Maria,

I will try and use your database, when I have the chance. My
situation is that I am using over 300 films, right now and I am just
barely getting them, into my database. So once, that is done. I'll
work on putting them, into your database.

Sagrada Mitra records Questions

If you all could ask Luz Montejano some questions what would you like
to know in addition to my questions below?

1) When did you start your research for writing your book?

2) The films  you extracted don't appear to be in consecutive order. Is
there a reason you chose those specific films to extract?

3) do you have plans on continuing your record extractions for other

4) Are you writing any other books? If so what are the subjects?

5) What other books have you written?

6) what is contact information for the purchase of your books?

Connie. . .you did the major thing I wanted and that was communication.
If you need longer okay no problem, but if you want to put together a
simple Word File or even if you want to use your un-updated work on
your genealogy program to create a Genealogy report that would be okay
for now. You decide. thanks for showing an interest in the group. I'm
glad  you find it of value.

Maria,

I am interested in trying to obtain a copy of the book "Retocos de Espaca en la Nueva Galicia" which you talk about in your response to Alicia, through the Interlibrary Loan System.  Can you give me more detail like, the publisher, catalog number, date published or ISBN number.  Also, the name "Retonos de Espana en la Nueva Galicia" sounds more like what the title should be?  I have similarly obtained a copy of the "Sagrada Mitra" .

J  I’ve just been
avoiding doing it because I don’t know how to and I thought it would take
up a considerable amount of time to figure it out.  I do lots with computers, but in all my
years of research I have never uploaded genealogy files! (Believe
it or not!)
  Also, I have
many living individuals on my tree & don’t know how to block
them.  Finally, I have only 1 tree
that includes everyone and it’s terribly outdated.  I know this is probably not the best way
to do things, but I used the software at the beginning to simply help me sort
people. Once I got so many others, I got so far behind in data entry that the
tree I have is years behind my current information.  Truth is, I’ve
been working so deeply on the extractions and on Spanish research in
Pamplona, that I’ve totally neglected updating my tree.

Nonetheless, I promise to make a serious
effort this month to get all this done.
I’m assuming you’ve

IGI & VRI batches database

We have a database out there of IGI and VRI batches. I just added a
column for people to post their name or userid who have the film on
permanent loan at their local FHC who wouldn't mind doing lookups for
others. This could become very useful if we all add our film numbers
to this database. You can leave the batch number column blank and
note 'film' in the source column if that particular film isn't on the
IGI or VRI.

New Towns in My Research: Mazapil and Jerez (Monte Escobedo), Zacatecas

Alicia,

I worked for about a year at the beginning,
with very few breakthroughs, but just enough tidbits to keep my appetite going.
My early research taught me many things the hard way – lots of experience
from mistakes.   As I moved into my second year of
research, I realized that this was definitely not going to be a piece of cake.  While there were a few dates & such
that I came across, I found much less than I had anticipated.

But I resolved two things:  First, to learn about everything I could
while I was on this ride…even if it wasn’t directly involved with
my ancestors; and second, to consider each ‘dead end’ a wonderful
confirmation of where my ancestor WASN’T. I just scratched that town or
date off the list & kept on with the next one.  It made for a different perspective…and
cemented my commitment to this lifelong journey.  No longer was I in a desperate hurry to find
the elusive baptismal or the mysterious ranch.  Instead I saved every piece of info I

I have communicated with Luz in the past (by
phone & email) and she is definitely an interesting person!  She was very gracious in helping me with some
information.  If you have specific
questions, I’d be glad to put some type of interview together.  It’s been a while since I’ve
written formal Spanish & I’m getting a bit rusty!  This would be a wonderful opportunity.  Interviewing Mariano Gonzalez-Leal would also
prove interesting.  If anyone needs help
formulating questions into more formal Spanish, I’d be happy to lend my
limited expertise.

Anyone from Los Altos interested in asking Lic. Mariano Gonzalez-Leal if
he might be interested in doing a short interview on his work? I think
it would be so interesting to have him just explain the different phases
his work has gone through from when he first started to now. Can you

Arturo,

Take a look at the following data. As you can see this is all very
sketchy information but it is all I have right now on Pinedo. But is
is from the same places you're looking at.

Margarita Pinedo is my maternal great grandmother. Please keep a note
of this just in case some of the same names come up in your research.

Ancestors of Margarita Pinedo
First Generation

  1. Margarita Pinedo, daughter of Anselmo Pinedo and Catarina
Serrano, was born about 1852 in El Salto, Jalisco, México.

Margarita married Loreto Villagrana, son of Rafael Villagrana and
María_Luisa Del Real, on 18 May 1874 in Monte Escobedo, Zacatecas,
México.(1)

  Children from this marriage were:

           i. Julio Villagrana was born in Monte Escobedo, Zacatecas,
México.
