Family Search Indexing

Have you heard about this? Family Search is allowing indexers to choose projects. I've often wondered about that as I looked through each image, I thought that it would be so easy and a good use of my time to index as I search. Can you imagine what we can do for the Los Altos area? I'm excited for this. http://news.legacyfamilytree.com/legacy_news/2016/03/new-familysearch-p…

Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico 1592

I was looking in the PARS website on Capitan Miguel Caldera and I came a page where at the top of the page around line 7 it talks about the Chichimecas in Mezquitic.

At the bottom of the page it mentions "Valparayso (Valparaiso)" which is in Zacatecas. Along with Tlatenango, San Andres.

The year is 1592 which is the earliest reference of the existence of Valparaiso.

Bautismos de Tepetongo 1861 Missing

Hi all,

I found my great-grandfather's civil birth, so now I'm looking for his baptismal certificate, slogging through the images. However, where 1861 should be (1859-1869), there's no 1861. I've skimmed through the whole file, and I don't see 1861 anywhere.

Also, there's an index for 1862, but the numbers next to names don't seem to match the entries. I wanted to look at Sanchez Celia (169), Cani (?) (235) and Sacramento (548), but can't finf anything. Very frustrating. Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Laura

Rosa Maria de Fonseca parents

Hello forum,

Rosa Maria de Fonseca married Juan Garcia de Miranda (Felipe Vasquez de Lara's grandson) in Santa Maria de los Lagos on June 30 1693. She died on June 02 1702 in the birth of their son Felipe.

Juan tried to get married again on 1710. In the information he presented he stated he was the widow of Rosa Maria de "Ysas" (Isassi).

There was a married couple: Domingo de Fonseca and Felipa de Isassi whose children were born in the same time frame Rosa Maria was born. One of them: Blas, married Leonor Gutierrez de Hermosillo in Tepatitlan on June 02 1704. Leonor was granddaughter of Pedro Gutierrez de Hermosillo, natural son of Juan Gonzalez de Hermosillo.

The clues point Rosa Maria was the daughter of Domingo and Felipa. If so, the same Fonseca's were nearly related to Garcia de Miranda and Gutierrez de Hermosillo lineages.

Does anybody has information confirming it, or information about who her parents were?

Last year I tried to go to Pinos to look at the records but too many cousins
to visit in San Luis Potosi. So glad you made it to Pinos and are generously
sharing your hardwork. I wish I had known you 1996, I went many times to San
Luis during this time period, and I could have learned from a master!! Oops,
with your records, I am! Thanks.

Searching for information on Antonio Pantaleon or Don Antonio Gil Gutierrez

Hi everyone.

Looking for help in finding records on:
(1) Antonio Pantaleon &
(2) Don Antonio Gil Gutierrez (Antonio's owner and possible father).

I believe my ancestor that "started" the Gutierrez family is: Antonio Pantaleon, a slave of Don Antonio Gil Gutierrez and son of Maria Antonia (last name is not mentioned), also a slave. Antonio Panteleon's father is listed as "unknown."
(Fascinating)!

In this recorded:

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-XY1Y-5?i=133&wc=3J45-3TL%3…

Antonio Pantaleon is mentioned as marrying Anna Maria Placenia, daughter of Jossefa Ruiz and her father's name I can't make out on February 26, 1772

I believe Antonio Pantaleon changes his last name to Gutierrez because other records show his children with the Gutierrez surname. In this following recorded, their son Jose Maria Norato Gutierres Placiencia, christened 17 Feb 1787 at SAN MIGUEL EL ALTO,JALISCO,MEXICO reflects that change as follows:

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NBJP-JP5
Indexing Project (Batch) Number: C60329-1
System Origin: Mexico-ODM
GS Film number: 279422

BACKGROUND STORY:

Antonio and Anna Maria are the parents of Jose Maria Norato Gutierrez

Jose Maria Norato Gutierrez and Maria Caludia Gamez are the parents of Julian Gutierrez

Julian Gutierrez and Sabina Gutierrez are the parents of Jose Albino Gutierrez

Jose Albino Gutierrez and Amada Guerrero are the parents of Jose Genovevo Gutierrez, my grandfather born January 3, 1884 in Jalostotitlan, Jalisco, Mexico per this record:

Any help in Spanish or English would be greatly appreciated.

Lopez de la Serda

Hi Everyone,
Lopez de la Cerda came up in a previous email and I want to ask if anyone
in the NR forum has any information on the grandparents of Phelipe Lopez De
La Serda Marin , who married Juan Perez de Frias Flores on May 29 1749
(vecinos de Rio Chico, Teocaltiche). I have Phelipe's parents listed as
Matheo Lopez de la Serda and Jacinta Marin.

Does anyone have information on Matheo and Jacinta's lineage?

Thanks and I look forward to your response.

Member Introduction - Flores Jimenez, Azeves Velasco, Ramirez Oliden, Vizcarra Curiel

Hello, My name is Minerva. Thank you so much for allowing me to be part of this group- I am a new researcher since only last year I started my investigation into my father’s ancestry from Los Altos de Jalisco.

