Hello. My name is Rebekah Webb and I live in Missoula, MT. I have been interested in my family roots since I was a teenager but didn't have the tools and didn't know where to start at that age. My mother has a friend and my mother's father and her friend's father are both from Jerez, Zacatecas. My mother's friend had her father take a test and they found out that their ancestors were Jewish. My mother's friend told my mother that there is a possibility that hers are too. So now I am on a mission. I am really curious to find out if that is the case.
About my Grandfather's side of the family, my 2nd great grandparents Eleno Carrera and Floreincia Sandoval and their 9 children lived in Jerez, Zacatecas around the time that the Revolution started. Around 1914 only Floreincia and two of her daughters Marciala and Maximina were still alive. They remained on Rancho La Gavia until 1915. In 1918, Marciala met my Great Grandfather Miguel Ceballos in his hometown Jerez. He owned a pottery business. Floreincia had two more children Maria and Angel. According to my Aunt's interview with her father the two children were products of abuse brought on to her. She later married an older man, Plutarca Vesca. They had a child, Carmen. My 2nd Great Grandparents Cipriano Ceballos and Lucia De Avila were born in the 1860's. They came from el Solitral, a rancho located in the Sierra Madre Mountains in the state of Zacatecas. They married and left to Jerez, Zacatecas. They had 5 children, Miguel, Eleardo, Modesta, Roberta and Maria. He made his
living as a sheep tanner and continued to raise his family until approximately 1885.
In 1896, Miguel married a woman by the name of Isabel, who later became known as Juana Gallo? The marriage did not last very long; she got involved in the Revolution and ran off with the Colonel. Miguel left Jerez, he married again and later left her. He came back to Jerez where he remained. Then he met Marciala Carrera (my Great Grandmother). They were married by the state which wasn't accepted by their people, until they married by the church. They were married in 1961. They had 6 children in Jerez: Silbestre, Justine, Maria Luisa, Gregorio, and Victoria. In 1922 they purchased land outside of the city, which was 400 hecture. They built a ranch which they named Los Choitos but it was known as the Fortson. They owned it until 1934 when Miguel sold it to his brother in-law. After which he bought a store, and in 1938 he bought a pool hall. He also still owned his pottery business in the city of Herez.
My grandfather's birth certificate states that he was born on January 18, 1921 but his correct birthdate is December 31, 1920. My Grandfather's name is Silbestre Ceballos. His Aunt Maria was a nun of the Catholic Church and took him to church every weekend. Silbestre remained in Jerez until 1944. In Jerez he joined the civil service and he married Antemia. They had 3 children, Juanita, Jesus, and Julia, but this marriage did not last. In 1944 he joined the Southern Pacific Railroad in Zacatecas. He joined as a Tractro and was transported to Los Angeles and on Nov 30, 1946 he married my Grandmother who is still alive and in her 90's.
I would love to find out more about these people and the ranchos that I mentioned. My Grandfather is no longer alive nor is my Aunt who wrote a story on our ancestors. My other Aunts and Uncles are not very helpful and don't know much more besides what I already know. My Grandmother is not really up to speed these days so I haven't wanted to bother her.

No, I have not submitted it to any publications since according to a few of my Uncles some of the information is incorrect. I asked them what information was incorrect and they couldn't tell me. I got more of the impression that it was more of a matter of opinion. Everyone perceives things differently. Also it was my Aunt who interviewed her father and at that time he didn't speak English and refused to speak English and my Aunt didn't know much Spanish. It is possible that she didn't always hear him correctly. Until anything has been proven incorrect I am flying with the story because I think for the most part everything is correct.
Rebekah I have my files posted on Rootsweb.com. My file is names Mexico, you
can put in Cipriano Ceballos and go to the pedigree in text format to find the
lineage I have. I might be the one you are looking for even though is wife is
Luisa de Avila, worth checking out. Solitral records are in Tepetongo and
Jerez. I have a Florencia Sandoval but not her marriage so not sure she is the
one you are looking for, again you can see her lineage in the pedigree format
also.
