Hoy probé la identidad de los padres de doña Jacinta de Ortega, fallecida el 19 de julio en 1676 en Aguascalientes casada con Francisco Macías Valadez, fallecido el 19 de septiembre de 1658 en Aguascalientes casados hacia 1624 en Lagos, patriarchas de la familia Valadez-Ortega en Aguascalientes y Teocaltiche.
Aunque no muestra los padres de Jacinta en su defunción, ni hemos encontrado partida matrimonial el partido de su hermano lo dice.
Esto se incluyará en mi libro que ya viene para la próxima primavera, Archivos parroquiales de Aguascalientes: Siglo XVII

He revisado este partido varias veces y es la primer vez que noté que dice, “su hermana”.
Conozco otros genealogistas con el mismo caso, con sorpresa podemos probar la identidad de los padres de Jacinta de Ortega.
Jacinta era hermana de Alonso Pérez de Ortega, segundo de su nombre. Todavía no sé la identidad de la madre. Algunos genealogistas han dicho que Jacinta era hija de María Núñez de Vélez, pero desconozcan la identidad de los padres. Alonso Pérez de Ortega, primer de su nombre y vecino de Lagos era casado con María de Xérez donde bautizaron al dicho Alonso Pérez de Ortega, hermano de la Jacinta el 15 de enero de 1617 en Lagos caso el 15 de febrero de 1636 en Aguascalientes con Felipa de Anso y Téllez-Rivera. Por lo menos tuvieron otra hija Alonso y María de Xérez quién es mi antepasado Juana Pérez de Ortega casada con Hernando Galván de Roxas el 21 de abril de 1653 en León.

I have a couple of questions? I am familiar with the Conde of Hacienda San Mateo in Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico back in the days of 1700's.
What was his purpose in regards to administration? Where there any Condes in Alta California at that time?
Now also I would like to know what are Cofradias?
Because in our village of Huejuquilla El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico there is a Cofradia which is now a ranch. When I browsed through archives of Huejuquilla, Jalisco, Mexico in the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints History Center, I browsed through a roll of microfilm for the year 1608 of the Cofradia of Huejuquilla.
In the Microfilm, I saw daily journals written by the Mayordomo Lazaro Medina during that time and also saw inventory lists from that time period which included items such as:
Corona De Plata
Vino
Velas De Barro
Pollos por los enfermos
Caldo de Chocolate
In that inventory list was a list of items with the cost for each and the monetary terms used were "Pesetas" "Tomines"
The Cofradia in the archives was titled as "La Cofradia De La Hermanidad."
And I read and read the journals written by the Mayordomo Lazaro Medina.
Very interesting, because he would describe, "Capitan Mayor," "Capitan Menor" and Capitanas and the names of the people with that title. But Capitanas? Women captains at that time?
He also described visits to the Cofradia by "El Dueno De Los Minas De Fresnillo."
And also he also mentioned visiting "Balparaiso" (Valparaiso).
That archive was interesting to read because of the year 1608. I had trouble understanding terminology, old spanish words and the writing was kind of hard to decipher.
But if any of you are research Huejuquilla, Jalisco, Mexico. Try looking up "Cofradia" You will find it listed in the Microfiche in the Huejuquilla section.
Today there is a Cofradia in Huejuquilla but it is just a ranch and it is also listed on the map of Huejuquilla, Jalisco, Mexico.
Actualmente investigando mis ancestros me tope con mi tatatarabuelo Manuel Sanchez que se caso con Guadalupe Ulloa y tuvieron al menos 2 hijos Antonio Y Jose Ramon Sanchez Ulloa, ambos hermanos se casaron co 2 hermanas Guadalupe(1777) y Maria Dominga Larios Gutierrez(1782), si alguien comparte ancestros comunes o alguien puede ayudarme ya que no aparecen en los registros en Mezquital del Oro, supongo que fueron registrados en otro lugar.
Yo calculo que Manuel Sanchez debio nacer por 1740.

