My name is Norma (Username: Normrivmat), and I am very grateful to be accepted into the Nuestros Ranchos community. My research focuses heavily on the border regions of eastern Aguascalientes and southeastern Zacatecas, specifically around Real de Asientos, Ojo Caliente, and Bimbaletes.
My Fully Documented Lineage:
- Grandmother: M. Leonor Rosales Saldívar (b. May 14, 1908, Real de Asientos, AGS).Her birthday is also known as April 11, 1908 She married J. Rafael Dueñas Valadez on February 9, 1928, at Las Norias de Guadalupe, Bimbaletes, ZAC.
- Great-Grandparents: Susano Rosales & Ambrosia Saldívar. I have verified their parentage via their March 16, 1895, Marriage Investigation file from Ojo Caliente, ZAC.
- Great-Great-Grandparents: Genaro Rosales & Dionisia Vázquez. Genaro passed away on April 6, 1906, in Real de Asientos, AGS (calculated birth year ~1846).
What I Am Searching For & Why:
My primary brick wall is finding the parentage of my great-great-grandfather, Genaro Rosales (b. ~1846). His 1906 civil death certificate unfortunately omitted his parents' names, and his 1895 son's marriage investigation only names him as a surviving parent, not going back another generation.
I am actively searching for Genaro Rosales’s own marriage record to Dionisia Vázquez (likely between 1865–1876) or his baptism record around 1846.
The Reason for Precision:
There is a strong family oral tradition suggesting our Rosales branch is related to the family of Saint Román Adame Rosales (b. 1859, Teocaltiche, Jalisco). Some online public family trees assert that Genaro was a sibling to the Saint's mother, Manuela Rosales, meaning his parents would be Martín Rosales and Juana Antonia Gutiérrez. However, I want to keep my tree strictly verified and do not want to merge these lines without primary source verification.
If anyone has indexed or browsed the parish books for Asientos, Pinos, Ojo Caliente, or neighboring areas from the 1840s–1870s and has run across this Rosales-Vázquez branch, I would be incredibly grateful for any guidance, microfilm roll suggestions, or record lookups.

1. Wenceslao Rosales married María de los Dolores Macías on 18 April 1825 in Encarnación. Wenceslao is the son of Matías Rosales and Ambrosia Campos; and María de los Dolores is the daughter of Pablo Macías and Juana García (probably the source of the García last name used in later generations mentioned in Manny's post).

2. Matías Rosales married María de los Dolores Macías about Feb 1817 in Asientos. Their 'información matrimonial' (prenuptial investigation) names Matías as the son of Agustín Rosales and Feliciana Amador; and María de los Dolores is the daughter of Victorino Campos and Luciana Candelas.

3. Agustín Pioquinto Rosales married María Feliciana de Amador on 28 Aug 1777 in Ciénega de Rincón. Agustín is the son of Jerónimo Rosales and María de la Torre; and María Feliciana's parents are unknown as she was registered in her marriage records as 'hija de padres no conocidos'. María Feliciana also used the last name of Castillo.

According to the baptism records of their children, Genaro was the son of Wenceslao Rosales and Maria Dolores Macias, who were apparently from Encarnacion de Diaz, Jalisco. Here is the marriage record of his parents:

Maria Dionisia Vazquez also used the surname Garcia (they are the same person; if you notice, on son Buenaventura’s baptism record, she is called Garcia, while on his death registry, she’s called Vazquez). The names of her parents vary in the records (and so do those of Genaro’s parents on the baptism records of twins Juan & Juana). This was a common mistake, especially in towns where the parents' didn't originate. Here are the baptism records I've found for their children:

Baptized 17 Jul 1836, 7 days old; they listed his mother as Maria Dolores Mendez, though they have her parents' names correct. "Mendez" might be a typo, or maybe it's an ancestral surname.
