I have a civil records entry from Calvillo, Ags. Deaths 1935 lists Felicana Serna as the child of Juan Serna and Petra ( no name given) and widow of Donato Gutierrez. under the civil Records 1935 image no 343 of 568. Page no 59. I would like some verification of this marriage or the Family history of Feliciana Serna. any info on a donato Gutierrez would be appreciated.

My name is Mercedes Gomez Villalobos and I am happy to be a new member to Nuestros Ranchos. I'm still learning how to navigate this website. I'm posting as much info as I've managed to research in the last 3 years. I need help if anyone out there knows about these wonderfully mysterious distant relatives. I often wonder where my family came from and from what countries we originated. I understand we have French and Spanish and Indigenous blood. My parents had 12 children we're all alive, including my 105 year old mother. Her mind is sharp and she has wonderful stories to tell us. My father had blue eyes and blond hair, my mother had brown eyes, hair. We're all different from very light hair and skin to medium olive skin and brown eyes.
My father Antonio Gomez Gonzalez b.1899 and mother Virginia Villalobos Aguilera B.1905 both in Canadas, Jalisco. My paternal grandparents: Francisco Gomez Martinez b.1869 , his parents: Nicolas Gomez and Gregoria Martinez. They had some children born in El Sagrario, Aguascalientes, Irapuato, Guanajuato and Encarnacion de Diaz. . Joaquina Gonzalez Jimenez b. 1874, her parents: Jose Maria Gonzalez and Simona Jimenez. I believe they came from a military family because there's a photo of Francisco's son Jesus Gomez Martinez with a military uniform. I believe he might have served under Porfirio Diaz. We don't know what happened to him. He was 15 when he left Encarnacion to serve in the military.
My maternal grandparents: Florencio Villalobos Aguilera b.1873 in San Sebastian Del Alamo, his parents were Ysidro Villalobos Lopez b.1834 and Jacoba Aguilera Garcia b.1838 m.1857, Teocaltiche
Maria Leonides Aguilera Diaz b.1871, Rio Chico, her parents: Justo Aguilera Quezada B. 1831, his parents: Anastacio Aguilera and Rita Quezada . Macsima Diaz Villalobos b. 1841, her parents: Jose Rafael Diaz and Justa Villalobos Carrano b. 1809. Justa's parents: Juan Jose Villalobos and Petra Carrano. Juan Jose was Fernando Villalobos and Maria Lozano's son.
I hope this introduction will stir some interest in those who might have the same distant relatives.

The Nueva Galicia Genealogical Society, which focuses on genealogical interests from the Nueva Galicia area of colonial Mexico, is pleased to announce the 2nd annual Nueva Galicia Genealogical Society Conference, which will be held in Rancho Cucamonga, California (about 45 miles east of Los Angeles) on April 30, 2011. The conference will feature keynote speaker Dr. Eric Van Young, Professor of History at University of California at San Diego, whose lecture will discuss the colonial history of Guadalajara and major land-owning families. Also speaking is Arturo Ramos, moderator of Nuestros Ranchos, a Mexican genealogical website, whose lectures will focus on researching the Archivo General in Mexico City and PARES, an online Spanish archive. Others will be presenting as well.

I must apolgize, that was my first post. I believe the family originated around the hacienda of San Jose de Llanetes. There are two other haciendas close by, San Jose de Sauceda, later known as Sauceda, and San Mateo, Zacatecas. These haciendas are located between Fresnillo and Valparaiso, Zacatecas.

Se trata de Bernardino de Estrada Bocanegra y María de Valderrama, padres de mi ancestro Domingo Estrada Bocanegra. Los únicos datos que tengo de esta familia es un hijo de Bernardino y María bautizado en Lagos en 19 de junio de 1661, llamado José. En dicho registro Bernardino aparece como de Estrada y Nava.
En un principio pensé que se trataba del mismo Bernardino de Estrada Bocanegra casado en Lagos el 28 de febrero de 1649 con Mariana Gómez de Portugal. Éste Bernardino es hijo de Andrés de Estrada Bocanegra y Luisa Flores Rubín.
Entonces no podría ser creo yo el mismo Bernardino porque de donde le viene lo de Estrada y Nava.
Agradecería cualquier ayuda.

Can anyone confirm whether Agapito De Aguayo married to Narciza De Loza, 21 May 1827 is the son of Candido De Aguayo and Maria Luisa de San Ygnacio Gomez De Mendoza (daughter of Ygnacio Gomez De Mendoza and Maria Antonia Valadez) born on 27 June 1792? Also, does anyone have any additional information on the parents of Narciza (Luis De Loza and Josefa Gamez)?

they should have married ca. 1775 in Tepatitlan de Morelos, Jalisco, I know Ignacio was from
Jalostotitlan according to some baptisms. They had 9 kids that I have documented. Margarita,
Jose Antonio, Maria de Jesus. Felipa de la Cruz, Maria Josepha, Maria Anastasia Basilia, Maria
Secundina Rita, Maria Rafaela Crisanta Gomez de Mendoza. All baptized between 1776-1796
in Tepatitlan. Most married in Jalostotitlan and some in Tepatitlan.

