YDNA/MtDNA

Hi Joseph,
How does one go about getting the DNA testing? I think, now, I'm pretty interested.
Thanks

¿How do you do that?

 ¿How do you do that?

I found out how to create a shortcut to give you the upside down ¿ in Word.
It doesn't work in e-mail. I copied pasted this e-mail from Word.

Go into
Insert
Symbol
Symbols folder
Find the ¿ question mark upside down about 8 rows down second from the end
of the chart. Highlight the upside down ? mark ¿ and click on Shortcut
Key... Tab at the bottom of the Symbol screen.

This brings you to the Customize Keyboard where I then assigned ALT ? as my
shortcut key for the upside down question mark ¿

Hope this helps.

Kitty

Find the .paf file by doing a search for the name. Right click on the file
and choose properties. Uncheck "read only".

Spanish Question Mark

Regarding the upside down question mark (or should it be right side

sorry but I didn't get it. . .can you give us this last sentence in English?

thanks,

joseph

ps: are Teclas "keys" . . .actually as I'm reading it again I think I'm
getting it. Tell me if this is right, "Have you intended to use the
combination keys Alt to the right of the space bar and the Question mark
key? Is that close.

YDNA/MtDNA

I did both mine. I posted my Ydna results to the group but haven't for
my Mt dna. My Mt dna goes back to Africa probably a black slave got
into my line many generations ago.

I'm going to eventually make up a YDNA/MtDNA folder in the files area
where those that are interested can post their results. As far as I
know very few in the group have done dna testing. I'm hoping for more
interest as we grow older.

Alicia,

I agree. This really must be an exciting finding for Steven.
I've also wondered how many in the Ranchos group have done a DNA
study (either Y-DNA or mtDNA) or are considering doing one?

What is gradually showing up by those who have done genetic testing
is that most of us with Mexican roots have a European paternal
lineage and a Native American maternal ancestry.

Spanish Language Characters

Hi, Victor,

I understand what you said in Spanish about using right side ALT and the ? key to get the Spanish character for "el signo de interrogacion", but since I set my computer back to the factory settings, I have not tried it.  Does that work? (Sorry I couldn't respond in Spanish).  When I reset my computer for the Spanish characters I still might not be able to have that one character work.  I found that the exclamation character doesn't work with my MSN Explorer.  I don't have Outlook Express (Internet Explorer) because my MSN Explorer e-mail is web-based only in order to not have my e-mails to other Internet Providers blocked because I have a msn.com address on another e-mail account.

Thanks,

Yahoo ID/Passwoord for files and links

Joseph,

You asked my if I had been able to get into the files and links at Ranchos, and if I had a Yahoo ID and Password;

Yes, I have been able to get into the files and links, and yes I do have a Yahoo ID and Password.  I notice that I have to enter my Password to get to the files and links.

Jurisdiction for Olague

Joseph,

You asked me for a list of places in Zacatecas where my research for my Olague anetecedents has led me:

My Olague-Tinajero-Suriano [Soriano]-Flores-Rodriguez originated in Jerez or Tepetongo.  I have not found any mention of any Ranchos or other designated places in the vicinity of Jerez or Tepetongo.

I will update my trees in WorldConnect for both my Olagues and for my husband's Garcia-Cevantes when I get more information.  So I ask those interested to again check the links in my folder in a few weeks.

Thanks,
