I have connected my Ornelas line back to Alvaro de Ornelas who came from portugal to Mexico city in 1527. He was the son of El "Conde de Dornelas" his name was also Alvaro Dornelas. I have backed it up through Microfilm back to 1565 in Lagos de Moreno where the Alvaros son was born in 1567, and then the rest is just what the royals except the genealogy.
Here is what it looks like
Alvaro de Ornelas, Count of Dornelas, born ca. 1462 in Dornelas, Portugal
Alvaro de Ornelas born ca. 1494 in Lisbon, Portugal
Alvaro de Ornelas born ca. 1531 in Mexico City
Alvaro de Ornelas born 24 Mar 1567 in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco
I guess Alvaro was a family name!
If you keep going back to genealogy the Ornelas descend from the Pedro I, King of Portugal, through one of the Ornelas who married his daughter Princess Estefania of Portugal, and also King Robert II of France through one of his daughters, Princess Alembert of France and then the Kings of Aragon, though Princess Jimena of Aragon. The Ornelas are direct descedants of Ramiro III, King of Leon. Im also having this problem with other noble lines, but Im not sure whether just to except what has been established or keep searching. Im assuming the Nobility kept good records i suppose. Can anyone help me, Im really confused. What would you do? Thanks.
Ornelas famiyl
I descend from the ornelas family, Do you know who the parents of Alvaro Ornelas' wife petronila orosco are?
Can you please send me the info.
I have done extensive research on the connections of european royalty, the lara, mendoza and guzman familes To the families of los altos de jalisco and I missed the ornelas connection.
When you reesearch european royalty over the internet be careful of errors. I have found many of their conclusions to be unreliable.
Our work is only as good as our sources. Genealogists are like computers. Input good information and you get good results. Input feces and you get toilet paper. and you would only use that hard paper in an emergency.

You said "the rest is just what the royals except the genealogy". I don't understand that sentence. The "rest" is what?
I am interested in your message because my husband has Ornelas in his ancestry. Who are your Ornelas after the one born in Lagos de Moreno in 1567? Do you have a straight unbroken line from then until the late 1700s? I have traced my husband's Ornelas back to a Jph. Benito de Ornelas who was born in San Juan de Los Lagos, Jalisco in 1759. His parents were Jose de Ornelas and Maria Gusman or Maria de los Dolores Martin. Jose Benito married Ma. Ylaria Villalobos in Encarnacion de Diaz, Jalisco on Jan 16 1790. She was born in 1737 in Ayo el Chico. Did any of your Ornelas end up in Lagos, Encarnacion or Ayo el Chico?

How do you get evidence for Noble/royal lines?
Hello Emile, I have a solid line from 1770-1527 and then I just used the royal genealogies records and such. which extended from 1527 to about the year 900ad so far as i have looked, theres MUCH more but havent looked at alot of it. Im sure your husband and I connect because all Ornelas in Mexico are related. The Patriarch of the Ornelas surname was Alvaro de Ornelas, who came in 1527 to Mexico City and some of his children were born in Jalisco and Michoacan. My guess some of his children went settled throughout the rest of Nueva Galicia. Yes, many of my Ornelas were born in Encarnacion and Lagos, so your husband and i should connect, Ill see what i can find on Benito Ornelas, the name sounds familiar. I had gone on IGI and wrote down all the childrens name for each generation but havent had time too add them to my PAF so, Im not really done yet. I can tell you that your husband does descend from Isabel de Mendoza and Toribio Hernandez de Arellano. You can tell your husband he's a descendant of Pedro I of Portugal, Robert II of France and The King of Aragon. Im sure he'll be happy, now its just to connect it to my line. Ill be glad to help you, I hope this helps. Ill post the Ornelas Tree soon on Ranchos.

Daniel,
Thank you so much. My husband will be so pleased. He always acts so royal, now I can tell him he comes by it naturally, ha, ha. It will really go to his head. I will be pleased just to close that gap from Benito Ornelas and his father back to what you have found. Keep up the good work!
