IGI & VRI batches database

We have a database out there of IGI and VRI batches. I just added a
column for people to post their name or userid who have the film on
permanent loan at their local FHC who wouldn't mind doing lookups for
others. This could become very useful if we all add our film numbers
to this database. You can leave the batch number column blank and
note 'film' in the source column if that particular film isn't on the
IGI or VRI.

Alicia,

I worked for about a year at the beginning,
with very few breakthroughs, but just enough tidbits to keep my appetite going.
My early research taught me many things the hard way – lots of experience
from mistakes.   As I moved into my second year of
research, I realized that this was definitely not going to be a piece of cake.  While there were a few dates & such
that I came across, I found much less than I had anticipated.

But I resolved two things:  First, to learn about everything I could
while I was on this ride…even if it wasn’t directly involved with
my ancestors; and second, to consider each ‘dead end’ a wonderful
confirmation of where my ancestor WASN’T. I just scratched that town or
date off the list & kept on with the next one.  It made for a different perspective…and
cemented my commitment to this lifelong journey.  No longer was I in a desperate hurry to find
the elusive baptismal or the mysterious ranch.  Instead I saved every piece of info I

Re: Luz Montejano & Interviews

I have communicated with Luz in the past (by
phone & email) and she is definitely an interesting person!  She was very gracious in helping me with some
information.  If you have specific
questions, I’d be glad to put some type of interview together.  It’s been a while since I’ve
written formal Spanish & I’m getting a bit rusty!  This would be a wonderful opportunity.  Interviewing Mariano Gonzalez-Leal would also
prove interesting.  If anyone needs help
formulating questions into more formal Spanish, I’d be happy to lend my
limited expertise.

I also have Luz Montejano’s book and
would be happy to do look-ups.  It proved
an invaluable resource – definitely worth it!

Take
care,

It covers the years of about 1636--1799.  The bulk of the years appear from the late 1600s until about the mid 1700s.  Send me some names and I'll check the book.

Rosalinda,

What years do the Mitra records cover?  Is it from 1685 to 1799?  You answered my prayer for someone to do look-ups for me, since I cannot afford $160.00  (old lady on a fixed income that I am).

Thanks,

Hi group,

I just thought I would add that the Sagrada Mitra book costs
$160.  I purchased it a few months ago, and it is tremendously helpful
and interesting.  It has a lengthy index, and the entries summarize the
relationships between pretensos.  As a favor to the group, I would be
happy to do lookups of names.  The book focuses on the areas within the
archbishopric of Guadalajara, from the late 1600s until the early 1700s.
If you want me to look up a name for you, send me the complete names of a

Anyone from Los Altos interested in asking Lic. Mariano Gonzalez-Leal if
he might be interested in doing a short interview on his work? I think
it would be so interesting to have him just explain the different phases
his work has gone through from when he first started to now. Can you
imagine the many many people his works have helped. yup this is a great
interview waiting for an Alteño to make it happen.

Arturo,

Take a look at the following data. As you can see this is all very
sketchy information but it is all I have right now on Pinedo. But is
is from the same places you're looking at.

Margarita Pinedo is my maternal great grandmother. Please keep a note
of this just in case some of the same names come up in your research.

Ancestors of Margarita Pinedo
First Generation

  1. Margarita Pinedo, daughter of Anselmo Pinedo and Catarina
Serrano, was born about 1852 in El Salto, Jalisco, México.

Margarita married Loreto Villagrana, son of Rafael Villagrana and
María_Luisa Del Real, on 18 May 1874 in Monte Escobedo, Zacatecas,
México.(1)

  Children from this marriage were:

           i. Julio Villagrana was born in Monte Escobedo, Zacatecas,
México.
ii. Severiano Villagrana was born in Monte Escobedo,
Zacatecas, México.
iii. Vicente Villagrana was born in 1886 in Monte Escobedo,
Zacatecas, México and died in 1944 in San Martin de Bolaños, Jalisco
