Chihuahua Batch Numbers in Films Database

I have uploaded batch numbers for Chihuahua in the Films database.

Please give it a test run and let me know (via personal note) if there are any errors that you find or go ahead and edit the relevant record yourself.

Also, if you happen to have any Chihuahua films on indefinite loan at your local family history center, please indicate as much by clicking "Edit" next to the relevant film and then "I have this film" at the bottom of the form.

My Introduction - Sanchez Family

Hello Everyone,

My name is Jesus Sanchez and this is my first post to the Nuestros Ranchos website.  I have been concentrating my research to my paternal Sanchez side of the family for several years and have hit the wall at my GGG Grandparents Justo Sanchez and Perfecta Gonzalez.  The only record of them is that they are listed as the grandparents of Jose Nabor Sanchez, born in 1825.  I've listed the first two generations of my tree.  I did find a record of my GG Grandparents wedding date but have yet to order the film for this record.  Does anyone know how to request an actual copy of the marriage certificate from the church or city?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Jesus

does anyone know "how to" download gedcom records?

I was wondering if anyone knows and can help me in "how to" download gedcom records to my computer.

Whenever I'm in a Nuestros Ranchos gedcom records film file, on the upper right hand side of the page it says: "prepare selected records for download". I've been able to "prepare" them and when I click on download, it goes through the motion of download BUT it never does. The download never shows up on my computer. I have Windows 7. I've tried to "create" a file for the gedcoms but that doesn't work either.

A few years ago, when I had Windows XP, I managed to download some of those gedcom records in the "favorites" section but that wasn't beneficial for my intended use. Now I can't even do that anymore.

I'd like to do that so that I can study ONLY the gedcom records I'd like to. i.e. create a folder of only one surname for easy research study.

I'm kinda computer savvy but I'm not a "whiz".

Thanks for any help that anyone can give me!

New member Intro

Hello everyone, my name is Lisa and I started my research about 3 years ago. I am researching Melendres and Covarrubias from Tlalttenango and Atolinga Zac. My GGrandfather is Genaro Melendres b. 1877 in Rancho Grande and GGrandmother is Raphaela Covarrubias b.abt 1890. They traveled to New Mexico and had my grandfather Gregorio, his brother Ramon and sister Maria. They continued on to San Jose, Az in 1932 where they lived out there life. I have not found anything on Rahpaela regarding baptismal records and such, but do know her parents are Doroteo Covarrubias and Estefana Herrera. Other surnames are Gomes, Escovedo, Montero, Correa, Perez, Magallanes and the list is getting longer. I would like to know anything about them or their life if anyone knows of stories, or possibly a relative. Very anxious and excited to see where this line leaves me at. Would greatly appreciate any help.

Many thanks,

Lisa

different name meaning the same?

to the group:

In my research I am confused about my gmother's name. In her Bap. it reads Teodora. In her church record it reads Maria Dolores. In different bap. records of her gkids it either or, Is Teodora the same as Maria Dolores is my question? Also there is mention about the 117 families sent to los Altos to colonize the area, in the forum posting recently, can one tell me where I could buy books or articles on the subject.

Also what about misspelled names on Familysearch.org, how to correct. Appreciate any info.

Update Correction - Jose Fernando Perez' Spouse

Attn: Deena Ortiz and Charles Clark

Deena and Charles,

I finally have located information on Andrea Andrade Perez. Though Andrea was noted on the 1920 & 1930 Fed Census as being Fernando's spouse, I was lead to believe that Andrea was the nickname for Hilaria... and that Maria Hilaria was Fernando's wife. That is the information that I shared with you both. Hilaria is actually Andrea'a sister.

On Andrea's death certificate that I recently obtained from Westwood CA, she is listed as the spouse of Fernando Perez. I have updated this new found information to my GEDCOM file for Maria Andrea Andrade.

Sorry for the confusion that this error may have caused.

Thank you both for all your help...

Updated Enriquez-Romo & Gutierrez-Gutierrez ancestry

Hello primos y primas,

A special thanks to so many of you who have guided me over the past year! It's because of you that I have been able to see my family tree bloom! I recently obtained my mtDNA results and have discovered my maternal ancestors are Haplogroup H1. I've updated my paternal and maternal ancestry with a focus on my maternal line. This is all so very exciting! Now, I'm looking for my gggggggreat grandmother's parents. My maternal line is at a roadblock with Isabel (Ysabel)de Calderon Orozco who married Diego Delgadillo. Do you have the key to unlock the mystery? Thank you very much!

Hola primos y Primas,

Muchas gracias!

Alfonsa/Aldonca de Villasenor y Davalos

This is in reply to Daniel Mendez del Camino's post:

I have an Alfonsa Villasenor y Davalos married to Juan Dosal de Lamadrid, Teniente General de la Sierra de Tepeji y Sombrete, Alcalde Mayor de Charcas. Her parents were Diego Lopes de Saavedra and Francisca Fernandez de Hijar- through her materal line she descends from the Conquistador, Juan Fernandez de Hijar. The Fernandez de Hijar family are descendientes varonia del Rey don Jaime de Aragon. Through her paternal line she descends from Isabel de Alvarado, niece of Adelandado Pedro de Alvarado, also a Conquistador. Could this be the same person married a first or second time?

kind regards,

Oviedo surname in Teúl de González Ortega, Zac. (And links to Campos, Robles, Munos, Vasquez, Correa, Arellano, etc.)

Hello! Over the last year I have been searching for ancestors from my many lines that go into the 1700's... I recently found an ancestor with the surname 'Oviedo' (written "Obiedo" in the IGI many times over; However, I will write it with a 'v')... I've been looking around, but there doesn't seem to be many 'Oviedo' lines in other researchers surname lists... Has anyone heard of this surname, or possibly stumbled upon it in your family research? It's odd to me that it has been in the area for a long time, as many others have, yet it isn't absolutely everywhere!

My last known ancestor (as of yet!) with this surname was Francisco Xavier De Oviedo, who was married to Maria Rosalia De Campos (most likely in the 1760s) in Teúl de González Ortega, Zacatecas. Their daughter, Maria Eusebia De Oviedo married Joaquin De Robles (parents: Juan Maria De Robles & Maria Josefa Gutierres) and had, among other children, Jose Ciriaco Robles Oviedo (b. 17 Jun 1809 in Teúl de González Ortega).

Jose Ciriaco in turn married Desideria Munos and had Maria de la Cruz Robles (and other children mostly circa 1830s)... which brings me down to a more "touchable" generation (Still about 150 years away, haha!): This all comes through my paternal grandmother's paternal grandmother, Nicolaza Vasquez y Robles (Maria de la Cruz's daughter) who married Ramon Correa y Arellano. All of their children (including my grandmother's father, Leopoldo Correa y Vasquez, b.1898) were born at Rancho Los Robles, which I believe is in the outskirts of the town of Huitzila in Teúl de González Ortega (where my grandmother María de Jesús Correa Uribe was born circa 1925 - But I still cannot find her birth record!).

I apologize for the information overload and many run-on sentences! I know my main question is about my Oviedo ancestors, but I thought I'd kill a couple birds with one stone. Maybe someone will see something that catches their eye... Thank You!
