Stuart,
I found some Platt books at: www.familyhistoryland.com/books.htm . I don't know if they still have them. If you can't find them, I could copy some sections out of my book (if you read Spanish) and mail them to you. My copy of the book is stamped on the back "Hispanic American Genealogical Association, PO Box 2650, Salt Lake City, UT 84110-2650", but I couldn't find that Association listed in the yellow pages.

Don Mariano Gonzalez Leal attended the conference at Valle de Gudalupe, Jalisco, held on August 2. He brought with him a proof set of his latest publication which will consist of 7 volumes:
#1-Historia y Antropologia
#2-Araiza---Cano
#3-Carlin---Garcia de Cuevas
#4-Garcia de Hermosillo---Guillen
#5-Gutierrez Coronado---Manso de Zuñiga
#6-Marin de Pedroza---Ramirez de Mendoza
#7-Ramirez de Olivas---Zubieta.
As for the cost, he said that it would be up to the Casa Editorial (printer/publisher) to set the cost.
Don Mariano had just received the books a couple of days before the conference for his review and approval. He mentioned that they could possibly be available to the public before the end of this year or early 2009.
The proof set of books is not only very attractive, but also made of high quality materials and the printing is excellent. I hope the same quality will carry through the production process. They average about 2 inches in thickness.

John, maybe we can as a group, encourage Don Mariano Gonzalez Leal to accept orders from Nuestros Ranchos members as priority or maybe we can set up within ourselves an order and verify and get commitments so we can convey this interest to him. I have his e-mail which I cannot give out but maybe he gave out a method of communications to people at the meeting.

Hello Miggy and Daniel,
I bought my books, tomo 1 and 2 from Rick Rodriguez threw Paypal.
He is the one who organized the meeting so I believe he would be the correct person to ask about the books.
I would be willing also like Daniel to buy all the books at once.
Sofia

I want to purchase both sets, since I still don't have the others, i am still interested in obtaining these infamous books, they print is gone, so there are only a handful out there for sale by private. -I have 3 reliable sources where to buy at least volume 1 and of course Rick usually gets both volumes. I am also interested in buying the upcoming 7 volumes of the new Retoños. It is hard to believe these new books should have about 30 years of research in them, no wonder their so thick! Since retoños I came out in the 80's. Even before I was born! -daniel

Hi Daniel:
I attended the conference at Valle de Guadalupe. During the conference
about 2o copies of "Retoños Vol 1" were delivered to Dr. Mariano Gonzalez
Leal. I was able to buy a copy at that time. I imagine he took the rest of
them back to Guanajuato with him.
I asked Dr. Mariano about the cost of the books and his answer was that he
had no idea, that it was up to the Casa Editorial (publisher) to set the
price and handle the marketing and distribution of the books. We will just
going to have to wait until they are released to the public sometime toward
the end of this year or the early part of 2009.
The books had been printed in Tapatitlan, which is just South of Valle de
Guadalupe. I believe this is the same source that Rick Rodriguez uses, you
might want to contact him.
John Gonzalez.

Hello John, thank you so much for the information. I purchased volum #1 from Rick, but it does not do me a lot of good because my
last name is ESPARZA but back when it started in Aguascalientes, it was written as Ruiz-ESPARZA so I will have to wait until that volume comes out.
I have read a number of the emails coming out of the conference and it appears that you folks had a real good time, I am very happy for all of you.
I continue on my search for my grandfather Crispin ESPARZA but have not had a lot of luck. I find his father Quirerio but not him. I have met a man here in Escondido who is going to teach me how to search on the Web by name and it appears that it is a pretty good means and a fast way of doing your search. I have to contact him tonight. Hope that, that will help me.
I am currently looking a 3 films at the LDS library and one is from Aguascalientes, looking for my grandfather and I have gone through the entire thing and no luck. I spoke with the last surving uncle, his name is Romon ESPARZA (my uncle) and he told me he thought my grandfather was from Zacatecas, I find that hard to believe, but then you never know. This uncle I spoke to is over 85 years old and he just can't remember a lot, yet that is what he told me. I know that my grandfather is out there and that with time and presistence I will find him.
Again, thanks for your interest and help. When the next volume comes out and it has the ESPARZA names please keep me in mind. Thank you very much.
daniel a. esparza