Hola a todos, mi nombre es Miguel y he estado investigando desde hace un tiempo a mi familia en Jalostotitlan, Jalisco, y a través de este gran foro de expertos he encontrado bastante información sobre el apellido González de Hermosillo que es uno de los más comunes de los Altos de Jalisco.
Sin embargo, algunos cabos sueltos aún me faltan, entre otros como ejemplo, Jose González de Hermosillo casado con Josefa Ochoa Garibay Ortiz de Zarate tuvieron varios hijos, uno de los cuales fue Nicolas González de Hermosillo y Ochoa Garibay quien caso en 1744 con María Antonia Gonzalez Rubio y de la Torre Ledesma, estos tuvieron también varios hijos, uno de ellos fue Agustín González de Hermosillo González Rubio, sin embargo no he podido encontrar algún dato sobre su nacimiento en ninguna parte.
Lo único que he encontrado al respecto fue el batch M6322-7 Film Number 279298 RN 2:PBN5TG en donde aparece que Agustin González hijo de Nicolas González y Maria Antonia González Rubio se caso en 1787 con Maria Gertrudis Martín, hija de Bartholo Martín y Gertrudis Hernandez en Jalostotitlan.
Agradecería mucho cualquier información que pudiesen aportarme sobre este particular y sobre otros que tengo, igualmente estoy a su disposición para cualquier aportación que les sirva de mi investigación.
I apologize if this question has been asked, I did a search and could not find a substantive answer here. It is fairly common knowledge that Spanish names in the Americas have "Z" instead of "S". Chavez instead of Chaves. My rudimentary understanding is that the "Z" was used to deal with some of the indigenous sounds in words and names already in use in South America.
My question. Does anyone know when this change took place? Was there an official edict from Spain? Was it done after the revolution? I really would like to read about this subject. Any help would be appreciated.

I have hit a brick wall and need advice. Looking at old church records for my great grandfather, Teodoro Escobedo, it shows "AP Estevan y Francisca Lozano" which I've always assumed meant his grandparents were Estevan Escovedo and Francisca Lozano (maiden name). However, with the help of that link I put up I found a church record for one of Teodoro's brothers, Enrique, but it was listed as follows: "Enrique Losano" and "AP Estevan Losano y Francisca Lira". It also shows Teodoro's father as a Losano, Gabino Losano, which has confused me. My question is "AP" stands for abuelos paternos right? That would be the grandparents of the person being christened or born, in this case Teodoro right? Or would AP be an older ancestor and am I missing an ancestor? I was told our family came originally from Jalisco but most of these, in fact all, are in Zacatecas which I knew we also came from, just not this far back. Were there a lot of mistakes on the old church records? They have always seemed to verify what I was told by my grandfather and this has confused me. Thanks for any advice or help.

I have a number of copies of Esteban Valdes Salazar's books: Historia de Totatiche Tomo I and Tomo II.
The first volume includes a history of Totatiche including some genealogical information such as a census of the 100 Tlaxcaltec families that arrived in Colotlan in 1591 and some transcriptions of old Colotlan Franciscan Convent marriage and baptism records from the late 1600s and early 1700s related to localities around Totatiche.
The second volume is a collection of land grant document transcriptions. Basically, nearly all of the original land grants made to the Spanish families in the region, including to the Gaete, Pinedo, Lemus, Fernandez de Jaraquemada, Gutierrez del Palacio, Urena, etc.

I'm been researching the Gonzalez line and I have hit a wall in Jalpa. I am stuck in my inability to find information for Jose Maria Gonzalez who married Julia Casillas. I have found two of his three of his children, Simon, Maria, and Lucas. Lucas is my direct descendant. Based on a marriage bann and marriage for Simon in Teul in 1865, I suspect that Jose Maria married Julia around 1830 (Simon was 35 at his marriage and was from Jalpa). Maria's wedding in 1869 took place in El Plateado (no age given for her--her husband was about 26) and she was from La Villita (between Jalpa and Huanusco). However, I've looked at the Jalpa weddings for 1827-1838 and the Tabasco film for this time period, and I didn't find Jose Maria's or Julia's wedding.
I also looked at Tabasco's bautismos for 1826-1838 and haven't found any baptisms for Simon his brothers and sisters. I've already ordered the film for the next decade to see if I can find Lucas' or Maria's (or other's) baptism record. But so far, I haven't found ANY baptisms for Jalpa in the Tabasco records.
I'm wondering where else I may find baptisms for people from Jalpa?
Also I am going to La Villita in December and was going to try to see the records of the churches in Jalpa and La Villita. Have any of you had success getting access to the books? Any suggestions for how to talk to the priests?
As a side note, I have found some interesting things about my direct ancestor's, Simon, family troubles. He married Valeriana Gonzales (no relation) in 1865, and she was supposedly a virgin "celibe", but there are two records of children born before the wedding, one of which may have been by another man. A few years later though she had several children by other men. The baptisms have the grandparents' info so i know it's the "same" Valeriana.
At first I suspected Simon might have died, but then I found that there were a few other Simon Gonzales from Teul de Gonzalez who had children from different women. Unfortunately, there was no info on the paternal grandparents or age that would help confirm whether these were the same Simons. if the are the same, this meant that Valeriana and Simon must have a very spicy relationship, one worthy of a few mariachi songs or a soap opera!

