Bustamante) presumed to have occurred in 1882.

Therefore, I suggest you consult directly the following films of the Records from this Parish ....

Film #299916 --- 1854 to 1887 Baptisms of Hijos Naturales
Fim #299888 --- 1881 to 1885 Baptismos de Hijos Legitimos

I notice that 1878 could not be the father of Cruz Bustamante. It's too early I guess. Sorry, but I still need help

This may be in the user guide, but I can't access that right now because I
can't open Word. What setting do I put for "Char set"? What email address do
I send it to? Most of my entries don't have the relevant microfilm source
noted. Should I wait to send it until I do?

Raquel:

There are two ways you can partition out your PAF file in a manner that would
be appropriate for submission to your folder:

>From the "Print Reports" menu item (the little printer icon) and then
clicking the "Books" tab, you can print out an Ahenetafel report directly from
PAF showing your relevant grandfather's ancestors. This also eliminates (I
presume) all living people that might be in that PAF file. You can then print
out the report to a RTF or preferably a PDF file and submit that file.

You can create a GEDCOM of your grandfather's ancestors using the "Export"
menu item (the little disk with an out arrow). Click "Other GEDCOM" then
select "Partial" under the "Filter" option. Click the "Select" button on the
lower right and then find your relevant grandparent and select "All ancestral
related" under the "Relationship Filter" option and then the "Select" button.
Then Click "OK" and finally the "Export" button. We can then upload the
GEDCOM to our GEDCOM database which other members can search.

Hello Candis,

Last year I went on vacation to Puerto Vallarta and had an opportunity to
visit San Sebastian del Oeste. As you mentioned, San Sebastian is a former
mining town and about an hour's drive from Puerto Vallarta. Until two
year's ago the only road leading to it was a narrow dirt road that made
travel difficult because of its location in the Sierra Madre. They have
since started building a paved road and I was able to go on a tour of the
town. In fact, the road was being built as we were driving back. Our bus
had to wait for 20 minutes or so as we were heading back to Puerto Vallarta
as the workers poured gravel and dirt over a section of the road. Here is a

In addition to the places you see in the video, our tour included a visit
to the home of a lady named Doña Conchita, who is a member of one of the
first mining families in town. Doña Conchita has been working on her family
tree for several years and has a room full of photographs, documents and
miscellaneous artifacts that belonged to her ancestors. She gave us a
presentation of her oral and documented history. Doña Conchita is in her
80's and a wealth of information about the town's history.

I highly recommend this tour to any genealogist even if you are not
researching ancestry in San Sebastian. Here are some links to a couple of

I'm stuck on my research for my Enriquez family in Jalostotitlan. The latest couple I have is Jose Maria Enriquez and Maria Nicolasa Gonzalez de Villasenor. They are my 6GGrandparents. They lived around the mid 1700's. I can't figure out anything before that. Their son, Jose Vicente Yrineo Enriquez Gonzalez (who was a twin by the way) was born around 1785 and married Maria Francisca Romo de Vivar. Vicente's daughter, Maria Gerarda Enriquez, eventually made her way to Amoxochitl (Juchipila area) and married my GGGrandfather Jose Maria Enriquez... yes, there were both Enriquez :-) -- so makes for an interesting line to have 2 last names join in different towns with who knows what backgroud.

Anyway, any help would be great. Does anyone have any info on the origins of the Enriquez in La Nueva Galicia?

Can anyone help me with my family tree? My father's (Elias de Leon) ancestors are from Huejucar, Jalisco. Beyond my GGF Nicolas de Leon, born Abt 1845, I know nothing.
His father was Francisco de Leon son of Nicolas de Leon and Refugio Covarrubias. He was a music composer who was born after 1866 and died probably around 1910-1915 at the hands of a beating from Pancho Villa's thugs. Only recently have I discovered that Francisco had a brother named Espiridion de Leon who was baptised in Huejucar on 12/18/1874.

