Can anyone advice me of a good software to use to creat my family tree?

Hi Maria:

I have used "Legacy" for many years and found it very easy to use and very
practical. I 've heard people refer to it as the Cadillac of family trees
software. The best part of it is that it is FREE. Just go to Legacy.com
and download it from there. They have a more sophisticated version but
there is a charge for it.

When I first started doing my family search I used the Mormon's Church
software, but after using Legacy I never looked back and be using it ever
since.

Try it, I think you'll like it.

Hello Mr. Gonzalez:

I new to "Nuestros Ranchos" and have been getting Maria Cortes link. I
don't know how this happened. I don't know how to navigate in the website
that well yet. My father's last name was Gomez Gonzalez. My maiden name
was Mercedes Gomez Villalobos. I posted my introduction a few days ago. My
paternal grandmother was Joaquina Gonzalez born around 1874 in Encarnacion
de Diaz. She married my grandfather Francisco Gomez Martinez. . I don't
have too much on my father's side, but a have found a lot on my mother's
Villalobos Aguilera side. The surnames I've researched are: Gomez
Martinez, Gomez Gonzalez, Gonzalez Jimenez, Diaz, Quesada, Lopez, Ocegueda,
and the list keeps getting longer. The places are Teocaltiche, Canadas,
Encarnacion de Dias, Guanajuato, Irapuato, Sacatecas. I've gone back to
1668 on my mother's side, but am kind of lost on my father's side.

If you have any links to the Gonzalez Jimenez or Gomez Gonzalez, please let
me know. Thanks and I was looking for a program to do my genealogy chart,
so THANK YOU SO MUCH for the time on the program you use. Since I'm a
beginner, I really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Sincerely,
Mercedes Gomez Villalobos

Mercedes Gomez Villalobos.

Hola Mercedes:

My Gonzalez ancestry is mostly from the Jalostotitlán, Jalisco area which
includes, Santa Ana, San Juan de Los Lagos, Teocaltiche, and Lagos de
Moreno. I have yet to find any Gonzalez de Hermosillo, outside this areas,
that are from my paternal side of the family. Originally the name was
Gonzalez de Hermosillo but it was shortened to just Gonzalez. There are a
number of Gonzalez lines, starting with Gonzalez, Gonzalez de Hermosillo,
Gonzalez de Ruvalcaba, Gonzalez de Laris, Gonzalez del Castillo,
Gonzalez-Rubio, and Gonzalez de San Roman. There are quite a few Gonzalez's
out there.

My wife is from Teocaltiche and her father's Martinez line came from Cañadas
de Obregon. I started researching his line and found out that the Martinez
were Martin, which had evolved from Martin del Campo.

It looks like you have accomplished quite a bit already. I suggest that you
concentrate on one line at a time, follow it until you hit a brickwall, then
start on the next line. If you try to follow all your lines at once you
might overwhelmed, lost, and confused. This strategy has worked for me and
it might work for you too. You might want to start with your father's
paternal line, followed by his maternal line.

Good luck.

Thank you John.
It's interesting you mention the Gonzalez Hermosillo name. You know on my
mother's side I have a 5th grade grandmother named Maria Gonzalez Hermosillo
(early 1700's)married to Bartholome Villalobos d.1769 (he was the son of my
4th grade grandfather, Fernando Villalobos ) . But like you said there's
quite a few Gonzalez out there. Anyway, thanks for your tips on how to
research. It's a great idea and I will incorporate it into my process.
Many thanks again,

Hi Rick:

Yes, my grandfather was from El Cuadrado, just South of Jalos, my
ggrandfather was from Los Portales, just about 2 miles South of Jalos. My
next 3 grandfathers were from Santa Ana and the rest of them were from
Jalos. I am Santo Toribio's third cousin, once removed.

I believe you are from the L.A. area, we should get together to compare

Good morning, Maria,

There are several computer software programs on the market for collecting,
formatting, and generating reports pertaining to family history. The one
that I use is Family Tree Maker. I have used it for 3 years; and have been
satisfied. Also, I have an Ancestry.com subscription that interfaces with
FTM. I hope this helps you in your buying decision. Good luck.

