While I don't tie into any of the family lines to most of these areas, Emilie's postings are some of the most inspirational. Emilie, you have a way of thinking and communicating that is charming and contagious. When you write I feel that you write from the heart and that you truly have a direct connection to the ancestors. I look forward to the day when we can meet face to face, just as we did in Sacramento yesterday.

Yesterday's meeting was magical, to come face to face with people who may or may not have common ancestors but have the same love of family, Mexico and it's traditions and the desire to assist others in their research. Traveling with Helyn was wonderful. I first met Helyn on-line via the ranchos group when she invited me to go to the Fremont FHC which is a considerable distance from my home. We have been seeing each other at the Fremont FHC since the spring and had met previously with Rich and Kitty Cortez and we met with Joseph and
his wife last August during their

I have been corresponding with this man for the last week and I will
be meeting with him during my upcoming trip to Mexico. He has
proposed doing research in the Zacatecas state archives for a monthly
stipend. I was wondering if there is anybody who is intereste and
would be willing to "try him out". His name is Leonardo de La Torre
Berumen and he is the municipal archivist in Jerez.

Ranchos Joseph....Man of the year!!!!

Joseph, I nominate you for man of the year for putting this group together. You have been the catalyst for many wonderful connections within the members

A few days prior to the meeting, just out of the blue, I sent an e-mail to Robert in Sacramento, asking if he knew the three people I had mentioned, with his same surname. Robert responded that the names were of his grandparents, and his aunt. Needless to say, I got "goose bumps" when I read his message.

Roberts grandparents, and my parents had been friends for many years,  but sadly, lost touch after the "war years". The third person in my inquiry, is his aunt, which we have now realized is Godmother to Robert, my sister, and me.

We had e-mails transmitting twice a day, then I realized that Roberts father is my sisters Godfather. Robert made arrangements for a second reunion of the day with his family.
Our Nina invited Alicia, and me for a reunion dinner, with her family including Roberts father, his uncle, and aunt

Francisca Cerros Gonzalez

Hi Emilie:

RIGHT AGAIN!!!

That is my mother's record.

It looks like whoever gave the information (probably my
younger brother) got the year wrong. My father was born in 1906 and we always
knew that my mother was three years older than he.

Thank you.

John,  could this be your mother?  The birth date is 1906, not
1903.  You could get a copy of this certificate and see who gave the info
to the mortuary.  You may recognize the name of a relative.  Isn't
Lodi in San Joaquin County?

John,

Have you seen this entry in the Family Search IGI for a Prisciliano Cerro
Godina born in Panuco?  If this is yours, then the Gods are still with
you.