I just wanted to tell the new members who are new to researching that after 10 years of researching I just did my first record of "hijos naturales." I'd stayed away from them because I felt it was sort of prying.. silly me! I"m working on 0439889 Jerez Zacatecas, hijos naturales and have found lots and lots of children listed as natural when their parents were actually married!

I've decided not to include these children in the records stops others from finding them regardless of the circumstances of their birth. I also noticed that some are listed in the civil birth registration as father unknown but in the baptism record in "hijos naturales" the father and grandparents are usually listed, a real find. So, my advice is not to neglect any record that might give you the information you need to further your research.

When I was very young (1940-50's) I spent time with my family in Jalisco on Rancho Calderón, which is reached by following the road between Zapotlanejo and Tepatitlán and leaving it about halfway, to reach the rancho which was pretty far from the highway. Rancho Calderón was in the Valle de Calderón and the adobe structures were quite ancient. I think I remember hearing that the main hacienda was built in the 1600's or 1700's. It was owned by the Romo (de Vivar) family but purchased in the early 20th century by Salvador Padilla. Salvador Padilla had married María Guadalupe "Lupe" Romo and purchased the failing rancho to "keep it in the family." Salvador and Lupe were probably born shortly after the turn of the century, since Lupe is still alive and in her late 90's. She was the daughter of Luis Romo (de Vivar), one of the sons of my GGGF José de los Santos Romo (de Vivar). I have no idea whether it was he or one of his sons who owned the rancho. In a sad turn of affairs, the rancho was seized by the government in the late 1900's and is now at the bottom of a reservoir. I see a big reservoir on the Google map, which is north of the highway and is long enough to fill the middle third of the distance between Zapotlanejo and Tepatitlán--but I'm not even sure if the rancho was north or south of the highway.

I am interested in any information anyone has about the history of the Rancho Calderón, because it may help me in my otherwise stymied research into the Romo de Vivar aka Romo family of Jalisco. It would also be interesting to find out the name of the new lake--probably Calderón, because it was the result of flooding the Valle de Calderón, but one can never assume.

Hello everyone! My name is Joshua Goodson, grandson of Francisco Romo Villanueva. He was born 21 Apr 1923 in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico. He was married to Marcellina Ribeiro. I know he had at least two sisters, two brothers, and a nephew that are also from Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico and one of the sisters lived with her husband in Leon, GTO, Mexico. I am not sure if they are still living so I did not include their names. I do not even know the names of my great-grandparents. Most of what I know is from the writing on the back of photos that belonged to my grandfather, most of them dated in the 1950's, and little bits of information my mother could remember. I do not know anything about my family and am finding it very difficult to find any information about them. If anyone know any information or how I can get started, please let me know.

There are many Enriquez recordings as early colonizers of Nueva Galicia
from which, if any, you can determine your lineage. Some examples of these
are:

> Juan Enriquez de Guzman served with Cortes in his first expedition.
> Martin Enriquez was the 4th Viceroy (1568 - 1583) of Nueva Galicia.
> Enriquez, son of Henry and "originario de Espana" is mentioned as being
in Nueva Espana in 1691.
> Various Enriquez are recorded as being tried in Nueva Espana by the
Spanish Inquisition for relapsing to Judaism.
> Mariano Gonzales-Leal includes --- in his "Retonos de Espana en la Nueva
Galicia" --- Enriquez del Castillo as one of the 117 Spanish families that
arrived to colonize the Los Altos region of Jalisco in 1550

So, in the case of your "stuck research," I suggest that you
begin/continue it by reading the christening record of the twins (Josse
Antonio Yrineo Enrique Gonsales and Josse Vicente Yrineo Enrique Gonsales)
children of Josse Maria Enrique and Maria Nicolaza Gonsales, --- and
christened 17 July 1785 at Nuestra Senora de la Asuncion, Jalostotitlan,
Jalisco. (Ref.: LDS Film # 0279261). These christening records often
include the names of the newborn's grandparents which, in this instance,
would be your 7GGrandparents.
