Orozco Moreno from San Diego de Alejandría

There is an Orozco Moreno family of which I am looking for their ancestors and cannot find them.

Hello Jose, my family was also from San Diego de Alejandria, Jalisco. My paternal great-grandmother was Maria Refugia Camarena Ayala, b. 1861 and married my great-grandfather, Guadalupe Gutierrez, b. 1853. I went on the GeneaNet website and found the genealogy chart for my great-grandmother---click on website below to see the chart and see if we have "parentisco."
http://gw5.geneanet.org/sanchiz?lang=en;p=maria+refugia;n=camarena=ayala

Hope this helps.

Comment

Hi Ann Marie

Thanks for the info. The Guadalupe Camarena I am looking for was a grandmother already on 1803, so I am guessing she must have been born around 1755 or 1765. In the chart you send me there is a Guadalupe Camarena borned around 1785 whom in 1803 would´ve been 18 years old, so I am almost sure she is not the one. Thanks anyway and if i find something I´ll let you know.

about the pedro cid caldera and his wife maria carrillo

i've seen several family trees showing maria carrillo also also being his niece. how was this connect made. I can't seem to find any document showing who maria carrillo's parents are.

Comments

Well, I would ask the creators of the trees for their sources-- I've seen plenty of mistakes on Ancestry. I would stick with the contemporary documents, and if the creators of the trees identify a source, then I would follow up. I personally haven't seen a relationship like the one you saw.

i just found this today
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18413-46122-90?cc=1874591&wc…

i wonder if the owner of the tree assumed the pedro carrillo davila on the tree was the same one who married catalina cid caldera(i haven't found enough evidence to proove this assumption right or wrong.)
i think this tree has some errors in it. first of all joseph roman's mother was maria carrillo, yet josefa cid caldera(her parents are pedro cid caldera and juana rosales)'s name was put under maria carrillo name

Looking For 1827 Dispensa

Joseph this message doesn't seem to show up on the Nuestros Ranchos

The Dispensas were only required if the couple getting married had some kind of family relation (by blood, by marriage, by "illicit relations", etc.). I don't know if all the marriage permits listed in the Dispensas have duplicate entries in the Información matrimonial records. That's a good question.
So, family relation of some kind, you MUST get a Dispensa; no family relation at all, you are OK just with Información matrimonial.

I know for sure that there are marriages where the Información Matrimonial record is available as well as the dispensa as well as the regular marriage record.

I think that the Información Matrimonial records that can't be found are simply missing. Just as many baptism and marriage records are simply missing.

What happens is that someone hacks into a members email account and then
once they are in they can send out messages to anyone in their address book.
This is what appears to have happened. Once I saw the message I immediately
suspended Raul Macias account and will reinstate in only after he replies to
me assuring me that he has changed his password and is confident that this
will not happen again.

Sorry but there is nothing that can be done to prevent this from
occasionally happening. If someone has any ideas please send them to me

I wasn't able to find a connection to any of the other families in Lagos. The puesto or haciendo El Potrero could be a clue to finding a relation to one of them. I don't know who owned it or which families lived there or even the geographical location. If you can get that info it might be of help.

Also look through the volumes of Información Matrimonial for 1713-1715, 1711-1712, and 1711 to see if you can find a record for Nicolas Sanchez Moreno and Maria Flores.

Hello,

I have some more information that may help find the origins of this couple. After some more searching I have not found the marriage for Nicolas and Maria yet but I have found some more marriages of their children.