Best wishes,

Based on research, I notice western Guanajuato has a hugepopulation who are related to the altenos of Jalisco, rapidimmigration and intermarriage like families of and of the Paredesfamilies, Romero de Chavez, etc married in to Jalisco andAguascalientes even to Michoacan. Southern half of Zacatecas includingPinos ti the east, all of Aguascalientes North and southern easternJalisco and western Michoacan and western Guanajuato have sameimmigration patterns, altenos went to all these places and they soonbecame the majority by intermarrying the local "elite". Ive alwayswondered whether the altenos knew or planned the wholerelations stuff when they were marrying their kids off to the pointwhere people in 4 states can be so closely related. I have many linesgoing back to Guanajuato, specifically San Felipe.

El Puesto de San Miguel DE LOS ALBA

Thank you for your information Miguel. I know where San Miguel is but I was hoping to hear from someone who was doing genealogy research in that area with information about San Miguel and it's original inhabitants.

On another note, I noticed your surname was BELTRAN. Have you done research on your surname? I have BELTRAN in my family tree.

Thanks again,

Dont worry I didnt learn English until the 3rd-4th grade! I love Spanish way more then English though. Anyway Have you tried ordering the baptisms for Rafael Romo's kids they should include the grandparents at least the ones 1800-present. To be safe look at the youngest child usually the more present the better with grandparents wise (not always the case but majority). -Daniel

Other than that I was able to plug some big gaps in my tree. Does anyone out there have a ROMO, PEDROZA, and or ALBA tree? I think that surely I have enough to connect with someone by now?? Those three surnames weave in and out of my tree throughout various generations.

I may have some information. I have not yet posted everything on here. My mother's family are the Romo's of Encarnacion and so far have gone back to 1810 & found that I'm still able to go back further but had to stop due to a death in my family. I saw a connection to a Toribio Romo in our family tree. Also, it has been told in our family, that this relative of ours was a Saint with their own shrine located near Encarnacion; I need to go through my files in storage & will post back...This may take awhile so bear with me!

Thanks Daniel for the info...... I already saw that film and I think I forgot to mention that My GGGfather Juan Nepomuceno Romo according to my late Grandpa, He was born abt 1835-1840 the register you saw does not match with him,, I found several Juan Nepomuceno that might actually be him but the problem is exactly that,, I have no films or marriage records to confirm that........it is just frustrating !!!!

I hope there is another record that I could find I am going to have to order the whole period to the LSD and check on the simplified marriage records if I find something ....but thanks again Daniel.

Wait? If you have the marriage record you know the names of Juan right? I found these Juan's. -Daniel Camino

There used to be one....The address was
www.ancestros.com. I have tried to access it recently
with no luck. I now reach a webpage with a number of
links related to ancestry-but not specifically Mexican
genealogy. I'm guessing they either changed the link,
or discontinued it altogether.

I get the feeling that a membership to ancestry.com is valuable if your ancestry is from the US.  I'm first generation US born, so if that is true, it's of no consequence to me.  Also, I never hear anyone from the nuestros ranchos group reference it.  My research has led me to Spain on several lines.  Does anyone know if it is worthwhile for Spanish research?   Thank you for your help.    Alice

Ancestry.Com is not free and all info and data was obtained from researchers like me and my Esparza relatives. It should be free to us who gave them their data....

USE Rootsweb.com, this web site has the same info and data, and it is free!

Yes and no. There is some user-submitted stuff, but there are also primary documents like census, draft registration, border crossing, and so on that you won't get at Rootsweb. Mostly it's not too useful for Mexican research, but great for US and Canadian. They have about 35 collections in their card catalog for Spain, but it looks like mostly historically important events and nobility.

Ancestry.Com is not free and all info and data was obtained from researchers like me and my Esparza relatives. It should be free to us who gave them their data....

USE Rootsweb.com, this web site has the same info and data, and it is free!

Hi Patti,

Thanks for your reply. For the information of those doing genealogy research on a budget--Social Security records are available on line for free, and one can easily access this web site from Rootsweb.com

Rootsweb has hundreds of FREE databases and info in their webpage's......And free Border Crossings data is also available online as well as within the LDS website. Also all libraries in the United States have access to Census information - in TX the program is accessible through TexShare, a free program for the US Census data from the beginning to 1930.

