I am watching a documentary about Zorro and it talks about a write in Mexico named Vicente Riva Palacio.
In minute 4:10 of this video it says that in 17th Century Mexico, the Inquisition Institution kept detailed records of its investigations:

I am just wondering then that archive may have good information to look through.
In the video it continues to talk about someone by the name of Guillen Lombardo, who moved to Mexico in 1640 and was tried by the Inquistion. He was not Spanish, but was Irish. His real name is William Lamport.
