Calvillo, Aguascalientes church records have me believing that they may be the same person. The names Merced Medina and Merced Macias come up in records naming her as a parent or grandparent.

I completed the transcriptions of Aguascalientes christening records
up to 1752. These records (1726-1752) were from la hacienda de
Santiago de Guadalupe, feligresía de la Villa de Aguascalientes.