I will be forever grateful to RootsWeb for the data on the Ruiz de Esparza, the Romos de Vivar and the Munoz de Nava, etc etc family trees that have provided me with endless answers to my family and the missing links. There is a lot of data on the Family Tree Section of Rootsweb concerning families from Jalostotitlán, Jalisco, México and the Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, México areas.

Search Engines and Databases
RootsWeb Surname List/RSL (Surname Listings)
MetaSearch (Multiple Databases and Files)

Ancestry.com does have some free information - they own Rootsweb.com. =)

That said, I agree with Patti in that there is value in it. The border crossing records and census data have proved invaluable to me. I recently connected with relatives who share my lineage but whose branches of the family had been "lost" to us. We didn't even know that their ancestor...my grand uncle, had crossed into the US. Now I have them all plotted and discover new branches regularly. If you have had no ancestors cross before you, Alice it probably would be a waste of your time to pay for Ancestry.com. You might also want to know that the LDS Family History Center I use has subscription membership and allow people to use it for research free of charge. For your consideration.

My parents were the first (on dad's side) to immigrate, while my mother's family never did.  I am the first of my family born in the US, so I think that beyond my family's border crossing (which I did find), I have no need for US research.  I was hoping that some group members had success stories to report with ancestry.com in dealing with Spanish research.  So far, I haven't heard members report on much success with Spain as we have in researching Mexico thanks to familysearch.  I sincerely hope this doesn't bring my family research to an end on those family lines.
I will definitely explore rootsweb.com and see what it has to offer.  I am simply hesistant to pay the $200+ for something that might not have that much to offer me personally.  While the information I've acquired through Familysearch and the low charge for microfilm lending has proven itself priceless, I would gladly pay the subscription price if it afforded that much knowledge of Spain.  Again, thanks so much.   Alice

I have an old family photo sent to my grandmother who has since died. The photo has a male adult and four children. The back reads: "Miami, Arizona Abril 2 de 1928 Sr. Josemaria Gutierrez Mena Recuerdo de sus nietos y Nicanor su sobrino." I know these are persons related to us but cannot identify the persons. My grandmother had said they were cousins on her father's side. Our family is from the Gutierrez from Jalostotitlan, Jalisco.

Thank you,

Norberto de la Cerna married Maria Ramona Cerbantes, 25 Feb 1824 (not 1834!), San Jose, Calvillo, AGS Her parents are given as Jose Antonio Cerbantes and Maria Teodora Contreras. His parents are given as Gabriel de la Cerna and Catarina Frausto.

I found no children of Norberto de la Cerna up to 1855 baptized in Calvillo.

Hi Lety,

No problem. This is what I have.

To my knowledge, Jose D. Roman has been married at least twice that I know of.
One marriage was to Anita (Anna Maria) Acosta, which is my ancestor. I am not sure of the other just that they lived in Riverside County, CA. I am told he has a lot of children, both in and out of wedlock.
I know he had like 8 brothers and sisters and I think some are still in Jerez, Zacatecas.

I was told his parents were Daniel Roman and Maria Pinero.

In regards to Daniel Roman I was told the following:
Father: Juan Pedro Roman
Mother: Luisa Villegas

And he had 5 brothers and sisters.

I hope this his helpful!

Best,

Tania Garcia

Hi Daniel,

I was told that the name Lobo was a name given to the indians in Mexico and the de la Cruz started out as a sign of the cross in the baptismal books . The priest put a cross meaning that they were of the church .

By any chance , do you have any documents that prove otherwise ?

Hi Bill, Jaime, and Sofia,

I still believe Temino and Trevino are the same surname. Diego and his family were listed in the cesus in Guadaljara as Temino. Listed that way in the "Fundadores de Nueva Galicia, Guadalajara Tomo I" by Garamendia Leal who did extractions from the archives. I also believe that Temino can also be used a location as in Lenor de Temino, Lenor from Temino.

