Hi, I've read the film entry of Prudencio Marin de Errera where he married
Nicolaza Paula San Martin Estrada where he married in 1757
It says "no resulto impedimento alguno" and does not mention that he was a
"viudo".
Also, it says he was vecino del rancho de "Ojo dela rana"
It appears he might have been born about 1744
She was from the _________ dela Ena?
His father was Luis Marin Herrera and mother Maria Roza Serrano (both
deceased by 1757)
Her father was Gregorio San Martin Estrada and Maria Elena Magallanas
I am trying to figure out where they all were born??? Although both
Prudencio and Nicolaza are listed as "Espanoles", I truly doubt they were born in
Spain....
The reason I think that Prudencio might have been married several times is
that in batch number C607125, film number 443811 - a grandaughter born in 1817
(Maria Felipa de los Dolores) was born to PRUDENCIO HERRERA and MANUELA
ESTRADA and RODUCINDO DE ROBLES and PAULINA CABALLERO - the father was LUIS
HERRERA and RUFINA ROBLES. Additionally, there was another granchild born in 1825
with the same data: Jose Andres Herrera Robles - same parents.
But then in 1829, once again a grandchild was born Jose Francisco Herrera
Robles to Luis Herrera, and it states that the grandparents were Prudencio
Herrera and Paula Estrada.
Luis Herrera (son of Prudencio) was a widower when he married Rufina de
Robles.
Rancho La Era
I recently visited the Tlaltenango area for the first time, and I did confirm that the ranch in reference is El Rancho de La Era and not Loera or Ena. It still exists, outside of Tlaltenango.
Prudencio Herrera
Another interesting find that confirms your suspicion that the Pedro Herreras in Rancho de Loera are not your Prudencio Herrera...
There is a Prudencio Herrera, soltero who appears in the census under Rancho de Michaela Ponce, but just squeezed in at the end and the next rancho is none other than Rancho de las Ranas, where there appear two sets of Herrera brothers: Juan Antonio Herrera married to Lugarda de los Santos Orozco and Juan Pedro Herrera; and Luis Florencio Herrera married to Maria Tiburcia Perez de Texeda and Cayetano Valerio.
I am pretty certain that the two sets of brothers are all siblings and they are listed with their grandmother Petra Roldana, viuda. I know that the father of this second set of brothers was Cayetano Marin de Herrera and their mother was Ana Santiago de Llamas.
I know that Petra Roldana was mother of Cayetano Marin de Herrera through a marriage dispensation from Luz Montejano's book. I also know that Juan Pedro Herrera and Cayetano Valerio were brothers because their baptism records show the same parents, see IGI 12 Sep 1738 and 1 Mar 1736 baptisms or in my Tlaltenango families database.
Prudencio is likely related to these brothers, perhaps their uncle and also a son of Petrona Roldana?
Marin de Herrera in Tlaltenango
WOW....thanks so much...we were right! What year was this census recorded?
Does it say how old Nicolasa was?
Just curios...were there many other surnames that you were able to find
under both these ranchos.

Esperanza:
Going back through the census I am extracting there is another bit of information that might be helpful for you. In the same Rancho de los Loera where the first set of Pedro Herreras are found, there is the San Martin Estrada Magallanes family. The father is already passed away but the mother Maria Elena Magallanes is there with several children including Nicolasa San Martin:

Marin de Herrera in Tlaltenango plus Magallanes
I was noticing that I may be distantly related to Maria Elena Magallanas that you described from the Census.

Maria Elena's father Anttonio De Magallanes had a brother, Joseph De Magallanes, who is my direct ancestor. Here is the information I have for his family.

I wonder if Joseph Magallanes' wife, Maria Lucrecia Marin De Herrera is related to the family of Maria Elena Magallanes husband?
Helyn, these are the same Magallanes family that you and I share right?
Arturo, did you happen to see any of the above Magallanes familes listed in the census?
Thanks for the information,

Magallanes in 1754 Tlaltenango Census
Angie:
These are the Magallanes listed in the census. Note, these are only the persons who have a surname explicitly listed. Often times the surnames are omitted from the list of children's names after they are listed for the father and/or mother...
Magallanes:
Antonio
Bernardo
Christobal
Feliciana
Felix
Florencia
Francisca
Gertrudis
Gregorio Antonio
Joseph
Juana Justa
María
Pedro
Raimundo
Ygnacio
The main cluster of Magallanes is listed under El Rancho de Santa Cruz de la Guardia alias El Rincon de Correas, where Christobal Magallanes is listed with his wife Ysabel Correa and their children.
Re: Magallanes in 1754 Tlaltenango Census
Thanks, I do have that family of Christobal, but I don't have him linked to anyone. I am not sure if he is the same Xpttobal baptized in 1705. But I am related to the Correas (Ysabel's parents are in my direct line) and so have him listed with that family.
This is from information that I have collected from IGI:
Christoval DE MAGALLANES married Ysabel CORREA GONSALEZ daughter of Andres Martines CORREAS and Thomasa GONSALEZ. Ysabel was christened on 16 Feb 1711 in Tlaltenango De Sanchez Roman, Zacatecas, Mexico.
They had the following children:

Heyln sent me a bunch of information on the Magallanes family a while back and I am still trying to read through it all...and grasp all the different connections...
Thanks,

Marin de Herrera in Tlaltenango
Espanoles definitely does not mean they were born in Spain. It is simply a caste designation... so they were of the second-highest caste (next to peninsular, which would designate someone born in Spain). When someone is born in Spain, they go out of the way to mention it (as that would make them penisular) and state where in Spain they were born ... something like "natural de Madrid en los Reinos de Castilla"
I am still reading that Tlaltenango Marriage film from the 1600s and will keep my eyes open for any other "Marin de Herrera." Perhaps Luis was a brother of Cayetano?

Thanks---that would be great! I would love to share with my family that our
humble origins were in fact among the first to settle in Tlaltenango.
Thanks so much for keeping this in mind,

Marin de Herrera in Tlaltenango
Break through!!! Your suggestion that Marin Herrera was a surname was
extremely helpful.
Luis Marin Herrera married in 1733 Maria Rosa Serrano one of the parents
of Luis Marin Herrera was mentioned: "Lucia Marina" (could be Marin) - no
father mentioned.
I did see a Luis Marin Llamas born in 1731, whose father was Cayetano Marin
de Errera and mother was Ana Santiago Llamas. Like you, I believe Luis and
Cayetano were related...
Thanks so much for your insight. Now, back to work.