Estoy tratando de encontrar algun documento o la transcripcion de algun documento que pruebe que MAGDALENA DE AGUILAR (esposa de FRANCISCO ELIZONZDO) era hija de GASPAR DUARTE y MARIA DE AGUILAR (todos ellos vivian en MAZAPIL, Zacatecas, hacia 1625-1655). Me parece que el libro que cito al final del mensaje podria contener la informacion que necesito, en particular en la pagina 16. Si alguien lo tiene y por favor me puede pasar una foto o imagen de las porciones del libro en las que den información biografica sobre estos personajes o sus hijos se los agradecería. I am trying to find some document or the transcription of a document showing if MAGDALENA DE AGUILAR (wife of FRANCISCO ELIZONZDO) was the daughter of GASPAR DUARTE and MARIA DE AGUILAR (they all lived in MAZAPIL, Zacatecas, around 1625-1655). I think the following book may have this information, particularly on page 16. Hola compañeros de nuestros ranchos, tengo tiempo en búsqueda de mis ancestros de la Cámara y Menoyo, vecinos de la Hacienda de Santa Clara en jurisdicción de Jalpa, Zacatecas. La última persona que tengo registrada de dicha familia es a mi ancestro Juan de la Cámara y Menoyo, esposo de María Flores de la Torre, de quienes no tengo quienes son sus ancestros.
Juan de la Cámara y Menoyo y María Flores de la Torre tuvieron por hijo a Gabriel de la Cámara y Menoyo, segundo de sus hijos, quien casó en Nochistlán con María de la Asunción Corona Caxigales el 13 de noviembre de 1743, hija legítima de Cayetano Corona y Juana Teresa Caxigales, de quienes tampoco se quienes fueron sus ancestros.
Gabriel de la Cámara y Menoyo y María de la Asunción Corona tuvieron una hija llamada María Manuela Silvestra de la Cámara y Menoyo, bautizada el 05 de enero de 1750 en Nochistlán. Ella casó el 27 de noviembre de 1769 en Nochistlán con Carlos Antonio Dámaso Gallegos López, hijo de Santiago de los Reyes y María Magdalena López. Esta pareja es el tronco de los Gallegos del rancho el Mezquite y Mazatitlán de Tepatitlán.
Carlos Antonio Gallegos y María Manuela de la Cámara tuvieron por hija a María Gertrudis Florentina Gallegos de la Cámara, bautizada en Nochistlán el 20 de marzo de 1772, y casada en Tepatitlán el 08 de febrero de 1795 con Juan María de la Mora Hurtado de Mendoza, hijo legítimo de Miguel de la Mora Hurtado de Mendoza y María Petra de los Dolores de Hermosillo.
¿Alguno de ustedes tiene alguna información adicional que nos pueda proporcionar a los varios descendientes de esta familia que hay en el foro? Muchas gracias de antemano.

I need help...I'm trying to help my brother-in-law locate his g grandfather...Juan Ybarra......just trying to find out where he was born.
Manuel Ybarra married Elisa Ybarra in Dallas Tx . Manuel was born in Kaufman Tx on 1920. He had a brother named Birginio Ybarra born in 1927.
Their parents were Juan R Yabarra and Apolinaria Pena. Juan was born in Mexico but we can not find out where he was born. Juan's father was
Apolinario Ybarra or Abolinario Ybarra born in Mexico too we guess. Apolinario's wife only has a name of "Espiririona" not sure if this is a last name or a first name.
We got a hold of Juan Ybarra's Death certificate and this is where it says that his parents were Abolinario Ybarra and Espiririona.

Very excited to part of this community of folks in search of there families history...where to begin well my name is Rafael Arroyo Gomez, I am in search of my Father (given name) Francisco Flores Nuño but changed his name when he joined the army to Salvador M. Arroyo pedigree. He was born in El Salto Jalisco around 1940 +/- 5, His mother's name is Maria de Jesus Nuño also born in El Salto but around 1927 +/- 5. It is my understanding the he was a love child and his father X Flores never recognized him as his own, it is also my understanding that the Flores family made an attempt of contacting him in the 1980's but it would seem that he wanted nothing to do with them. Although both my father and grandma are still alive, they are not good resources because of there lack of interest in the Flores Family of El Salto. Both my brother and sister are extremely interested in learning more about my fathers side...my mother's pedigree is very well documented by Gabriel Agraz García de Alba of Tecolotlan, Profesor and Famous Jalisco historian.
Flores unknown - Side I am in search of... Francisco Flores born in El Salto Jalisco around 1940 +/- 5, His mother's name is Maria de Jesus Nuño also born in El Salto but around 1927 +/- 5.
Gomez Family from Tecolotlan and Tenamaxtlan Jalisco, Genealogy records to Tronco Don Juan Gomez Garcia Birth about 1620, first known Gomez in Tecolotlan, Jalisco.