A)Maria Francisca b. 1723 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NBM8-T5W married Jose Leonardo de Parada y Villalpando (brother of Hilario)29 May 1742 in Lagos de Moreno.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18560-23046-99?cc=1874591&wc…

B)Juana Quieteria b. 1725 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18568-45073-18?cc=1874591&wc… married Jose Ramon Parada (brother of Leonardo and Hilario)6 Jun 1745 in Lagos de Moreno. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18560-25896-39?cc=1874591&wc…

It seems that the Parada family was close to the Sanchez Flores Family. The rancho they lived at Los Conejos is close to a rancho called El Potrero de Afuera both in Lagos. The mother of the three brothers used different surnames (Manriques, Villalpando, and Navarette) so I have not been able to figure out their origins either. It seems, also, that Miguel, Luisa, Maria Francisca used the name Angulo after the 1740's. Luisa and Maria Francisca used, indiscriminately, the names: Moreno, Sanchez, Flores, and Angulo. Miguel was the patriarch of a large family of Angulos that settled in the Atotonilco el Alto area.

In the marriage of Maria Francisca and Leonardo Parada Francisca's father Nicolas uses the name Angulo Moreno.

While I was looking through the marriage records of Lagos a man named Francisco Sanchez Moreno is a testigo in some of the marriages. I believe he was the progeny of the marriage of a Francisco Sanchez and Ana Tavera that took place in Lagos 27 Sep 1620 due to his disaperance from the records around the late 1600's and the death record of a Francisco Sanchez Tavera (Bachiller) that gives his death as 3 April 1698 in Lagos de Moreno. The marriage record of Francisco and Ana only shows the names of the two. I believe Francisco Sanchez and Ana Tevera to be the grandparents of Nicolas but do not have records to prove it yet.

I have also seen in Lagos records reference to an Andres Sanchez who was the owner of El Labor de San Antonio or Hacienda San Antonio before Carlos de Alcala was its owner in the first half of the 1600's. Carlos was the grandfather of a number of Alcala's who were the godparents of the children of Nicolas and Maria. It may be a possibility that Andres Sanchez and Francisco Sanchez were related.

Also the baptismal godparents of Nicolas and Maria's children seem interesting to note, not sure how much it can help find their origins however.

Godfather of Luisa Sanchez: Estaban de Anda Altamirano y Moreno, the son of Esteban de Anda Saenz de Viduarre and his first wife Josefa Moreno de Ortega.

Godmother of Juana Quiteria Sanchez: Francisca Xaviera de Anda y Moreno, sister of Esteban and wife of Alonso III Moreno de Ortega.
Godfather of Juana: Manuel Alcala Hurtado de Mendoza brother-in-law of Esteban de Anda and son of Lucas Alcala y Garcia de Lara and Maria Guerra Valdes Gallardo (sister of Lorenzo)

Godfather of Miguel Sanchez: Miguel de Alcala Hurtado de Mendoza, brother of Manuel.

Godfather of Jose Sanchez Moreno: Bernardo Rodriguez de Portugal son of Alferez of Lagos Francisco Rodriguez and Ana Gomez de Portugal.

Godfather of Ana Maria Sanchez: Antonio Landeros, son of Agustin Landeros and Juana Gonzalez de Laris (Rubalcava) who was married to Clara Rodriguez de Portugal widow of Lorenzo Guerra Valdez Gallardo owner of Los Sauces and the sister of Bernardo Rodriguez Portugal.

Godparents of Maria Guadalupe Sanchez: Juan de Villalobos Campo and Antonia Petra Galvan de Rojas.

Once again thanks for your time and help and to everyone at Nuestros Ranchos for fantastic resources it offers to all of us. Thanks!

Regards,
Richard Ibarra

Comment

Richard,

That's great work you have done in your investigation.

Juan de Villalobos Campo and Antonia Petra Galvan de Rojas were my ancestors. Four of their children married into the Moreno de Ortega family. Nicolás Sánchez Moreno is probably related to the Moreno de Ortega family based on what you have posted.

The first Esteban de Anda Altamirano was the original owner of San Antonio de los Sauces according to a book by Mario Gómez Mata cronista de Lagos de Moreno. He was the grandfather of Esteban de Anda Altamirano y Sáenz de Vidaurre who married Josefa Moreno de Ortega y González de Hermosillo. I don't know if there was another San Antonio at the time.

