Need help reading death document please

Hi,

Can someone please help me identify the name of the Ranch where he passed? It's hard to read and I'm thinking Rancho Altamiraro or Atlamirano?

First page last record for Juan Hernandez.

Familia Escoto

Saludos,

Hello everyone

I came across this information on the Informacion matrimonial of Tomas Castañeda con Josefa Orta (3.grandparents) as they were related... the record I'm referring to is:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-K49X-5V?i=119&cc=18745…

Does this mean that there would have been a dispensa? or is the little piece of paper is the priest giving them the okay?

What are your thoughts?

Comments

Comment

A dispensa would not have been required as the relationship is between the 4th and 5th degrees. You are very lucky that they provided this as it gives you even more information then an average dispensa. Dispensas are for fourth degree or less, which is third cousin or closer.

From the information that we see in this record, and other marriage and baptismal records, I was able to put this family tree together. Here is this Castaneda family tree:

Castañeda

1. Pedro Ramirez and Damiana Castañeda y Velasco are the parents of
1.1. Nicolas Ramirez Castañeda married to María Josefa Bejarano Monroy, parents of (1.1.1 José Miguel and 1.1.2 Salvador)

1.1.1 José Miguel Giordano Castañeda married to María Candelaria Lopez,
1..1.1.1Juan Antonio Castaneda Lopez married Rita Gertrudis Plancarte
1.1.1.1.1. María Josepha Castañeda married to José Vicente Orta Del Río
1.1.1.1.1.1. Vicente Orta Castañeda and María Ana Alcaras
1.1.1.1.1.1.1. Vicenta Orta married to 1.1.1.2.1.1.1. Tomas Castañeda (third cousins once removed)

1.1.2 Salvador Castañeda Lopez married to Manuela Contreras Romero
1.1.2.1. Vicente Guadalupe Castañeda married to María Guadalupe Garcia
1.1.2.1.1 Matías Castañeda Garcia married to Francisca Mendes
1.1.2.1.1.1. Tomas Castañeda married to 1.1.1.1.1.1.1 Vicenta Orta (third cousins once removed)

María Guadalupe Garcia is how you are related to me. From her maternal grandmother she descends from the Garcia De Alba and Martin del Campo families.

Wow Rick!

This is amazing... you have made my day!!

I was indeed lucky to have that piece of paper with the relationship outlined and the family tree,

For the longest time I thought I had come to a brick wall with that line of my ancestors as the baptism record for Tomas Castañeda said his grandmother was Josefa Alcaraz and not Guadalupe Garcia (our common ancestor), but I never bothered to check the rest of his siblings until you pointed it out for me, now I realized it was a mistake as they often made in those times with changing or switching names.

Most of my most recent research is in Spain and France. Just this past week I connected a couple of ancestral lines to the Castañeda family in Spain. They are ansectors of my Reynoso line. I have traced the line to the first Señor De Castaneda.

Matías Castañeda García married my 5th great grandfather Francisco Méndez de Torres y Méndez de Torres' second cousin, Francisca Méndez de Torres y Verduzco on 3 Jul 1817 in Tamazula. Their grandchild Primitivo Castañeda Orta would later marry my second great aunt Felipa Serrano y Gutiérrez de Mendoza on 1 May 1878 in Tamazula.

Thank you for sharing, I'm glad we share a close connection. Lots of intermarriage between the Méndez de Torres, Chávez, Castañeda, Orta, Alvarez del Castillo and Ochoa Garibay families in Tamazula--it's definitely a project fitting each piece together.

Dear Daniel,

It is great to have your input.

I have María Guadalupe García as the daughter of Juan María Garcia De Alba and Maria Manuela Uribe.

Juan Maria Garcia De Alba is the son of Lucas Garcia De Alba and Ysabel Martin del Campo.

Do you have any information on Lucas Garcia De Alba and Ysabel Martin del Campo?

