A Reporter's Visit to Cuautla

Well Emilie,  similar circumstances evolved for my Leon families and my ancestors hometown people, in a general point of view,   I read the article and it refers to this kind of "conquest" phenomena
only the protagonists name changed.  It is in January the fiesta de los ausentes period and is dedicated to the Sagrada Familia.
Thank you.   Leticia Leon

I don´t think they are related with my family. Mine are from ranchos belonging to the municipality of Jesus Maria and Arandas in  also in Jalisco.   Some restaurant and taquerias (because my cousins point it to be a diference) names are "Jalisco", "Mexico", "Mexico Lindo", some of these are in a town named Killean (or something that sounds similar) Tx., one in Austin, Tx. is "Arandina" in honor of Arandas, Jal. Those in Virginia I don´t know the name yet.   Leticia Leon wishes you a year of realizations and hope.

Leticia,

Up here in Washington State, in the Northwest US, there are about 320 Mexican restaurants that are owned and staffed by people from a little place in Mexico called Cuautla, Jalisco.  Are you familiar with Cuautla?  On the map, it looks like it is way out in the middle of nowhere southeast of Guadalajara. It looks like most of the people in that town came up here.

Above is the link to the story about Lucy Lopez, the woman from Cuatla who
helped many from her home town become entrepreneurs in the Seattle area.

One historical era of my ancestors rancho started around the 1980's.
My ancestors land became the land of the absent (well regarding this
story matter), young people emigrated to US east side the most, and I
don't know yet how they started, but they opened taco shops -one brand
name is "taqueria Jalisco"-, one of the two pioneers died soon from
cancer illness, the other nowdays sells concessions of his brand name,

Alberto,

I have heard of the Hispanic or Latino heritage of Rita Hayworth (Rita
Cansino), Anthony Quinn (my father-in-law knew him in El Paso-Juarez in the
1920's as well as Gilbert Roland), but Walt Disney?  I heard from someone
in my Reveles line whose father worked at MGM in the 1920s-1940s and knew all
these people, that Walt Disney was a Spaniard of Sephardic Jewish heritage, but
that guy turned out not to be reliable.  He claims to be a Sephardic
Jew.  I found out later that the Reveles' in Los Angeles are all buried in
the Catholic cemetery, including this guy's father.   Where did you
hear about Walt Disney?  I have never heard of a reliable source for that
information.

Regarding Tomas Alva Edison...
A couple of years ago, I had a number of people from
Zacatecas tell me that Tomas Edison was originally
from Zacatecas. Hard to believe it, but possible.
And why not, Walt Disney was of latino parents. So was
Rita Hayward, Anthony Quinn, George Bush Jr., Governor
Richardson from New Mexico, the last major league
baseball player to hit over .400 (William's I
believe), Linda Ronstadt, and many others that I
cannot remember. And I sure there will many more
within our life time.

Hey, don't forget we come from great stock.