A sample of my father’s genealogical line has been saved in this folder: http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/mflores - I am expecting to add additional information to this folder soon.

**********************************************
I am researching the individuals below at the moment and would greatly appreciate any information you might have about them:

1) Plutarco Flores Jimenez (or Flores Aceves?) from Coyotes, Zapotlanejo, Jalisco, who was married to Petra Davalos Guzman (bef 1815- bef 1877) from Encinos, Zapotlanejo, Jalisco. They both lived in Corralillo, Zapotlanejo, Jalisco at some point as well.

I estimate Plutarco was born before 1814 and died in 1876. I have found some sources that list Plutarco's father as Guadalupe Flores and other sources as Valentin Flores. His mother is referenced as Dionicia Jimenez or sometimes Dionicia Aceves. I am kind of stuck at Plucarco.

I am not sure if this helps, but Plutarco is the second-grandfather of Coronel Gabino Flores Torres who fought during the Cristero war. Here is a link to information about Gabino: http://guardianacionalcristera.com/cabalgata-cristera-coronel-gabino-fl…

2) Sebastian de Azeves married to Maria de Velasco from Ayo el chico, Ayotlan, Jalisco. Sebastian and Maria are parents of Francisco Xavier Aceves, who married Maria Guadalupe Valdivia in Ayo el Chico on June 02, 1755.

3) Antonio Joseph Ramirez married to Maria Petra Oliden. Antonio and Maria are parents of Ignacio Julian Ramirez Oliden born on March 16, 1773 in Coyotes, Zapotlanejo, Jalisco.

4) Josepha Polonia Curiel married to Fernando Vizcarra in 1766 in Tonala, Jalisco. I believe her parents were German Curiel and Rita Gutierres they were all from Rancho del Populo, Tonala, but I am not 100% sure yet.

Any information about the ancestors of any of these people is much appreciated.

Looking forward to reading much more of the vast information the group has provided on the website (I have a lot of catching up to do), and hopefully there might be something I can help you guys with as well.

Best Regards,
Minerva

Margarita Ramirez or Sosa

Hello Nuestro Ranchos Forum,

I read an old post about Margarita Ramirez that marries Francisco Tiscareno in Februry 25 1690 in Aguascalientes . It said she was also known as Margarita de Sosa and That her mother was also margarita de sosa. But then someone on the post said they didn't know margarita Sosa and made it seem like it wasn't true. Does anyone know this person. Here she is:

Pasiano Amaya Nieto

I had been searching for Jacinto Paisano LKDX-GCH on familysearch.org (4th greatgrandfather) married to Maria Carmen Amaya.

I came across an IM for Joseph Jacintho Payzano married to Maria del Carmel Nieto. They had the time period correct, names basically the same, and place of birth in San Luis Potosi.

Maria del Carmel Nieto parents are Nicolas Gregorio Nieto and Maria Rosalia Amaya Roxas.
Does anyone have any info on them to confirm or disprove my theory that they are the same?

One other note, the whole family has had their names corrupted (escovedo changed to Escobar) or reversed (ventura paisano became ventura escareno and her husband Rafael Escareno became Rafael Paisano), and children of michaela Rodriguez and Tiscareno have children passed her birth but they have their names listed as parents.

Thanks, Sarod77

Finding a Roll Number vs Film Number

Hello friends,

How do I find a specific "Rollo" on FamilySearch. I know how to search under "film number," but someone documented a source using the Roll number and not the film number and I am trying to follow their research back.

My source says the document was at the Archivo del Arzobizpado de Guadalajara, Roll 2989, 1611-1699 and that it is a Capellania. So, I went to the films under those dates at https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-DG9H-6F?owc=3JW2-3TG%3A171…
but lo an behold there is no such roll number, the Capellania that is 1611-1699 is Roll#2986, and the one that is 1611-1854 is roll #2990, both of which are REALLY close, but are not the right number, which again is #2989.

I also looked at the Indexes that Kati Brecht has kindly put together, but I am not finding it. Maybe it has not been digitized?

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Sergio

"Abuelos incognitos"?

I recently ran across a church baptismal record on familysearch.org that stated "abuelos incognitos". This doesn't seem to me that the grandparents were unknown but for some reason are unlisted.
Has anyone run across this before? Why would the grandparents not be named? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any insight.

Epifanio Mercado

I am in search of a photo of my great grandfather Epifanio Mercado son of Ricardo Mercado and Silvestra Vargas date of baptism, April (21 maybe) 1871, born in Rancho Virgenes, Monte Escobedo, Zacatecas died on June 29, 1943 in Monte Escobedo, Zacatecas.

He was married to my great grandma Catalina Robles on March 4th, 1925.

His first marriage was to Casimira Vargas of which they had 6 children: Jose Francisco Mercado, Aurelia Mercado, Maria Soledad Mercado, Maria Concepcion Mercado, Gilberto Mercado and Ediberta Mercado. Most likely a picture could be found by his descendants from his first marriage or from close living relatives of Epifanio.

Thank you for your help in tracking down a photo or more information regarding our family lineage.