Thanks,
Rick A. Ricci

Comment

Hi Rick,

I don't have anything solid on Juan María García de Alba and Isabel Martín del Campo. However, I believe he may be the son of Juan García de Alba y Ortega Maldonado and his wife, Juana de Robles Rico y Villaseñor, they settled in Ameca and had numerous succession between 1695-1715. I hope the following clues assist (may already have these) us on some of Juan and Isabel children's baptism. You can see their padrinos were relatives:

Juan María García de Alba y Martín del Campo baptism:
Bautizo: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-XDS6-QR?i=478&cc=18745…
Padrinos: D. Juan Martín del Campo y Da. Manuela García de Alba

Juana Gertrudis García de Alba y Martín del Campo baptism:
Bautizo: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-XDSD-5C?i=502&cc=18745…
Padrinos: Joseph Ruiz y María Martín del Campo

María de Jesús García de Alba y Martín del Campo baptism:
Bautizo: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-XDSD-NF?i=527&cc=18745…
Madrina: Da. María Martín del Campo

I believe the madrina, Manuela García de Alba is the same as daughter of Juan García de Alba and Juana de Robles Rico, baptized on 2 Jun 1709 in Ameca.

One last record, another close link exist with the old alteño families. Manuela had a sister named Andrea Xaviera García de Alba, baptized on 21 Feb 1700 in Ameca and married José Pérez Franco y Gutiérrez de Hermosillo Rodas on 19 Jul 1722 in Ameca.

One last close connection here, Matías and Francisca had another daughter, Luisa Rafaela Castañeda y Méndez de Torres baptized on 28 Aug 1833 and married on 5 Nov 1853 in Tamazula. She who was the third and final wife of Dolores de Valencia y Figueroa, my third great grand-uncle from Cotija, Michoacán.

So, I looked at what you shared and it appears to me that you’ve done a thorough job. I think you’re on the right track and I agree with your findings. Yes, it would be better if all of the names and ages were consistent and 100% accurate across all of the records, but I think you should feel confident with what you’ve discovered so far. (Every time I find myself in your situation, coping with uncertainty in the records, I remind myself that many of my ancestors were illiterate and didn’t carry ID in their wallets.)

You didn’t mention the following so I am including them here.

Hi Mr. Alvarez,

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post and looking into it, I really do appreciate it. I will continue with my research w/the ancestors I have found and I feel much better about it now. I already had the other marriage document BUT you don't know how excited I am for your new find the padron, about two weeks ago I went through this book but didn't find anything on them but I was looking for the ranch of Tarimoro. You don't know how happy I am that you found it and so quick. Josefa Hernandez was his grandmother and I think you right about that being her on the other page. So I wonder if the other Hernandez in that ranch are family members as well.

Once again thank you!!! :-) You have motivated me again to continue with my research, maybe one day I will find my great great fathers and other two childrens baptism documents.

Good night

Hi,

So I have found several new documents on the parents of Buenaventura Hernandez Martínez and I’m having doubts again hehe. I found death reg. Of another son of Juan Hernández and María Guadalupe .
José Catasino Hernández of Tarimoro.
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-FQ9L-ZW

I also found the death reg. For Juan Hernández and he passed away 1844.
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-FQ9G-66

So there is no way that he is the father of Buenaventura Hernandez because he was born around 1850. I did find two other documents showing Guadalupe having two other children out of wedlock in el rancho viejo where they lived. So I’m pretty sure it’s the same person.
Cornelia Ramirez and Pedro Ramírez
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-VB9W-LY?from=lynx1UIV7
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939L-V49W-H5?from=lynx1UIV7

So the only reason I think this might be her is because of the daughter Sanjuana on her marriage reg. It say she is an hija natural but in all her children baptism she put Kuantan’s her father. So I’m thinking she had Buenaventura and Modesto out of wedlock as well??? All of Buenaventura’s children baptism’s have the grandparents with both as well as his marriage reg. I have seared hundreds of pages in different municipales and can’t find his baptism reg. For the life of me. This is sure a very complicated couple hehe.

Has anyone ever ran into this issue where you can’t find a baptism document?

Thank you
Esther

Bautismo bajo condicion?

