Jerez, Zacatecas. La Inmaculada

Susana:

In addition to all of the missing films you mention, Leonardo de la
Torre Berumen, the municipal archivist in Jerez tells me that most of
the years for confirmations in the mid-1600s are also available and
while these are not as comprehensive as the baptisms as children that
die young, etc. were not confirmed, any children that survived and
later got married and procreated would certainly be in there.

There are also a whole series of "hojas sueltas" from the old
Franciscan Convent in Colotlan that were never filmed. These are
also from marriages, baptisms, burials in the mid-1600s. Also would
be great to break through these brick walls.

I am going to try to access the latter when I am down there next
week. I will inquire about getting to see the former. Would be
worthwhile to have them all filmed (and indexed). Someone in the
group mentioned that they had Benito Samuel Sanchez Garcia help them
arrange filming of previously unfilmed records.

Jerez, Zacatecas. La Inmaculada

To anyone researching in La Inmaculada/Jerez,
Zacatecas

I have some information that can be valuable for
anyone researching in Jerez

1. THE CASE OF THE 20-25 PAGES OF
MARRIAGES

The first time I reviewed the film # 440059.
Matrimonios 1712-1745. I noticed that the film started in the middle of the
book. I searched for the missing pages until I found them. They are in the
previous film. Film # 440058. Informacion Matrimonial 1961. Yes, you read right
1961. In this film after the 1961 information, all the way at the end of the
film.( You even pass a section in "blank".) There is the first roll of film of
marriages. There are about 20-25 pages of the oldest marriages in microfilm for
Jerez (1712), part of the 1st book.
I already
spoke to the expert for Latin-American in the main Library in Utah (that
was 2 years ago). I hope they will place a note in the Library Catalogue
in the near future.

2. THE CASE OF THE MISSING MICROFILMS

Recently I spoke over the phone to

Caldera connection

Susana, thank you so much for posting so much wonderful work with
documentation. My 2 Caldera lines are from El Durazno, district of
Jerez with the records showing some of thier children moving to Boca
De San Pedro. I did not have a parent/parents for Nicolas Caldera/
Leonor Rodarte in my files, I thank you for that.
I have only taken my direct Caldera lines of Andres Caldera, abt 1720,
wife, Catarina Gertrudis De La Cueva, abt 1730 and Joseph Antonio del
Carmen/Carmel Caldera abt 1735, wife Ana de la Trinidad Garcia abt
1730. Even though I think they are related I have not been able to
prove it.. Even though the records all say Espanol for these Caldera's
I'm always looking for Indio's too.
thank you again, what a wonderful addition you are to the Rancho's
group.

Archivo General de la Nación.

Hi Ed:

Regarding the Archivo General de la Nacion: It is the largest repository of  files that originated since colonial times to the present. Record types are Church, civil, punishment, properties, immigrants, etc., etc. The source of information that Archivo General de la Nacion saves, is very rich in "historic documents", and "vital records". AGN is the place where the most important records are protected by the government of Mexico. The vital records from Mexico that are microfilmed, for instance, by "The Genealogical Society of Utah", are available at Archivo General de la Nacion. A copy of the microfilms from places in Mexico is donated to the AGN, but their
copies are very deteriorated. They take very little care of their documents and microfilms, their explanation is: "It is too expensive to take care of them".

There are other several sources of information that are also being microfilmed, and are available at the Family History Library of Utah, and their  Family

Caldera and Carlos families from Zacatecas

I, too, am interested in hearing more about the Caldera and Carlos families
from Zacatecas. I have an assortment of Calderas from Zacatecas who went to
Durango. I have a grandma named Victoria Zavala-Carlos (H) Onofre
Aguilar-Hernandez who had Maria-del-Refugio "Cuca" Aguilar-Zavala from
Fresnillo. Also a grandma Maria-Anacleta "Cleta" Caldera married to
José-María(1) Garcia from Tepetongo.

I envision a hard time with the Calderas because I understand there were
about a dozen Miguel Calderas living about the same time, of which Don
Miguel Caldera was the only mestizo or Spaniard. All others were Indians who
had taken his name to honor him. All had a large number of children except
don Miguel. Regarding don Miguel: this is the book about him. It has been
translated into Spanish.

Capitán Mestizo: Miguel Caldera y la frontera norteña la pacificación de los
chichimecas (1548-1597) by Philip Wayne Powell
P. 18 mentions who his parents were (his mother was baptized, so

To the person who asked me about Benicio Samuel Sanchez Garcia
of Genealogia del Norte de Mexico. I
misplaced the e-mail and could not reply to you. Also, a senior moment
impeded my remembering your name.

I e-mailed him and he does speak English, so feel free to contact him. He is
expecting your e-mail.

Arturo:

It will be great if you can send me the information
that you have. I have a book about Miguel Caldera, but I don't have the sources
to be able to link him to Pedro Cid Caldera. (Father of Catalina Cid Caldera).
Where did you find this information?. I just submitted my information for the
Cid Caldera Lineage. It is in Ranchos2.

To ALL:
I am very happy to meet so many cousins, and
specially to share my information. Thank you so much for your kind
words.

Thanks

I think you are going to be amazed at
what Susana has put together.  I
had bits and pieces of this family's
history from the Sagrada Mitra but
she has been able to piece it all
together amazingly well just from
those
dispensations.

Erlinda:

Yes I think that Rosalinda

Erlinda:

Yes I think that Rosalinda and I are both Calderas, in that we are
descendants of Pedro Cid Caldera, who in turn was in turn, the nephew
of Miguel de Caldera.

Susana:

Thank you so much for the information. You will see that I have the
birthdate for Agustin (Catalina's son). I will search to see what else
I have on these people as I go through your work. Have you seen what
Rosalinda and I have on the two Carlos de Godoy descendancies that we
share? I can send you a GEDCOM of these if you like.
