Hello,
I have a lookup request for anyone who has Luz Montejano Hilton's book of marriage dispensations.
I want to know if Juan Ygnacio Martin del Campo m. Sebastiana Apolonia Sanchez de Porras on 25 Feb 1754 in San Felipe, Cuquio, Jalisco received a marriage dispensation?
I just wanted to express to the whole group what a great time I had in Salt Lake City this past weekend. More than the conference itself, getting to meet Mickey, Josie, Lydia and Ulla and getting to see Kitty and Rich again made the trip a great experience.
Hello
Ref to Sanchez-Porras.....I did not find this in the book of Luz's.
I do not think I missed it...it just did not come up....hope someone else
will double check..
Mickey
Tomas Alejandro,
Arturo,
Is Saucedo, a spelling variation for Salsedo/Salcedo/Salzedo?
I would be interested in reading what you have on the names that the
"indigenous," individuals used, absent of a surname...
On one of the lines that I am researching I have come across a Maria De La

An oficialia is an office as in oficialia #1, #2 , #3, etc of the
Registro Civil.
Some cities have many, others a couple. It all depends on the number of

Arturo,
You've been explaining the various government entities in Mexico: In the excerpt from the FHC Library Catalog (below) of films available for Valparaiso, Zacatecas, I see OFICIALIA designated for some of the nearby communities. What is meant by "oficialia"?

On my mother's side I am the fourth generation to use the maternal suname.
Because my great grandfather was the product of rape.
Since 1858 our family has been proud to bear the name of the 14 year-old victim of that rape, Maria de las Nieves Porras.
Thanks so much for the information, Arturo. This affirms the need to search maternal names just as carefully. I believ I've read that it wasn't unheard of for a husband to take his wife's maiden surname, if she was the sole heir to land or fortune. Alice Blake

Hello Rose, Very interesting. I was wondering if these were working haciendas/ranchos in 1839, or pueblitos named for the former haciendas; and if the founders or owners were named. Thanks, Alice Blake
I have just upload a list of Haciendas and Ranchos from the 1839 Church Census of Asientos, Aguascalientes. There are some names that were hard to make out so I put question marks after the name.