Hello Prim@s,

Comments

Comment

it's a conditional baptism. because they couldn't verify whether the child was validly baptized. there could be lots of reasons but the most likely one is that there was an emergency baptism because the child was sick and the person baptizing may not have been sure that it was done properly.

Danny

Comment

Thanks for your response, you are right in your answer as this child died shortly after, but I wondered why bajo condicion, it must have been very obvious that the baby would die soon so they must have performed an emergency baptism.

I find all this things oddly fascinating!

Don’t believe the family tree that some people post which shows Manuel Coria Peralta as the son of Conquistador Diego Coria. He was a descendant of his, but not his son. Manuel Coria Peralta Regado descends from the Lopez Peralta family. Through this line you will find French ancestry in your dna.

Manny Diez Hermosillo, Daniel Serena Valencia, Enrique Agraz. Marcelina-Fabiola Macias and other genealogists contributed greatly to my research on these lines.

Hi Frank,

I agree with Rick. Please provide more information on your findings: names, dates, locations and weblinks to the documents you have. To be specific, my Duran and Muñoz lines are from Nochistlan, Zacatecas which is in the southern part of the state and only a few kilometers from Jalisco. My first documented Duran is Juan Ximon Duran Duque who married Regina de Aguayo around 1625. One of their daughters, Maria Duran Aguayo, married Nicolas Muñoz de Leon, my first documented Muñoz, in Nochistlan on May 6, 1640. All the Duran's I have researched have come from Juan Ximon and Regina. As for my the Muñoz, I have confirmed 2 different Muñoz lines in Nochistlan. My studies have found other Muñoz lines in the area referred to as "Los Altos de Jalisco". If I remember correctly one of those Muñoz lines was from Jalostotitlán, Jalisco.

The motive for abandonment of an infant could be poverty, or, it could be a cover-up for a child out of wedlock, a rape, a case of incest, or even a kidnapping.

Rick...thank you so much for your comment. If you know anything else or come upon information, I would appreciate the send to me. I will also add, that the Angels were listed as Mulattos & Color Quebrado in the 1790 census. My DNA also shows North African ancestry as well as some from the Middle East and "Jewish". My guess is that the Angels were "Marranos" or "Anusims", maybe from Morocco, Algiers or Tunisia. I see the Angel, Ocana and Ramirez names listed in Inquisition files quite frequently.

New Mexico was considerered a safer place for Anusim to blend in as it was what we in the United States grew up calling “the Wild West.” I descend from Toribio Hernández Arellano who had cousins with the surname Sanchez who were Anusim that settled in New Mexico. I have a Villalpando ancestor that was born in Taos New Mexico because his parents had gone there to visit relatives. After his birth the family returned to Jalostotitlan, Jalisco. My Robledo ancestors moved from New Mexico to Los Altos De Villa Nueva, Nueva Galicia.( modern day “Los Altos De. Jalisco”).

I did much research of New Mexico ancestries when I researched the ancestral family tree of NFL quarterback Jim Plunkett. This past year I did some more research on New Mexico ancestries when I worked on my cousin’s husband’s ancestry. Work on his family tree was easy because he had many ancestors in common with Jim Plunkett.

Marcial Ángel de Ocana and María Ramirez are the parents of Juan Lorenzo Angel De Ocana.

Juan Lorenzo Ángel de Ocana and María Antonia Jimenez are the parents Francisco Xavier Eugenio Angel De Ocana.

Santiago Ramirez and Maria Petronila De Leiba are the parents of Vicenta María Ramirez.

I will add that Lorenzo Angel was the son of (Francisco)Xavier and Maria Ramirez. Lorenzo is not listed in the 1750 census of Santa Fe, but his wife and child are in the home of Xavier and Maria Ramires. There are 4 other children associated with them: Maria Ynes, Gregorio, Maria Juana Caterina and Miguel.

ANGEL, Xavier, Maria Ramires, Maria Jimenez, Gregorio, Miguel, Ynes, Juana, 1 child

Further proof of (Francisco) Xavier Angel exists in a 1738 Land sale where Santiago Ramires gives himself as the "Cunado" or brother-in-law to Francisco Xavier Angel. (I can send you the file...to large for here)

Marcial Xavier appears in the same 1750 Census in the house of Santiago Ramires and Petra Luisa. Marcial was married to Santiago and Petrona's daughter, Maria de la Candelaria Ramires.