The Moreno de Ortega family also married into the Gómez de Portugal and Rodríguez de Portugal family. They also married into the Ortiz de Parada family a few times. The Parada family you are talking about probably descend from Sebastián de Parada and María Ortíz de Saavedra which who gave their descendants the Ortiz de Parada compounded surname.

Some of the families mentioned had relatives in Guanajuato in the towns of San Felipe, San Pedro Piedra Gorda (Ciudad Manuel Doblado), León, and San Francisco del Rincón.

Sánchez could come from Sánchez de Porras and Flores could come from Flores de la Torre (Flores a la Torre).

I wish I could be of more help. Maybe someone else can help more.

Hello,

Thanks again for the info. I finally found the informacion matrimonial for Nicolas Sanchez Moreno and Maria Flores. Here is a link to the page: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18576-8384-92?cc=1874591&wc=…

It says Nicolas was the son of "padres no conocidos" so maybe he was adopted by the Sanchez Morenos, or was an illegitimate son of a woman of the Sanchez Moreno family and an unknown Angulo. The second option could explain why in the 1740's Nicolas and some of his children started going by the last name Angulo, as he may have found out who his father was. Any ideas on how to get more information on stuff like this?

Also I found a couple more members of the Sanchez Moreno family,

Onofre Sanchez Moreno m. Maria Rojas and had Onofre Bernabe Sanchez Moreno

Maria Rojas died 27 May 1703 vuida de Onofre her son was her Alvacea
and Onofre Bernabe died 27 May 1713 leaving Br. Jacinto Gonzalez de Laris as his Alvacea

Maria Flores was the daughter of Nicolas Flores and Petronila Ponce, originally from Teocaltiche but had been staying with her aunt Josefa Moya married to Simon Perez in Lagos- thats how she met Nicolas Sanchez. I found the Marriage of Nicolas Flores and Petronila as well in Teocaltiche, Petronila is the daughter of Diego Ponce and Josefa Moya or Chavez Fragoso and Nicolas is listed as the son of Francisco Flores and Francisca Flores both from Jalostotitlan.

Also concerning the Parada family the Sanchez family married, the informacion matrimonial of Leonardo Parada and Maria del Rosario Angulo Moreno states they were originally from the villa de Leon. Could that help find their origins as well? Heres the link to the images, this is also the first time Nicolas Sanchez uses the name Angulo.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18569-67359-86?cc=1874591&wc…

Thanks in advanced for any help.

Richard Ibarra

Comment

How did you know that the mother of Petronila Ponce used the surname Chávez Fragoso? Do you have names of the parents of Josefa Moya or Chávez Fragoso?

A sister of Petronila, Rosa María, married Manuel Chávez Fragoso y Villalobos according to the following page

http://gw5.geneanet.org/sanchiz?lang=es;p=manuel;n=chavez+fragoso+villa…

I looked up the marriage record and it states there was a dispensa

Film 299823 Matrimonios 1663-1702

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-12446-30278-40?cc=1410092&…

That dispensa has not been indexed. It's possible that dispensa is in one of the following two films

Guadalajara Matrimonios 1690-1709 Film 167980 938 pages
Guadalajara Matrimonios 1693-1712 Film 167981 394 pages

Have you found anything more on Francisco Flores and Francisca Flores?

You have been doing a great job with your investigation. If you keep looking at marriages of descendants you might find a dispensa that could help you with Nicolás Sánchez Moreno. Other documents that could help you are wills which aren't indexed for Jalisco. Only a trip to Lagos would help you there.

Hey Armando

I noticed Josefa de Moya used Chavez in the baptisms of some of her children:
Rosa Maria https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/ND1N-SQB
and
Alejandro https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/J93R-XQG

I assumed because of Rosa Maria's marriage to Manuel Chavez Fragoso Josefa was also a Chavez Fragoso and noticed there was a couple Pedro Chavez Fragoso and Jacinta Moya that seemed to line up chronologically making her Manuel's First Cousin. Of course the dispensa would be needed to prove this but its my working hypothesis until I get a chance to look through those dispensas.

