new to site--Legazpi,Zerega, Cota, Arce

There is a group of Legazpi in Nochistlan, Zacatecas born in the mid-
1840s. Unfortunately (and for good reason) familysearch.org does not
list records after 1900 so your grandparents may not be back far
enough to start. If you could find the name of your great-
grandparents that would be the best place to start.

Hello, my name is Melania, I was born in Ensenada BC Mx, but have
lived in the states since I was 9. I am researching my grandparents,
my grandma was Paula Zerega and Granfather was Francisco Legaspy. They
are both from the San Telmo area Baja Calif, but I have learned
through some research that the names have come from the zacatecas,
jalisco area/ specially Legazpi (legaspy or legaspi)
My grandmas parents were francisco Zerega and Francisca Arze
(arce). my grandfathers were francisco Legazpi and Amada Cota.

OK, I think your name is Joanna and if it's not I'm sure you will let us know. You start the way we all have started, asking many questions. You have to ask not only your mother but any aunts and uncles about a little family history. Where your ancestors have lived, names of relatives but especially grandparents and great grandparents if possible. Many times birth certificates list the grandparents so if you have any birth certificates for parents or grandparents you can begin there to get names, surnames and localities.

Once you have some names, dates and places you log onto www.familysearch.org. When this comes up click on the search tab located at the top of the page. Next you will see a form that asks for first name and last name. Fill in the names you know. In the slot below look in the drop down menu that says country and search for Mexico and click on it. You can enter as much or as little information of your choosing and if the database finds a name that's similar to your

Sorry, I cannot help you.

Also, thank you for the invitation to visit your
