I am looking for information regarding the Marquez families in Teocaltiche, more specifically from Atepoca. I was told that my great grandmother, Francisca Marquez lived in a Hacienda, but I can not find that information anywhere. Does anybody know how I can go about finding out that information?

I have begun to systematically go through film 0443967 (Tlaltenango Matrimonios 1626-1723) since the film is not indexed. I am up to about 1642 now and about 80-90% of the marriages are for Indios with no surnames. However, there are a few indios with surnames and a few Spanish marriages interspersed there and I imagine that will increase as I go further in time on the film.
If anybody has any families/lineages that they want me to keep an eye open for while I do this, please let me know.

Just wondering if anyone has seen something like this. For the marriage of Diego Ximenez and Apolonia Diaz de Leon (Ruis de Esparza), there is a marriage recorded in Asientos (Nuestra Señora de Belen) on 23 enero 1710 (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-67YS-D95?i=23&wc=M6QX-…). The entry starts at the end of page 23 and continues on page 24. But there is an entry in Informacion Matrimonial in the city of Aguascalientes dated 8 febrero 1710 (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-DCF9-WL6?i=226&wc=M6QX…) for the same couple. I cannot find a marriage record in February or March in El Sagrario records. A curiosity.
I have discovered that I am a descendant of Lorenzo de Luevana (died abt. 28 Jul 1741 in Aguascalientes) and his wife, Catharina Marin de Tiscareño (died about 25 Jul 1737). I have Lorenzo's parents' names from his burial record, but the parents of Catharina were not mentioned in hers. I looked at some trees at Family Search and Ancestry to try and get a sense of additional ancestors for this couple, and while some names are mentioned, I don't see any specific proof to add connections. For example, the marriage record for Lorenzo's parents, Andres de Luevana and Cristina de Salazar, does not include parents, but people have identified some; however, there is no noted record to confirm the connection.
Does anyone have any more on Lorenzo and Catharina (I'd like an identification and proof of her parents) or on Lorenzo's ancestry?

Recently I have been revisiting some lines that I had worked on a few years ago, trying to tie down some loose ends.
Two loose ends I wanted to put forward regarding Cristóbal Martínez Lozano (el Viejo) are the following:
1) In "Retoños de España" it is stated that Cristobal obtained genealogical information from the city of Leon. My two questions are a)which León, Castilla or Guanajuato?
b)Has someone found this information such that you could share the images or the transcription? Below is the quote from Retoños
"Este caballero promovió la información genealógica a que con anterioridad se hace referencia y que se levantó en la Villa de León -cosa hasta cierto punto extraña porque en ella no tuvo intereses patrimoniales ni familiares- el 28 de febrero de 1628," Vol. 1, Volume 5, Part 2. I do not have an exact page number because the online source that is quoting this did not provide one.
2) Has someone found Cristobal's will? That would probably say whose daughter María de Isla was and whether she was indeed the illegitimate daughter or Benito de Isla, and who the mother was. I know some of the Aguascalientes wills are available online, but his is not listed. I am wondering if it would be in Guadalajara?

For those of you researching Teocaltiche, Jalisco, the attached files will be of interest. These are two sets of extractions of very early death records which I believe have never been microfilmed. The first set (1641-1733) was generously provided to me by the late Dr. J. Leon Helguera, who had received them from another researcher. The second set (1696-1819) was done by me. Note that some of the data overlap and, in a few cases, entries are interpreted differently.

Does that go far back to the colonial days of Mezquitic and is that spanish?

