Hola Members/Primos,I was wondering who was the Father of Jose Munoz de Nava married to Micaela Gomez de Mendoza on Feb.10,1716 ,Tepatitlan -Jalisco catholic church records matrimonios 1686-1735 image 157,which gives no indication who is Father was but only that they were parientes al cuarto grado . It states though one of the Padrinos is Leonor Gomez de Mendoza (I suspect is Micaela 's sister). Javier Sanchiz Ruiz-Geneanet-has a Jose Munoz de Nava listed as son of Francisco Munoz de Nava(born 1651 in Teocaltiche) and Leonor Ramirez de Hermosillo, who shows no indication of a marriage of Jose. There is another Jose Munoz de Nava listed as son of Francisco Munoz de Nava(born april 21,1654 Aguascalientes) and Margarita Tiscareno,who is stated Jose to to be married to Micaela Gomez de Mendoza. Familysearch.org has the opposite Jose Munoz de Nava,listed as son Francisco Munoz de Nava and leonor Ramirez de Hermosillo, married to Micaela Gomez de Mendoza. In short how does one fig

If you look at the children of José Muñoz de Nava on the site of Javier
Sanchiz Ruiz you will notice a source of info which is Luz Montejano
Hilton, Expedientes de la Serie de Matrimonios, Sagrada Mitra de
Guadalajara which might mean there is another dispensa that has conflicting
information. This would not be the first time for this to happen. I have
seen dispensas with errors at least six different times. Twice with Macías
Valadez family members, once with Moreno de Ortega, once with Villalobos,
once with Santoyo, and another one mentioned here on Nuestros Ranchos. You
should attempt to find the dispensas for the following people.

I suspected it was at the old site but I couldn't find it. I've found it
now. It is most likely based off a family group sheet submitted by Jaime
Holcombe Isunza found in film number 1396255. You should order the film and
copy the family group sheets in it that he has submitted because he would
note his sources at the bottom of the page. You can order it at the

was the cousin of Agustín Garcia de Hermsillo. It also states that Leonor
Ramírez de Hermosillo was the grandmother of the groom. If this information
is correct then the information that is on Javier Sanchiz Ruiz's site is
incorrect. It would be best to find more records to corroborate this info.
One way would be to find the dispensa of the original couple in question -
Jose Munoz de Nava married to Micaela Gomez de Mendoza on Feb 10, 1716
Tepatitlán by looking through Guadalajara Matrimonios 1716-1718 film 167985
which seems to be the only volume that hasn't been indexed that would have
the dispensa for that particular marriage.

Yes, that is all you need for confirmation that José was the son of Francisco Muñoz de Nava and Leonor Ramírez de Hermosillo. There is now no doubt. Errors I have seen have been with grandparents and great grandparents. José would have known who his parents were.

By the way, the other Joseph Muñoz that was the son of Francisco Muñoz and Margarita Tiscareño married Antonia de Carrion y López de Oropesa circa 6 April 1703 based on the Información Matrimonial record that Robert Fulton indexed. In this record he uses the compound surname Muñoz de Hermosillo. They were the parents of Alexo Muñoz de Hermosillo.