Last Friday I visited the Dallas Public Library in order to check out the book "Fundadores de Nueva Galicia, Guadalajara, Tomo I" by Guillermo Garmendia Leal. While looking for the Treviño connection, I found another book entitled "Origin of the Surnames Garza and Treviño in Nuevo León", by Tomás Mendirichaga Cueva. What they have is a translation the English language made by Edna G. Brown (Corpus Christi, Texas, 1989). I did not find this to be a good translation and will start looking for the original Spanish version. Notwithstanding, I discovered in that book that church records were indeed kept in Mexico City prior to 1575. Mr. Mendirichaga mentions the following three books:

1) Primer Libro de Bautismos de Españoles (Nov. 1536 - Oct. 1547)
2) Segundo Libro de Bautismos de Españoles (1552 - 1669)
3) Tercer Libro de Bautismos de Españoles (Ene. 1570 - Nov. 1589)

Some of the baptisms from the first book (Nov 1536 - Oct 1547) are as follows:

1) "Pedro, son of Juan de Salamanca and Doña Beatriz "his wife", was baptized February 1, 1543 and Pedro de Pacheco and Doña Ana de Timiño "were godparents". (Folio 113 verso)."

My comment: The godparents of Pedro de Salamanca were undoubtly Pedro Pacho Rodríguez (Conquistador) and Mariana Temiño de Bañuelos. I am beginning to think that the surname Pacho, used interchangeably with Pacheco, was an abbreviation taken at face value. For example, the surname Rodriguez appears in early records abbreviated as Rdz, but we don't call Juan Rodriguez "Juan Rdz". Just a thought. They were big on abbreviation in the 16th and 17th centuries. Anyway, I'm changing Pedro Pacho to Pedro Pacheco in my records.

2) "Mariana, daughter of Pedro de Pacheco and Doña Ana "his wife", baptized Wednesday, August 29, 1549. (Folio 124)."

My comment: This Mariana is the daughter of Pedro Pacheco Rodríguez and Mariana Temiño de Bañuelos. The "Diccionario Autobiografico de Conquistadores y Pobladores de Nueva España" sacado de los textos originales por Francisco A. de Icaza, lists the following information:

"554.- Pedro PACHO, muerto, dize:

3) "Fernando, son of Juan de Salamanca and "of doña beatriz his wife", was baptized April 7, 1545. (Folio 147 verso)."

4) "Bernardina, daughter of Pedro Pacheco and Doña Ana de Tremiño, was baptized August 26, 1545. (Folio 157 verso)."

5) "Juan, son of Juan de Salamanca and Doña Beatriz de Temiño, was baptized March 13, 1547. (Folio 157 verso)."

Also in the first book of baptisms appears one Treviño:

6) "Melchor, son of Miguel Treviño and Juana Cortés, baptized June of 1542 (Folio 100)."

In the second book appear the surnames Tremiños and Treviños:

7) "Lázaro, son of Pedro Fernández de Jerez and Catalina Treviño, baptized April 8, 1560 (Folio 123 verso)."

8) "Isabel, daughter of Diego de Tremiño and Beatriz de Quintanilla, baptized November 12, 1562. (Folio 169)."

9) "José, son of Diego Tremiño and Beatriz de Quintanilla, was baptized March 22, 1565. (Folio 218)."

And in the third book (Jan 1570 - Nov 1589), more Temiños, Tremiños and Treviños:

10) "Pedro, son of Juan Treviño, "Bookseller", and María Vanegas "his wife", was baptized November 1, 1574. (Folio 96)."

11) "Juana, daughter of Diego de Angulo and Doña Ana de Temiño, his wife, baptized July 5, 1575. (Folio 108 verso)."

12) "Luisa, daughter of Diego de Angulo and Doña Ana de Temiño, was baptized June 24, 1576. (Folio 124 verso)."

13) "Ana, daughter of Juan de Tremiño and María Vanegas, baptized January 6, 1577. (Folios 136 and 150)."

14) "Mariana (On the margin of the record it says María Ana), daughter of Diego de Angulo and Doña Ana Tremiño, baptized June 16, 1577. (Folio 140)."

Apparently, some assumptions, right or wrong, were made based on these early records and the passenger lists at the Archivo General de Indias in Seville. It seems to me that the surname Treviño was often misspelled Tremiño, as is the case in 10) and 13) above. I have not checked the LDS index to see if these early books were microfilmed. I would like to see them. Does anyone in the group have done any research on this?