SF marriages p. 6 - Aug 16 1734 - Marcial Angel de Canas m Maria de Candelaria wit/illegible Rodriguez and Clara Lugarda n.s.

1750 Census...same citation as before.

RAMIRES, Santiago, Petrona Luisa 2 children, Gregoria Ramires, Marcial Angel, Maria de la
Concepcion, Manuela Antonia, Maria Josefa, 2 children

Marcial and Maria de la Candelaria produced their Francisco Xavier Angel in 1752 and several other children.

I am descended from Xavier and his son, Miguel.

Thank you for the information you provided. How did you come to do the research on the Angel Ocana family?

My research will start by centering in the Cienega de Mata and Ojuelos de
Jalisco area and probably Aguascalientes as well looking for Durán and
Muñoz surnames. I'm still new to this, before finding "Nuestros Ranchos," I
recently began my search after finding a written copy of my grandfather's
birth record dated July 1877, at "Hacienda Cienega de Mata. Recently found
grandfather's parents marriage cert. from May 1868, Ledesma Ojuelos de
Jalisco on My Heritage site. Can't find much else on the area thus far,
don't want to encroach on anyone's research in this area of Jalisco, can
anyone point me where/which direction to go from here?

Frank,

Cienega de Mata and Ojuelos are close to Aguascalientes. You may want to look there. Also if you tell us who you're looking for, we may already have them researched.

What does this symbol mean

Hi,

I am going through the baptism registrations looking for a great great mother and have noticed a circle with an X in the middle next to some of the names, does anyone know what it means?

Comments

Comment

Record keepers used various symbols in the margins in registros and padrones and their usage was not uniform or consistent. In some instances the record creator shared with the reader what those symbols represented but often they did not, and so we may never know for sure their intended meaning.

In the second example you shared in this thread, the baptisms on image 480, the cross might represent that the individual later received another sacrament in the parish, such as the sacrament of matrimony. Or, perhaps it means that the baptism was performed as an act of charity (de limosna). I say this because a few individuals in the registro have sums above their names, like the 100 for María Franca. de la Luz española de la Barranca de las Viudas on image 485.

In your other example, from the padrón, we know the meaning behind the cross in the margin because the writer stated on the first page of the padrón the following:

“. . . el Padrón de esta Feligresía de Ayo el Chico: Los que van con Cruces han cumplido con los preceptos anuales (confesión y comunión), y los q[u]e no son por ausentes y enfermos, y lo están verificando Sucesivamente.”

Thank you Esther! I thought so, just needed some confirmation.

It looks like El Saucito is actually closer to Santa Maria del Valle, than to San Miguel el Alto. Which makes sense, since many of their children (including my GGrandfather) were born near there.

Below is the record ID for what could possibly be your family on www.familysearch.org. Many people have worked on this couple since 2011 but they were not merged togehter because the name Membrila, Manbrila, Mamvrila etc. had many spellings and Juana de Orosco is also Joanna de Orosco during this early period. There is also another couple named Francisco Nicolas married to Juana de Orosco during this time period though the Francisco Nicolas does not appear with a surname on many records so may not be the same couple as it was in Tonala, Jalisco.

Nicolas Mambrila
1710–Deceased • LTG7-TWL
Juana De Orosco
1712–Deceased • LTG7-Y5Y

Thanks for the record IDs, unfortunately, there's no record for the parents of Nicolas or Juana. In one of the marriage records for their daughter, Anna Maria Cc Juan Urbano Garcia says that she was from Valle de COtija, im assuming the parents were from cotija as well. I search for Francisco Nicolas and Juana De Orosco and i don't think they're the same couple. The earliest baptism record for them is 1697 she would atleast have to be 20 years old. Nicolas Membrila and Juana baptism record for daugter MAria Gertrudis is in Tamazula 1739 that would put her at almost 60. Their youngest Nicolas Jr was born about 1750, so i don't think it the same Couple, but i will locate the image for Francisco Nicolas and see what I can find.