I tried looking for Francisco and Francisca Flores but I couldn't find anything. I also looked through Retonos de Espana en la Nueva Galicia to see if they were in the Flores de la Torre chapter but no luck there. Seeing as they were listed as being from Jalostotitlan I'm leaning towards the idea of them being related in some way to Diego Flores de la Torre y Arias de Valdes, son of the last Encomendero and who was Alcalde Mayor of Lagos and teniente de Alcalde in Jalostotitlan, marrying- supposedly in Jalostotitlan- Teresa Gonzalez de Hermosillo y Gonzalez Florida. However I have no documentary evidence yet just hypothesis.

I've looked at as many of the Informacion Matrimoniales as I could for Nicolas Sanchez's decendents but can not find any mention of his parents yet. Wills sadly will have to wait a while if I can only view them by going to Lagos.

By the way if there are some people in Compostela Nayarit by the name Sanchez Moreno with relationships to an Angulo family there, how likely is it that they are related to the family in Lagos?

Thanks for all your help by the way I really appreciate it.

Subject: [Nuestros Ranchos] Santa Fe RR Section Houses

Do any of you have parents or grandparents raised in the section houses of
the Santa Fe RR during the 1920s to 1950s in San Bernardino or Riverside
Counties?  These would have included  San Bernardino (4th St), Verdemont,
Keenbrook, Cajon, Summit, Hesperia, Oro Grande, Hodge, Barstow, Redlands,
Menifee, Box Springs, Riverside (not an exhaustive list).  Spurred by a
reference to the section workers in the latest Somos Primos, I've decided
to use the family info I've already collected, supplement it, and write at
least one article to document this short-lived way of life.  My parents
grew up in the section houses and most of my male relatives for two
generations worked at some time for the Santa Fe.  There is little to
nothing written about life in the section houses, and photos are rare.
Unfortunately,  most families were too poor to own a camera and those that
did were not thinking of documenting their housing.

If you have any stories or photos to share, please email me.  Thanks so
much.

Linda,
I'm talking about the ones in permanent housing, primarily the cement ones
(the earlier ones were wood). I know what you are talking about, though.
When my grandfather was a foreman he was in charge of a mobile section crew
(aka chain gang). They all lived in converted box cars. As the foreman he
had a boxcar of his own, which was part living quarters, part office. At
that time and place (mid to late 40s to 60s), San Bernardino, the families
of the men lived in the section house in town (if space was available)
while the men were in "el campo", living in boxcars converted into bunk
houses, with cook and dining car.

Hello,

I have a great-grandfather who lived and worked at the Simmons Brickyard in Los Angeles County, I am not sure if that is the same RR that you are discussing here.

It is difficult to find information/pictures/etc., about the location.

I cannot find my great grandfather or his family on any census records, either (for that time period that they were there).

Comment

Kristine,
Thanks so much for introducing me to the Simon's Brick Yard http://montebellohistoricalsociety.org/mhs/Simons.html. I grew up not far from where it was and had no idea it had existed. My dad, who moved to LA in 1949, recalls the brickyard, but didn't know there was company housing on the site, too. My mom worked in a factory in the mid50s on Vail Ave, apparently near where the brickyard had been. It is unrelated to the RR Section Houses but may have had some things in common with them. I would guess that, being in the city, the homes in Simon had electricity, which the RR section housing largely did not.

Thanks again.

Hello,

I never knew they existed either, prior to finding the information on my GGrandfather's WWI Draft Registration Card.

I still have not found much information on his stay there, the search goes on.

Hope you find out more info on the RR section housing that you are looking for.

Is it one person?

If so that would be Josepha Antonia. If it is two separate people "Jph." is the abbreviation for Joseph (it would Josepha if it was Jpha.) and "Antta." is the abbreviation for Antonia.

Hope this helps!

yes thank you this is a male .. and there is perhaps a small " o " elevated after the Antt. so yes Antnonio sounds correct.. I have never seen Jph.before as an entry so this church entry style is unfamiliar to me . this is in Tepetongo In 1805.