Fechado 9 de febrero de 1758 en Xalostitlán, con 21 foxas se encuentra información adicional muy valiosa de la familia Flores de la Torre en la Nueva Galicia. Este documento establece aun más los vínculos que se encuentra en esa familia. Menciona algunos miembros de esta casa que ni tenía en mis archivos.
En el documento menciona que el Br. Joseph Miguel Flores de la Torre era bautizado en la parroquia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción de Xalostitlán el 5 de octubre de 1735 con el nombre Joseph Miguel María Flores de la Torre y Vallarta. Su padrino de bautizo era el Lic. D. Joseph de Feijóo Centellas, Cura de Guadalajara, hermano del Lic. Sebastián de Feijóo Centellas, Chantre de la Iglesia de Guadalajara y Micaela de Feijóo Centellas, mujer de Manuel Francisco Xavier Rincón Gallardo, IV Mayorazgo de Ciénega del Rincón, ambos hijos del muy afamado Lic. Francisco de Feijóo Centellas, Oídor de la Real Audencia de Guadalajara y su mujer Micaela de Moya y Palacios ambos originarios de los Reinos de Castilla en Málaga, Andalucía.
El Br. Joseph Miguel Flores de la Torre y Vallarta era hijo legítimo de D. Joseph Tomás Flores de la Torre y Franco de Paredes, originario de la parroquia de Xalpa, jurisdición de Aguascalientes y su mujer Da. Ángela Manuela de Vallarta y Lomelín y Mendoza. Éstos casaron en Xalostitlán el 26 de novienmre de 1726. Sólo he encontrado otro hijo que bautizaron, Ignacio Francisco Xavier Flores de la Torre y Vallarta, el 27 de diciembre de 1737 en Xalostitlán.
D. Joseph Tomás Flores de la Torre y Franco de Paredes era hijo legítimo del capitán Joseph Flores de la Torre y Ana Franco de Paredes, antiguos vecinos de Jalpa. Por el otro lado Ángela Manuela de Vallarta era hija del nobílisimo penínsular y patriarca de la familia en Los Altos de Jalisco, Carlos Francisco de Vallarta, Teniente de la Real Justicia de Xalostitlán y Juana de Lomelín y Mendoza. Además, menciona que el Br. Joseph Miguel Flores de la Torre, tenía tres tíos maternos que también entraron en la Iglesia, 1) Br. Carlos Vicente de Vallarta, 2) Br. Antonio de Vallarta y 3) el Br. Joaquín de Vallarta.
Da. Juana de Lomelín y Mendoza era hija de D. Manuel de Lomelín y Mendoza y Da. Josefa Pérez Maldonado, de acuerdo con que establece en su limpieza de sangre. Menciona que un primo (creo debe ser primo segundo, no menciona la relación) del Br. Joseph Miguel Flores de la Torre era el Lic. Diego Pérez Maldonado, Cura Interino de Nochistlán en esos años.
Por el lado paterno, menciona que el Br. Joseph Miguel Flores de la Torre tenía tíos paternos y primos hermanos que también entraron en la Iglesia. Un tío del Br. Joseph Miguel Flores de la Torre era el Br. Cayetano Flores de la Torre, hermano de su padre D. Joseph Tomás Flores de la Torre. Además, tuvo quatro sobrinos éste Joseph Tomás, quatro hijos clerigos, ambos hijos del capitán D. Nicolás Flores de la Torre y Bárabara Isabel González de Hermosillo. Estos debieron ser el Br. Juan Xavier Flores Alatorre, Alumno del Colegio de San Felipe de Neri de Guadalajara, el Dr. Vicente Antonio Flores Alatorre, Cura Vicario de Aguascalientes, el Reverando Juan Manuel Flores Alatorre, Caballero de la Orden de Carlos III y miembro de los Masones y el Padre Manuel Antonio Flores Alatorre que murió en el Vaticano el 28 de enero de 1797. Esta familia funcionaba como el Curato de Aguascalientes por unos cinquenta años en Aguascalientes.
Menciona en las últimas páginas como testigos el Lic. D. Joseph de Feijóo Centellas que le conoce y es su padrino. Su abuelo materno, D. Carlos Francisco de Vallarta originario de los Reinos de Castilla y Teniente de la Real Justicia de Xalostitlán. Menciona, su tío abuelo el Cor. Juan de San Pedro Flores de la Torre, conquistador del Nayarit y Gobernador del Nuevo Reino de Toledo (Colima) y ostentaron otros oficios a que solo se dan a las personas bien nascidos, tenidas y conocidas. Menciona que el Br. Joseph Miguel Flores de la Torre y Vallarta es de calidad español y muy conocido de padres nobles y de linaje bueno y su limpieza de sangre.

Tampoco nada claro sobre Petronila, fuera del rumor que existe sobre una dispensa solicitada por sus descendientes para un matrimonio. Guillermo Padilla Origel's book, Extractos de Informes Matrimoniales en el Obispado de Michoacán durante el Siglo XVII (1630-1685), is referenced a couple of times on NR and Somos Primos. Does anyone know if there is much overlap between what is available on Valladolid Dispensas and the extracts contained in the book? It does not appear to be available for purchase any longer.

1. Sebastian de Mercado married to Ana de Santillan. Date on the title 2 junio 1644. Title for Ana de Santillan now a widow of Sebastian de Mercado
2. Francisco de Acuna married to Beatriz Mercado. Granddaughter of Ana de Santillan (that is mentioned in the title) Date of the title: 26 mar 1648. Very possible "adjudicacion de tierra" to her granddaughter
NOTE: I'm hoping that these two couples are going to give me any clues on the parents of Juana Mercado (wife of Bernardo Carrillo Davila), because after the property was owned by Beatriz de Mercado (and Francisco de Acuna) the land "goes" to Pedro de la torre Acosta married to Nicolasa Carrillo Davila Mercado daughter of Juana de Mercado.

Through these years I have tried to link the historical references of the ancestor "Gines Básquez de Mercado" with the current family.... I want to emphasize that I have found that the surname "Vázquez del Mecado" through several centuries has derived as "Vázquez del Mercado", "Mercado", and a large part of those who currently have only "Mercado" as their surname derive from the original surname "Basquez de Mercado".
Currently my interest is to be able to discover the link between the "Básquez de Mercado" family from the time of the conquest with the family settled mainly in Jalisco, Zacatecas, Durango, Aguascalientes and CDMX between the period 1540 to 1700.... I am grateful to this site for the opportunity to advance the investigation of the family relationships mentioned and to be able to collaborate with members who share similar interests.