Thank You very much

I'm not sure if that is the one you are looking for, but it does seem to work if you copy and paste. That name just sounded very familiar to me.

My deepest appreciation for you taking time to answer my question. The link does open, Thank you so much. I don't see the name of the Tellos ranch on the map. Can you tell me if this is saying where to locate/pinpoint the ranch: "a 12 kilometros al N. de la cabecera muncipal." Can you tell me where it's indicated? I'm still looking for my ancestors who lived and born in that ranch and moved around the surrounding towns. Trying to find them but need an idea what other cities/towns to research on Family Search. I can't be sure, but, the Tellos I'm searching for may have come from the Tello de Orosco lineages. I need to research deeper into it. Not trying to insult anyone.

Comment

I hope i am sending you in the right direction. If you zoom in to the very bottom of the map, around the J of Juchipila (name of the municipalidad, not the cuidad), you see Mezquital del Oro right above the J of Juchipila. And then Northwest of the L of Mezquital, you see Tellos (the T of Tellos is right above the L of Mezquital). It does not say "rancho" but if you look at the key, the rectangle with the piece missing indicates rancho. Tellos is there by itself, between the border of the municipalidades of Juchipila and Tlaltenango. I know there has to be other ranchos, but they are not listed. My grandfather was from Rancho del Tanque, which i believe was northeast of Mezquital del Oro, and they also lived in Rancho La Nopalera which was also near Mezquital but I don't know in what direction. I hope this helps :)

I found the Tellos Ranch! Yay! Thank you so much for your most kind directions navigating the map. I'm so excited to see so many of the other ranchos and cities mentioned in the documents for my ancestors. My ancestors are also from Rancho del Tanque and almost all the surrounding towns and ranchos from San Pedro de Ocampo down to Mezquital del Oro. I can't imagine how they managed to travel such long range distances considering the conditions that existed in the era.

Sandra, fabulous maps! Thanks for sharing.

According to the Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (INEGI) website, this is the Google Maps location of los Tellos:

https://www.google.com/maps/@21.2871082,-103.3555975,1608m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en

To locate los Tellos on the INEGI website one has to check the box for Rurales and then zoom in to Mezquital del Oro. Also, in the map, change the view from Mapa de INEGI to Satélite de Google for the visual location.

https://en.www.inegi.org.mx/temas/mapas/topografia/

It seems this place is no longer inhabited by many people.

Andrea, with this new data, now I can disregard the speculation of Manuel de Escobedo being the son of Antonio Carlos de Escobedo and Salvadora De La Torre. In the baptismal document, it clearly states that the parents of Manuel de Escobedo were Joseph de Escobedo and Juana de Renteria. Now the next step is to find out who were the paternal and maternal grandparents of Manuel de Escobedo? I greatly appreciate the information you have provided.

Yes, I have to Diego de Temiño, from Seville. He is one of my 13th great-grandfathers. He left Spain to immigrate to the New World on 13 Jun 1518, going first to Cartagena, Colombia, then to Mexico. His name is found in the Inquisition records of Seville. Los Conversos y la Inquisición Sevillana, by Juan Gil, Universidad de Sevilla, 2001, vol 5, p. 385.

Diego de Temiño must have headed first to one of the islands, be it Cuba or Dominicana. By 1518 there was no Cartagena, Veracruz was founded in 1519.

And beyond. I am currently doing most of my work on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. I have gone back another hundred years, crossed another border, and am currently working on a French ancestral line of the Reynoso family that goes back to Charlemagne.

My genealogy is still a work in progress but to answer your question, on my paternal line Barbosa I've hit a dead end, as my ancestor who I believed to be born around 1740 was from Cotija, Michoacan, he died in Tamazula de Gordiano, Jal. in 1811, and Cotija's records have been lost.

On my maternal side I have gotten further back but all in Mexico, I would love to find one of my ancestors on their journey to America and then track them in Europe, that would be very exciting!

Hi Nancy,

I would need more information to positively identify your grandmother Aurelia Lomeli. Is her second surname Carranza? Do you have a birthdate or any other information that would help indentify her? The church would have information on your great aunt that was a nun.