I missed the important line "hija del Alcayde de Temyño" when copying the

I have been researching my family roots in Villa Hidalgo and Teocaltiche,
Jalisco. I noticed in both places that there is an area called Tepusco. As a
matter of fact, my family, VIDAURE, lived for several generations on Rancho
Tepusco in Paso de Sotos.

Anyway, my question is this: does Tepusco mean anything? I just found it be
an unusual word and, for it to be in two different towns, even though they
are close together, it just makes me wonder.

Does anyone know what it means?

The page that has the autobiography of Pedro Pacheco Rodriguez aka Pedro
Pacho in the "Diccionario Autobiografico de Conquistadores y Pobladores de

numbered sequentially. The SEQUENCE NUMBER for Pedro Pacho is 554.

Hi Bill,
It would be great if you could see the actual documents or their microfilms where you think they are abbreviating "Pacheco" as"Pacho". Many times when abbreviating a word or name, they would wrtie the last letter or the last few letters of the abbreviated form as what we call "superscipt" on Micorsoft's World. I've seen this many times when abbreviating "Don" as "Dn", "Doña" as "Dna", "Villarreal" as "Villarrl", "Maria" as "Ma" etc. although not always, as when abbreviating "Joseph" as "Jph" .
Usually these superscript are ahown as plain text in printed transcriptions, especially older ones.
I think if you find an original document showing "Pacho" with the fnal "o" as superscript, you can bet it is an abbreviation for something else, probably "Pacheco" as you think.

VN

I have no doubt the Temiño de Velasco, are related to this family. It seems all Velascos are related to the Dukes. Since Diego was the mayor, he might have dropeed this lineage name for
the place where he was at Temiño, his house name would have been Velasco. I still dont fint this how is he related to Bernardino? a Child or grandchild. -Daniel

Anyone have info on Andres Maria Lopez de Nava who married Maria Gertrudis Romo de vivar
ca. 1750 in Tabasco or Aguascalientes?

Introduction, Montalvo Cabral Research

Hello everyone, my name is Adrian and I've been a part of this group for over a month now, but just recently had part of my family tree uploaded so I would like to introduce myself to everyone.

I have uploaded my Rojas family line to the site for anyone interested.
Here is the link, http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/18752.

I have been helped by other relatives as to some basic information of the Rojas family, such as members of this family made some of the old lamp posts in Jerez. Also, this family line seems to also include Tepetongo but I think originally they came from Jerez in the early part of the 19th century. Aside from that, I haven't found much else.
Since the Rojas name is a bit more prevelent, and it seems that my ancestors did have many siblings, maybe someone out there will find a relation.

Adrian--

I have a 3rd ggrandmother, Juana Romero, who was born about 1834 in Villanueva, according to her marriage record. Her parents were Cornelio Romero and Florencia Montalvo. I tried looking for Juana's baptism record in Villanueva (hoping to find grandparents), with no success so far, although I need to complete a more thorough review.

Yes, I believe you are right in that the last name of Montalvo is uncommon in the area; I am stuck on that line. Perhaps we are distantly related through Florencia. I should try to spend some more time on this line, but I think the records do not go far enough back, and I have not yet determined where any older records would be located for Villanueva.

Let's keep in touch in case we encounter any new Montalvos in Villanueva.

Many Villanueva gamilies arrived from Aguascalientes, Calvillo, Huanusco, Jalpa, Juchipila and Tabasco areaso you might want to try there.

I had some Montalvos come from Tlatanenango Sanchez Roman, Zac which is nearby.

I think I have come across a Florencia Montalvo, but perhaps I am mistaken. One day I just decided to type in the surname Montalvo in the family search website under the state of Zacatecas and just look through records one by one to see exactly how many Montalvo's there could be.

Anyways, yes lets keep in touch. With such a rare name perhaps it can make it easier to trace a common ancestry.

Hello Cecilia,

You were asking about your family in Jalostatitlan, Jose Juan Olivar
and Maria Crescencia Padilla married in San Juan de los Logos in 1858.
I've been doing research on my Padilla line and just happen to come
across an entry on FamilySearch.com for:

Maria Engracia Olivar Padilla christened 8-17-1859
to: Jose Juan Olivar and Maria Crescencia in San Juan de los Lagos.

