Don't you live in Mexico on or very near the Gulf of Mexico on the Texas
border? Will you have to evacuate? Hope you and your vast library are out of harm's way. I have a cousin in League City (between Galveston and Houston) that has evacuated to either Huntsville, Tx or Nacogdoches, TX. Joseph, I think your question on scholarly research is excellent! I would love to see a simple directory with that type of information. By the way, along these lines, I have an acquaintance (via Internet only) in Jaliso who is both a genealogist and is involved in scholarly research. He is a historian in Encarnacion de Diaz, Jalisco, and is very knowledgeable on area history in general. I haven't written to him in AGES (perhaps he's not very happy with me for not writing!) You may have already spoken with him, but just in case, I'll forward his contact information. His name is Rodolfo Humberto Hernandez and he can be found at: rodolfohdzch@... . I would venture to say Mr. Ryskamp would comment that notarial records are some of the most valuable yet underused resources. I'm "tracking" my Gutierrez family in Jalisco and found they come from Chilchota Michoacan, late 1775's, where there are many Alvares del Castillo families who immigrate to Jalisco along with Morfin, Valencia and my Gutierrez. Hey, Joseph, I think I know now what was wrong on my new computer before. It seems there are a lot of things in it that are hiding, such as Windows Media Player 10. When I clicked on the MP3 listed on your last message about maps, a window popped up saying Welcome to Windows Media Player 10 and it led me to other pop ups to configure it. Before, when I tried to view videos, nothing would happen. I was then able to download that map of Jalisco you had sent earlier, and I saved it somewhere. I tried to print it, but nothing happened. Well, I had left-clicked on the blue url and all I got was that message
about it being added to the download list, so I will next try the more complicated way of right clicking on the url and saving it to my computer. I don't know where I will save it to, but I will give it a try. I had messed up my old computer so much that they had to reinstall drivers etc. I am dangerous around these things. I ought to get a job as quality control person to test the user-friendliness of computers, because if anyone can break them, I sure can. Thanks,
