As Joseph points out, you need not supply your entire genealogy in order to join the group. I think it is necessary for you to share part of it, however, in order for others to confirm whether they share the same lineages as you. Of course once you make that connection, you are free to collaborate as much or as little as you want with those individuals.

I have found that group members in general are very generous with their research, particularly with others who share their lineages.

As you are aware, I became member of nuestrosranchos.org very recently. From
the little that I have seen so far, without doubt that my research has been
very limited. Specifically, I am counting in my family tree 218 individuals
with the Michel surname (me included) and only 5 with the Villaseñor
surname. About 70-80% (fortunately me included) are alive. These individuals
are scattered over 8 generations. Not all individuals for each of the
generations are fully identified yet. My ancestors were born in the state of
Jalisco, mostly Autlan de Navarro.

As you may conclude, without doubt I would be interested in contacting my
most-probably-relative Juan Andres Michel. But also without doubt that my
piece of sharing would not be commensurate with Juan Andres´.

When I was a kid I used to collect cards with Disney characters. After many
months of hard work my collection was almost complete, about 95%. Then I met
a girl who was starting her own collection, and she had the ones I needed
badly. Bottom line, I was able to complete my collection. You will surely
guess the morale of my story...

I have to smile at the thought of only submitting certain portions of my research in exchange for information from others. I don't know what part of Mexico is being requested for these lines. I do have Villasenor and Lopez de Lara from Zapotlan El Grande and Tamazula Jalisco. Since I've had problems with the gedcom I would suggest you check on Rootsweb.com where I submitted all my research in the hopes of helping others to reconnect with their ancestors. I hope I have something that will contribute to your research also. If not, then hopefully someone else will connect. Good luck in your search.
