SEVILLA/APODACA/OCAMPO

My mothers side of the family is all Ocampo but are from El Remolino,
Zacatecas. I know that she has aunts and uncles, sibilings of my
grandfather who are Ocampos, who lived and some who are living in
different parts of Jalisco. Is there any other names you have with the
Ocampo last name??

I woul like to share any information that any one of you would have on
the following last names Sevilla from my Father side. Apodaca from my
Mother. Ocampo from my maternal Grandmother.
My ancestor come from the Santa Catarina/Zacoalco Jalisco areas. My
Father's name was Jose Paz Sevilla, son of Paulino Sevilla and Sixta
Morgutia. My Mother's name was Maria Apodaca doughter of Jose Apodaca
and Florencia Ocampo. My Maternal Grandmother was born in
Bellavista/Ocotlan de Juarez Jalisco a small town just South of Santa
Catarina.

Thanks to a cousin that I found via the Zacoalco web page I was able to
obtain much information on the APODACA last name..the Sevilla is the
one that I have little or no information. Any information please..

Jalisco: Las Cajas, Tlacuitapa, San Antonio de la Garza, Lagos de Moreno, Guadal

...I am just now starting to research my husbands side of the
family. The above towns are just a few of where they came from, and
so this should be a new adventure for me.

My in-laws do not remember much about their ancestry, as they live in
the USA now. The surnames associated with this side of my family are:

SANCHEZ
FRANCO
ESPINOZA
FLORES

My husband was born in Las Cajas in 1968. He has 12 siblings that
were born in Las Cajas, Rancho San Antonio de La Garza, Tlacuitapa
and Lagos de Moreno, respectively.

My father in law, Nicacio SANCHEZ ESPINOZA was born in Las Cajas.
Nicacio' father, Manuel SANCHEZ passed away in 12/1996, in Tlacuitapa
at his son, Paulino's house. His wife, Maria ESPINOZA passed away,
in 12/1991, at their home in Lagos de Moreno. Manuel & Maria had 9
children; Nicacio, Paulino, Isidoro, Lino, Guadalupe, Maria Soledad,
Juanita & Maria de La Luz. Most of them live in and around
Tlacuitapa & Rancho San Antonio de La Garza, with the exception of

New file uploaded BUGARIN

Hola Helyn.
It truly feels good to make a connection!!  My connection is thru Pedro Joseph Bugarin who married Maria Gertrudis Carrillo, their son Jose Francisco born about 1785, he married Maria Ygnacia Mota  and had a son Mateo Bugarin born about 1824 and he married Claudia De Avila 1-19-1850.  They had a son Longinos Bugarin who was born in Tlajomulco, Guadalajara Jalisco and  his second wife Basilia Anchondo and Longinos are my husband's grandparents and it was Longinos that changed the name from Bugarin to Bugarini.

Good info on the twins, by the way do you have any info on the parents of Pedro Joseph de Bugarin?  I was recently contacted by another Bugarin and he told me that Pedro's father was Albaro Cosme Bugarin,  I also think this is possible but am trying to verify.  any suggestions?
I did look at a marriage film but there were no family members listed, so no help there.   In any case lets keep searching and sharing.      Yolanda

Hispanic Clergy Could be in the Running

April 4, 2005

ALEXANDRA ALTER

In a nod to the emergence of Catholics from Latin America, several
prominent Latin American cardinals have been cited as possible
contenders for the papacy.

Most are theologically conservative but socially liberal, according to
Christie Vila, an expert on Catholicism in Latin America and a
researcher at the University of Miami.

"It would be exciting to have a Latin American pope because the church
will soon be more from the Southern Hemisphere than from the Northern
Hemisphere," Vila said.

Prominent Latin American contenders for the papacy include:

Theologically conservative, but active in confronting poverty and other
social ills, the Franciscan archbishop of San Paulo is considered one of
the leading Latin American candidates. Hummes, 70, who once supported a

The Cristero Rebellion

Hello Felipe and Rancheros,  :)

      My dad's family was mainly
from Jalostotitlan, and my mother's family was from Jalostotitlan & San Juan
de los Lagos.  My maternal grandmother was a Padilla like just about
everyone in San Juan.  Her family was from the following ranchos:
Potrero de en Medio, El Tule, La Estancia Vieja, etc.,  I still need to do
more research.
I used to visit my maternal grandparents
every 5 years, and we would stay with them in San Juan.  My grandparent's
"city" home was just about 3 blocks from the Basilica--Calle
Primavera.  I have many fond memories.  The cantor at the Basilica is
a relative, and my godmother also lives near the Centro Camionera--Bus
Station.
    Everyone's relative's memories of the
Cristiada have been interesting.  My parents were very young, but also have
memories of the event.  On my last visit to Los Altos almost 3 years ago,
my father pointed out two very tall hills which surrounded his family
ranch.  He told me