I don't know if that helps, but I will keep an eye out for this
couple. And, welcome to the group.

Hi, my name is Rita. Thank you for allowing me to be a member of your

For about two years,I have been researching my Grandfather's ancestors in
and around Colotlan.
I too have reached my g x grandfather, Plelipe Marquez de los Olibos married
to Francisca Xaviera Sanchez in early 1700.
Other g x grandfathers include, Diego de Santiago married to Bernarda de
Casas
and Bartholome de Cardenas married to Catharina Morillo, also in the early
1700s.
Included in my research are other g x grandparents, Juan Agustin Marquez
married to Juana de Abalos, in early 1700.
Other names in my research are Saldana, Gamboa, Solis, Ramos, Medina,
Vargas, Rivera, Tostado, Guizar,
Briseno, Dimaz, de Aro and Sandoval, just to name a few. Hello to all
my cousins out there.

Once again, thank you,

Hi Rita,

Welcome to the group. I am also searching in and around Colotlan.

I am not sure if you saw the emails from a couple of weeks ago but there was a discussion about Phelipe Marques de los Olivos and Francisca Xaviera Sanchez. They are also my ancestors and if you would like to compare information take a look at my files.

Also, I have done some research on Bartholome de Cardenas and Catharina Morillo. My ancestor Bartholome de Cardenas married to Barbara Gutierres lived during the same time period as your Bartholome. They both were listed as parents on marriage records in Colotlan during the same time period. So I thought they might be one in the same. With one of the women being first wife and the other second wife. I never was able to prove or disprove but I held onto the information just in case... Let me know if you are interested in what I have...

Another surname I am researching is Huizar/Huisar. I have also seen it spelled Guizar/Guisar. What are the names you are looking for?

Good luck on your search,
Angie Godina

Hi Angie,
Yes,I saw the article on Phelipe Marques de los Olibos.
Thanks for allowing me to compare information in your files.
In my records I have a Luis Joseph Marquez de los Olibos who married Juana Maria de Aro Sandoval(daughter of Thomas de Aro and Petrona de Sandoval)on May 22, 1754. The records show that Luis Joseph Marquez de los Olibos was the son of Joseph Antonio Marquez de los Olibos and Juana Francisca Gamboa.
source: Matrimonial Records of Tlaltenango,Zac. LDS film # 0443969

Your records show a Pasqual Venacio Marques, son of Joseph Antonio Marquez and Juana Francisca Gamboa. I haven't been able to find him. How did you find him?

I also think that Bartholome de Cardenas was married twice. In my searching I have found a Getrudis de Cardenas, daughter of Bartholo de Cardenas, no mother. Getrudis married Miguel Orosco on 08 Feb 1740 in Colotlan. Getrudis and Miguel were the godparents of baptism on 13 March 1757 in Totatiche, Jalisco for Maria Petra Ramos Cardenas, daughter of Juan Domingo Ramos Casas and Feliciana Victoria de Cardenas Morillo.

My Guizar/Huisar family started with Juan Joseph Romualdo Marquez, son of Juan Agustin Marquez and Juana de Abalos, married to Maria Monica Dimaz on 21 May 1750 in Colotlan. How he came up with the name Guizar is a mystery. The name of Guizar is given as the last name to some of his children.

Thanks for your help,
Rita

Hi Rita,

I found Pasqual Venacio Marques by accident... I was looking for all Marquez and Romero surnames in the film I was viewing. He came up since he is married to a Romero. His name didn't come up when I was searching for Marquez since the name was inputed in as Pasqual Venancio MARQZ. Pasqual's spouse is Margarita ROMERO. They were married on 2 MAY 1773 in San Luis, Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico. [BATCH NUMBER: M604652; DATES: 1752-1790; SOURCE CALL NO.: 0443782] I descend from Feliciano Acencio MARQUES and his wife Albina Victoria ROMERO. They were married on 7 APR 1766 in San Luis, Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico. [Same Batch Number]

Here is my Bartholome DE CARDENAS information. He was married to Barbara GUTIERRES. They had the following children:

1. Catharina DE CARDENAS who was married to Juan Mathias DE GAETA on 19 Jan 1722 in San Luis, Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico.