There was a stigma in being illegitimate. Due to the groom's parents being unknown & the groom most likely being illegitimate, the bans had to be posted where he was born, raised, etc., --Teocaltiche. Via the bans being posted by the priest of Teocaltiche, the chances of the couple being related could thus be eliminated by its residents who might know something & come forward. It's possible that the Teocaltiche priest might have investigated and found that the couple was not related, and all was well to marry in Aguascalientes where the marriage had possibly taken place because the bride was from there. Marriages usually took place in the bride's hometown. There might even be something more in the Investigaciones Matrimoniales or no one came forward, so there was no reason to prevent the couple from marrying...

That is does anyone know where to find a list of alcade's, jefe's politico's and other civic leaders prior to the Mexican Revolution? As it seems many municipalities started keeping track of their municipal president's or alcalde's after the revolution.
Specifically I am looking for this information from locations within Zacatecas but I think we could all benefit from having these lists available in all the states we are researching.
Up to now the purest according to dna were the irish. They did not mix with other cultures the way the iberians did. I say up to now but I mean yesterday. The latest dna findings show that many many african tribes completely intermarried within the group and there is where you find the "purest" groups.
The iberian peninsula was the original melting pot of the first 1000 years ad. Before that I would have to do more research. The last 500 years obviously the americas have been the melting pot.

With respect to your comment that the Irish came from Northern Spain, I am not sure that I agree. The Celts settled both Northern Spain and the British Isles, but I am not sure there is good data that the sequence was Northern Spain then Ireland. For example, the myth that the Black Irish are Spaniards that were shipwreck victims from the defeated Spanish Armada is complete fantasy, given my historical sources.
Furthermore, the Felgueres/Villegas family in Huejuquilla el Alto also derive from the de los Santos Coy family via Saltillo. The latter Santos Coy family, along with the de la Garza Falcon family and others, were from Lepe, Huelva, Spain. Arguably, these families were conversos (ex-Jews). See the book "Conquistadores and Crypto-Jews of Monterrey" by David T. Raphael. I admit that Raphael lacks solid data.
In my historical and DNA reviews, there is nothing "pure" in any family of Mexico, especially our area of investigation. In my mind, Spain itself was the largest admixture of genes in Europe from 1000 BCE to 1492 ACE: Celt-Iberians, Phoenicians, Romans, Jews, Visigoths (Germans), Berbers, Arabs, and others.

Shuffle the deck once more (plus NAI) = Mejicanos.

La pregunta de la que quisiera su respuesta es: Ya que usted ha publicado en el libro "Crónica de una familia entre dos mundos" contenido acerca de la casa de Lara en Mexico, ¿conoce usted relacion alguna de Elvira Gil de Lara, hija natural de Juan Cermeño, con La Casa de Lara?
Juan Cermeño era natural de la Villa de Palos, hijo de Rodrigo de Costa(¿Acaso de la portuguesa casa DaCosta?) Estuvo casado con una hija de Juan Ruiz llamada Ana Martin (Quien ademas utilizo por apellidos: Martinez, Olvera y Carbajal), mas con ella no procreó descendientes, sin embargo al morir dejo ademas de su viuda de 30 años de edad (quien luego caso con Diego Perez de Zamora,uno de los 11 hijos de Alonso Perez de Zamora) a 2 hijas ilegitimas , una de ellas fue criada en su casa y le impuso el nombre de "Elvira Gil de Lara".quien casó con Juan Vazquez Perea, y despues de enviudar con Juan Sanchez (¿de Figueroa?).
De esta Elvira descienden varias familias alteñas: Vazquez de Zermeño, Garcia de Miranda, Vazquez de Lara, Garcia de Lara, Sanchez de Lara->Sanchez de Mendoza.

Hola busco datos sobre esta Petrona Gonzalez Macias casada con
JOseph de Lozano el 23 de febrero de 1666 en Aguascalientes. Pudo
encontrar los padres de Joseph quienes son Cristobal de Lozano y
Mariana Gonzalez de Ruvalcaba (Gonzalez Bermejo, mi cuarta linea de Bermejo).
Pero esta PEtrona se me escapa. Aveces parece aveces
parece como Petrona de Retamosa, Petra Macias, Petrna Gonzalez o
en su matrimonio Gonzalez Retamosa. Ya he notado los apellidos
que deben comprobar esta, Gonzalez, Vasquez Retamosa, Macias Valadez.
Es posible que una abuela suya es Retamosa.