Looking for my 4th GGrandfather Cipriano Puente born in Fresnillo in 1787 but the records don't go back that far for that location.
Does anyone know why the records for Fresnillo are so few? Were the records lost? The city was established in 1554 so the records must be someplace if not lost.

Has anyone had any experience in researching records in The San Judas Tadeo church in Villanueva, Zacatecas? My wife and I are planning to visit there this summer. Her Corvera and Marquez ancestors lived there. I'm just curious as to how approachable the church staff would be for us to see their old written records. Hi All, I have been a member here since 2016, with Martin Renteria noted in the records of my wife, Judith Martinez, with her Martinez family very well established and recorded in the Coahuila and Nuevo Leon areas of Mexico. Martin Renteria settled in the Llerena and Sombrete regions of Zacatecas, where he died in 1610. My link to Martin Renteria is via daughter Mayor Renteria, who also settled in the Nuevo Leon area, and ties back to the Martinez family through many other Nuevo Leon/Coahuila surnames.
My interest in this website came about when performing some research for the Reynoso family while living in Phoenix, Arizona. Our families both had moved from Globe, Arizona (a mining town) to Phoenix, Arizona (about 70 miles west). While conducting the Reynoso research, I found that the Reynoso family also had ties to the Renteria family. My focus lately had been with restoring the existing website after it went down. It is also with maintaining the current Nuestrosranchos site. This is all a part of the effort of the tech group that was assembled when the site went down in 2021. The tech group is also in the process of upgrading the site to a newer version of software for future use. The existing website software is a bit dated (Support for the software ended in 2016). The new site and software are current (2022), and when approved by the tech group this site will be hosted at a different location.
My introduction today is on behalf of my Grandson, Paul Hernandez, who married Alejandra Zermeno Moreno earlier this year (2022). The Zermeno family is well established in the Jalisco region, and this family is traced back to several conquistadors (via the Zermeno and Brambila) surnames.
This branch of the Zermeno family was listed early in Lagos and surrounding areas, but eventually settled in Juchitlan, Jalisco, Mexico and Union de Tula, Jalisco Mexico. I have included a file in the Members Files Area listed under Zermeno, Alejandra, with her pedigree chart through several generations.

Hello everyone,
I am looking for information on Apolonio Romero and Maria Jesus Sanchez, they last lived in or around el rancho de Santa Isabel, La Cuartilla, Santa Teresa or Jabonera near Jalp, Zacatecas. I was able to find Maria Jesus Sanchez death record in Jalpa, Zacatecas and it showed that her parents were Timoteo Sanchez and Manuela Delgadillo but I can't find anything past that.
For Apolonio Romero I can not find anything. they had at least 9 kids that I can find but not birth or baptism records anywhere for them.

In searching for documents related to my Michoacan ancestors in the Spanish Inquisition archives... I ran across a potential clue to the origin of the Lopez Bueso family of Tecolotlan, Tamazula, Autlan, etc. (My wife has Lopez Bueso ancestors which is why I decided to take a look, I'm glad I did!)
I found the following document in the Mexican Spanish Inquisition archives:
Proceso criminal contra Andres Lopez de Bueso, casado dos veces - Guadalajara (1617)
The case revolves around Andres Lopez Bueso who turned himself in for "bigamo, por ser casado dos veces"... In it we learn that he's originally from Antequera, Espana - son of Pedro Bueso and Ana de Vera. He left Spain and left behind a wife and re-married in Mexico around 1615. He married Ana de Escobar, hija de Hernando de Munguia and Isabel de Escobar, sobrina de Francisco Ruiz Galindo (Who gives testimony).
I can't seem to find any children from this couple, but, they did settle around in the "provincia de Avalos" - and they appeared to move around Zapotiltic, Sayula, and Colima.
All in all, I really have a strong feeling that this Andres Lopez de Bueso is THE connection for the Lopez Bueso's to Spain. I feel that Nicolas Lopez de Bueso (who married Nicolasa de Guerrero y Ocon) could very well be one their kids.
Not only that, but we also find a connection to the Munguia family that lived around the same area. Could the father of Ana de Escobar, Hernando de Munguia, the progenitor of the Munguia Villela family that laid roots around Tamazula, Cotija, Sayula, etc.?

ok the website has needed to be updated for a few years now as the Drupal is way out of date. I checked with DreamHost who is my ISP and they say they will do it for $300 which I thought was pretty reasonable.
I've been paying for everything since inception in 2002 and I'm NOT going to pay for this. Having said that I'm not going to take the site down if you all refuse to foot this bill. So what do you think would asking each of you to donate $10 be too much to ask? I said $10 because I don't think MANY of you all will separate with a few buck but I do hope 30 of you will. . .but hey surprise me and make me a rich man and flood my mailbox with ten dollar bills.
