I found many chapters that reference Xauregui's. I did not find them initially because they fall under the descendants of families of different names. The book has 100 chapters but none of the chapters have titles with Xauregui's listed.

In order to find this surname you must go to the other index towards the back of the book which identifies pages where a specific surname can be found.

I agree Isais is a beautiful name.  This particular person was Elias Isais. He married Maria Guadalupe Romero a daughter of Maria Guadalupe Salinas and Marcelino Romero De Esnaurrizar. I suspect this family  lived in San Luis Potosi, SLP.

Enrique has a fabulous photo of the first De Esnaurrizar on the tree.  I saw the original, in fact. Enrique pulled it out of a little velvet covered box.  It is a profile carved out of wax. It was beautiful with the high collar and the curling sideburn.  This gentleman was quite important and a political figure in San Luis Potosi.   Feliz Navidad!   Mary

Some families do extend to other states, so you might find some of

Tomos (II - VI) and has all the surnames covered. If anyone wants me

Each chapter begins with the first settlers and then traces their

successful trip

Hello!

I actually returned on December 8 from Mexico City and San Felipe "Torres Mochas", Guanajuato,  but I believe a large piece of my heart is still in Mexico. That trip has totally changed my life. Really. I don't really know where to begin because it was such an incredible experience.

Much of the success of this trip I attribute to the kind help of many of you. There is Carol Turner who advised me about collecting "classic" photos, which I did.  I purchased a good digital camera just before I left and gave up trying to master the manual on the plane.  Luckily my new primo's son was into things electronic and taught me how to use it. Lucky me!  My 80-year-old primo Enrique Guzman Romero  has been into genealogy for decades and has written extensively about his town especially researching why it is called
"Torres Mochas".  He has  a magnificent collection of photos of several generations of the Romero family.  The most outstanding was his collection of wedding photos.

Rosalinda,

I took the time to do the lookup and I find that all of the Maria Duran's in this book were born prior to 1700. It may be that she's the daughter of one of these Duranes. The name Duran is very prominent in Nochistlan,
Teocaltiche and Xalostitlan.

Capitulo 2: Descendencia de Juan Ximon Duran y Regina de Aguayo, has many references to many given names for Duranes but mostly for the 17th century. They have baptisms, confirmations and marriages as well as death records, land grants or deeds, wills and partial testaments, also marriage investigations.

Just a little note........when I was in Salt Lake City in
September with Mickey Garcia we met with Jonathan and he is the nicest
guy!  He was very helpful and courteous!  As usual, we did not have
enough time to spend with him,  only one day!   We told him of
our proposed trip to SLC next October for the Hispanic Conference and he agreed
to do a small presentation.  At that time we suggested he give a
presentation on batch numbers because that is what he was helping us with.
Perhaps we can come up with some suggestions on topics he can help us
with.  When I spoke to the Sales Director of the Best Western Plaza Inn, he
said he could provide us with a meeting room if we had enough
attendees.

Ray ; What do you know about the Iniguiz line ? I only have a few members identified, my great grandmother - Elena Iniguiz from Jamay, Jalisco and her father Emilio Iniguiz. My mother said she was told that the Iniguiz were a good family  from Spain.
I wonder if you could tell me what you have learned about them as a family and I wonder if we may be related through that family.  My mom was a Ramirez, from Guadalajara, Jalisco. but that is another story.

Hi Alicia,
That's interesting that you have come
across these records, but Vasquez didn't, huh?  I don't have Jauregui in my
lines.  I just recall many Jaureguis from Jalos, but during my
lifetime.  I remember thinking it was an interesting name.  I haven't
run across that name that I can recall either in Jalos microfilm that I have
looked at which leads me to believe that they may have been newcomers from
elsewhere...  maybe it was Nochistlan..., and before that?  It is a
Basque name, but you probably already know that.

Irma, I think you may have hit on a good point because according to,

he

I'll give it a try.  The map

18 degrees North latitude. If you look at a modern map of Mexico,
you'll see the following States are inside this area: Nayarit, southern

Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Mexico, Guanajuato, Veracruz, San Luis

I have a book that shows a map of

these places:  (Starting in the South and going clock-wise )
Queretaro, Guadalajara, El Teúl, Colotlan, Durango, Cuencamé, Parras,

In his book he not only covers Nochistlan but also includes, Aguascalientes, Ayo El Chico, Mexticacan, Santa Maria de los Lagos, Teocaltiche, Tepatitlan, Xalostitlan y La Sagrada Mitra de Guadalajara.

According to the IGI, the highest concentration of Jauregui's settled within a 100 mile radius area of Nochistlan Zac and Mexticacan Jalisco which are about a 15 minute drive from each other. That would include Jalostitlan, Ixtlahuacan del Rio, Teocaltiche, Jalpa, Encarnacion de Diaz, Yahualica, Ameca and Tepatitlan de Morelos and a few others not mentioned here.. Mexticacan has the highest concentration of Jauregui's but Nochistlan's Jauregui's date back further than does Mexticacan. I did find
one older entry in Autlan de Navarro Jalisco.

Retonos de Espana en la Nueva Galicia

That would be interesting to know.  The
Jauregui surname is quite common in present day Jalostotitlan,
Jal. & N. Calif. (immigrants from same area.)  Maybe they were
newcomers as opposed to the early settlers mentioned in Retonos
