Hi George,
Here is a great online resource for historical info re: colonial Aguascalientes. I have not read it in its entirety, but I noticed that it does include a few details on early families. I hope it helps you!
George,
Another book by Beatriz Rojas dealing with early Aguascalientes society (also in Spanish) is, "Las Instituciones de Gobierno y la Elite Local. Aguascalientes del Siglo XVII hasta la Independencia. Beatriz, who by coincidence is the sister-in-law of one of my brothers, is native to Aguascalientes and a very acomplished academician. In this book she covers the entire span of socioeconomic development of Aguascalientes.
I believe this book can be ordered online from "El Colegio de Michoacan". For a preview go to: http://books.google.com/books?id=uvAkXvcU5KMC&dq=Hacienda+de+Penuelas&s…
George,
This is an excellent book, worthy of serious studying. I have a copy and have found it very useful in understanding the socioeconomic development of Aguascalientes. There is major transition in the aristocracy of Aguascalientes from the XVII century to the XVIII century. Colegio de Michoacan offers many interesting books for pennies on the dollar, though shipping makes up for it.

Thanks for the suggestion ... this looks interesting. Between Google translation and some help from my wife, I'll be able to read it!