2. Maria Antonia DE CARDENAS who was married to Nicolas GODINA, son of Nicolas GODINA and Maria Ana DE LAMAS, on 29 Jan 1732 in San Luis, Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico.

3. Francisco DE CARDENAS who married to Juliana MUNOS LOPEZ, daughter of Joseph MUNOS and Melchora de los Reies LOPEZ BRAVO, on 24 May 1734 in Tlaltenango De Sanchez Roman, Zacatecas, Mexico.

4. Maria Rosa DE CARDENAS who was married to Miguel FERNANDEZ, son of Nicolas FERNANDEZ and Josepha TOSTADO, on 6 Oct 1735 in San Luis, Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico.

5. Juan Mathias DE CARDENAS who was married to Luiza Theresa MARQUES DE LOS OLIBOS, daughter of Francisco MARQUES DE LOS OLIBOS and Theresa RAMIREZ DE LA ROSA, on 12 Jun 1740 in San Luis, Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico.

6. Christobal de los Santos DE CARDENAS who was married to Antonia Petronila MARQUES RAMIREZ, daughter of Francisco MARQUES DE LOS OLIBOS and Theresa RAMIREZ DE LA ROSA, on 12 Jun 1740 in San Luis, Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico.

I descend from Juan Mathias CARDENAS and Catharina CARDENAS. I need to check the marriage docs and see whether or not it mentions if Bartholome DE CARDENAS or Barbara GUTIERRES were alive at the time of children cermonies.

I have temporarily misplaced the information I saved on the 'other' Bartholome married to Catarina Morillo. So I'll get back to you on that.

Thanks,
Angie

Angie,

Thanks, I found Pasqual Venacio MARQZ. I descend from Feliciano's
brother, Luis Joseph MARQUEZ DE LOS OLIBOS and his wife, Juana Maria DE ARO.
They were married on 22 May 1754, in Tlaltenango de Sanchez Roman,
Zacatecas, Mexico. (Source: Film # 0443969; Dates: 1754-1769; Batch:

Here is my information on Bartholome DE CARDENAS. He was married to
Catharina MORILLO. They had the following children:

1. Diego DE CARDENAS who married Maria Magdalena DE LA O, daughter of Onofre
DE LA O and Josepha PERES, on 01 Mar 1729 in San Luis, Colotlan, Jalisco,
Mexico.

2. Feliciana Victoria DE CARDENAS who married Juan Domingo Ramos, son of
Diego DE SANTIAGO and Bernarda DE CASAS, on 15 Feb 1733 in San Luis,
Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico.
Note: According to the marriage document of Feliciana and Juan Domingo in
1733, Bartholome was deceased.
(Source: Film # 0443671; Dates: 1718-1743; Batch: M604651 )
I descend from Feliciana DE CARDENAS and Juan Domingo RAMOS.

Note about Feliciano Acencio MARQUEZ and Albina Victoria ROMERO:
They were the godparents of Dominga Josepha Guisar, daughter of Juan Joseph
Romualdo GUISAR and Monica DIMAS, baptized on 15 Jul 1773 in San Luis,
Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico. I descend from Juan and Monica's son, Apolonio.

Thanks again,
Rita

Cecilia;

Welcome to the group! I am glad that you took the initiative to pose your inquiry right out there. That is what we are all here for, to help each other on our quest to find out ancestors.

As far as your GG grandparents, they are certainly indexed in the LDS databases, as the Altos area has very good records and they have almost all been indexed. I found your GG grandparents marriage on IGI:

CRESCENCIA PADILLA
Marriages:
Spouse: JUAN OLIVAR
Marriage: 13 OCT 1858
San Juan De Los Lagos, Jalisco, Mexico
Source Information:
Batch No.: M603414 Film No. 0220711

Unfortunately the IGI extract is not very complete and is missing the parents names so that will require that you head down to your nearest Family History Center and order the film so you can look up the record and see who their parents were. You can check our film database and see if another member has the film on indefinite loan and might be willing to do the look up and transcription for you.

Good luck.