Good luck in your research,
Rick A. Ricci

Hi Nancy,

All of this information that I posted here on your great grandmother’s ancestry came from baptismal or marriage records. Here is a little more information on some of yourancestors:

Thomas Regalado (bap. 12/Dec/1731) is the son of Bernardo Regalado and María Quiteriia Orosco (aka Losa, aka Ramirez). That María Quiteria used three different surnames may help in figuring out her ancestry.

Tomas was married to María Alejandra Cortez, (daughter of Nicolas Cortez and Gertrudis (?Romero) I am not sure about Gertrudis’s surname. Thomas had a second marriage to María Margarita Losa, but you descend from the first wife. A grandchild’s baptismal record erroneously names her as a grandmother but she was a step grandmother . Due to Thomas’s mother using the “Losa” surname often, I believe that there is a strong chance that his second wife is related to his mother.

I have much more info on some of the ancestors of some of the wives that I posted in your Lomeli line. I also previously posted info on the probable ancestral line of Carlo Lomellini. Some other genealogists have posted here in nuestrosranchos info on the ancestry of María Benavides.

Thanks,
Rick A. Ricci

All of this information is very interesting to me. I actually just bumped into one of your topics on Carlo. Everything I was reading was very knowledgeable and interesting. I've always been the curious type so the more I find the more into it I get. And, did you finally published your book? If so, what is the name of it?
Thank you for helping me with this. I am forever grateful to you!

Dear Nancy,

Was your great-grandmother married to Pedro Aceves? If Pedro Aceves was your great-grandfather, did you descend from Ester,Estefania, or María del Refugio?

Thanks,
Rick A. Ricci

Comment

Yes I do!!
Esther was my grandmother. She was married to Rafael Barba. We never met them, so we knew very little about that side of the family. Pedro's father was Calixto Aceves and Calixto's father was Toribio Aceves and Toribio's father was Jesus Aceves. That's as far as I have gotten there.

Dear Nancy,
I am related to you many, many times. The closest relationship that I have found is that we are sixth cousins repeatedly through your Barba ancestry. I am not listing your Barba ancestry here as it would take too long to post the ancestry of your grandfather Rafael Barba. I can send you Rafael BARBA’s ancestry through the regular mail.

Here is more information on your Aceves ancestry:

1) Esther Aceves is the daughter of Pedro Aceves and Aurelia Lomeli

2) Pedro Aceves (bap. 2/July/1899) is the son of Calixto Aceves and Juana Morales (daughter of Liberato Morales and Ma.Estanislao Valdivia).

3) Calixto Aceves is the son of José Thoribio Aceves and María Estefana Fernandez (daughter of José Reyes Fernandez and Nieves Navarro).

4) José Thoribio Aceves (bap. 2/May/1824) is the son of Jesus Aceves and María Antonia Hermosillo ( daughter of Ysidro Hermosillo and Josefa Martin.) (Josefa Martin is the daughter of Francisco Martin del Campo and Maria Teresa Valencia)

5) Jesus Aceves is the son of Francisco Xavier Aceves and Josefa (Ma.de SanJose)Barajas.

6) Francisco Xabier Aceves married to Josefa (Ma.de SanJose) Barajas

============

José Thoribio Aceves’s maternal grandmother, Josefa Martin, is also related to me.

Josefa is the daughter of Francisco Martin del Campo and María Teresa Valencia.

Francisco Martin del Campo is the son of Estefania Martin del Campo and an unknown father

Your ancestor María Teresa Valencia has a sister, Maria Rita Valencia, who is my ancestor.

Maria Rita Valencia is married to Joseph Domingo Estrada. (My ancestors)

Maria Teresa Valencia and Maria Rita Valencia are the daughters of Lorenzo Valencia and Juana Gertrudis Maldonado (aka Gonzalez) (daughter of Antonio Gonzalez and Petronila 'Petra' Gutierrez-Maldonado

Lorenzo Valencia and Juana Gertrudis 'Petra' Maldonado are married in Ocotlan, Jalisco on 10/Dec/1736

Good Morning Cousin,

That is awesome news!Everything that you have given me here I have passed on to my sisters and they are just as fascinated as I am.
And if you can email me that info, I would greatly appreciate it.
Do you need my email address?

