I was reading this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nueva_Galicia
" Nueva Galicia's territory became the present-day states of Aguascalientes, Colima, Jalisco, Nayarit and Zacatecas"
But after looking at the Catholic Church Archives of La Nueva Galicia. It often starts out mentioning the Obispo de Guadalajara de La Nueva Galicia de las provincias de Nayarit, Coahuila, Durango, Los Californias, Texas Del Consejo.
Was Texas/Los Californias
I don't think they were part of the Kingdom of Nueva Galicia, but rather separate provinces. They just were under the religious authority of the Bishop of Guadalajara since they did not have yet their own bishops.
I'm currently checking some Diócesis de Guadalajara microfilms from the 1700's where they mention "la cuidad de Monterrey, del Nuevo Reino de León, de este obispado", so, it is a city in a different Kingdom under the authority of the Bishop of Guadalajara. Nuevo León didn´t have its own bishop until 1776 when the Linares Diocese was established.