Hi Nancy,

The more that I look at your ancestors, the more ancestors we have in common, so we are indeed cousins. I previously wrote that Francisco Martin del Campo was the son of an unknown father and María Estephania Martin del Campo. The father is no longer unknown. I discovered that his father’s surname is Medina. I don’t know Francisco’s father’s first name.

You also descend from Toribio Hernández Arellano and Isabel Mendoza. For more information of his ancestry, take a look at what I posted on the “probable ancestry of Toribio Hernández Arellano”.This ancestry adds to your French and Basque ancestry that you were curious about.

Yes, I need your email address to send you more information and a picture of your great aunt María Nicolasa Aceves Lomelin.

Thanks,

Dear Nancy,

I took a look at the tree you have on file. Then I looked up the source on Aniceta Barba’s mother, María Guadalupe Camarena . There Is faulty information in the record even though it is a primary source. Primary sources sometimes contain mistakes. María Guadalupe Camarena’s father is not named Abundio Camarena. I did more investigating and found her baptismal record which provides the correct parents.

1) María Guadalupe Camarena (bap. 16/Oct/1861 in Arandas, Jalisco) is the daughter of Abundio Vasquez and María Ladislao Camarena

2) Abundio Vasquez is the son of Juan Nepomuceno Vasquez y Yniguez and María Prudencia Plasencia y Aramburo.

3) Juan Nepomuceno Vasquez (bap. 3/July/1804, Atotonilco, Jalisco) is the son of José Leon Vasquez and María De Jesus Yniguez

4) Joséph Leon Vasquez(bap 19/Apr/1750, Ayotlan, Jalisco) is the son of Ramon Vasquez and María Magdalena Perez

5) Ramon Vasquez and María Magdalena Perez

==========================================================

María Ladislao Camarena (bap. 5/July/1840, Arandas ) is the daughter of Ygnacio Camarena and María de los Dolores Canchola

Ygnacio Camarena is the son of Francisco Camarena and Maria Guadalupe Mendez

==============================================================

María Dolores Canchola is the daughter of Francisco Canchola and María Gertrudis Margarita Fuentes

Francisco Canchola is the son of Jose Felipe Canchola and Ana María Rodriguez

==============================================================

María Margarita Fuentes is the daughter of Bernardino Fuentes and Mariana

=============================================**===========

María de Jesús Yniguez is the daughter of Pedro Yniguez and María Nicolasa Romero

====================================================/======

María Prudencia Plasencia is the daughter of José Florencio “Felis” Plasencia and María Aramburo (Arambula)

==========================================================================

There are other mistakes in your file. My book, Mygenes2000, is not published yet, but you could correct many of those mistakes by looking at postings here in nuestrosranchos.org. My posting on “Christobal Villaseñor” is an example of a posting that you can gather much information from for your family tree : http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/23624?page=2

In the study of genealogy i have often found instances where the person takes the surname of the mother instead of the father. Sometimes you will find instances where they take the surname of a grandparent, or greatgrandparent, instead of a parent. This happened often in the sixteenth and seventeenth hundreds in Nueva Galicia.

I forgot to add that José Feliciano “Felis” or “Felix” Plasencia” had “José Feliciano. Plasencia Alias Fierro” in a record.

José Feliciano Plasencia Alias Fierro is the son of Francisco Plasencia and Madalena Fierro

María Maxima Arambula (bap 8/July/1792) is the daughter of Juan José González de Arambula and María Petra Lucia Lopez De Elizalde

José Feliciano Plasencia Alias Fierro and María Maxima Arambula were married 9/Nov/1809 in Tepatitlan. Jalisco

Another ancestor of yours who also used multiple surnames is María Quiteriia Orosco (aka Losa, aka Ramirez). Quiteria was married to Bernardo Regalado.

Thank you,
Rick A. Ricci