I wrote an article many years ago titled NOTES ON THE MONTES VIGIL FAMILY OF ZACATECAS for Herencia Journal, which is for the Hispanic Genealogical Research Center of New Mexico. It has a lot of entries from the civil archives in Zacatecas for the Vigil family.

So far, not much is known about the ancestry of Catalina de Herrera Cantillana, except she came from Spain.

I will see if a pasajero entry has been found for her. Francisco's mother may never be known, as in two wills, his father Juan Montes Vigil never gave his mother's name.

The Jimenez de Ancizo family has yet to be researched, to my knowledge. But I am continuing my search for these ancestors, as are many other dedicated researchers and genealogists.

Comment

Hi Tricia,

I'm sorry I can't offer any information on the Vigil family from Zacatecas
but I do have a question for you. It seems that several of the Francisco
Vigil's had this as a surname - Montes Vigil De Santillana

When I go to the LDS new.familysearch.org site and follow the various links
going back I don't see the person who was a
parent/grandparent/greatgrandparent who wore the Santillana surname. Do you
know how Santillana was introduced to this line of Montes Vigil de
Santillana's???

Main reason I'm asking is that my Balthasar Vigil is referred to as
Balthasar Vigil Antillana in one record and since Antillana is so rare I
have to think it is Santillana and that maybe there is a connection here:

Jan.28, 1780 Juana Nepomucena Carvajal, HL Dionicio Carvajal y Juana Vargas
con Jose Antonio Vigil Antillana, HL Barltasar Vigil Antillana y Juana
Lugarda Tafoya

Do you think that the name comes from the "Herrera Cantillana" you mention
in your email. Really stretching here but Balthasar's wife Lugarda Tafoya's
parents are Francisco Tafoya and Juana de Herrera, hmm, wonder if he married
a Herrera that might be related to your Herrera Catillana family?

Thanks for any help,

Joseph

Joseph and Tricia:

This is my grandmother´s line she was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1929, but was grew up in the San Francisco/Oakland area during the 40-50s. She descends from Francisco Montes de Vigil son of Capt. Francisco Montes de Vigil and María Jiménez de Ancizo, the couple before mentioned. Through their son, Francisco Montes y Vigil who married Lorenza Quintana de Molina Medina married on 28 June 1744 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Through sucession, this line would later marry into Lucero de Godoy, Romero and Chávez y Durán, whom my grandmother descends.

Everyone probably already knows the following, but it never gets too old, One word of caution with FamilySearch Pedigree Resource File, never take it to be the last deciding voice. It seems people like to publish facts without supporting records on certain ocassions. I have found on numerous ocasions errors to these so-called genealogies in which I had to correct and even reconstruct entire genealogical trees. Always support facts with records, the Montes y Vigil famiy is rich in records, familysearch, microfilm, PARES, and various instituitions in Mexico City, Valladolid, Madrid and so on. Various authors have also published numerous articles and books on the New Mexico families that can be of use. I have not followed this line with much attention, but every now and then I get a spark of interest.

The house of Santillana is definately linked to this family, for Montes de Vigil were from Asturias and Santillana was established in this principality and in the nearby Cantabria area at the end of XIV century. From here the family would spread over the Iberian peninsula and the New World.

For example, the 1611 crossing of Juan Montes de Vigil to the new world is compromised of 24 pages, a certain portion was extracted to appear in the search results. How many have read all 24 pages? I know I have finished reading all 24. Through this and other important records, especially the Ejuecutorias de Hidalguía (Proof of Nobility) the earliest we find registered is 24 Nov 1587 in Valladolid, where Pedro Montes Vigil executes before the Chancillery. A quick overview would easily set the Vigil family a family of the Asturian nobility. The name is a bit older than we think it appears somewhere at the end of XV and XVI centuries. Someone compounded this surname, but who? From what I have researched Vigil is the main trunk of the family. It splits into three branches, Montes Vigil, Vigil and de Vigil Quinoñes. Montes Vigil was probably a result of a female member of the Vigil family marrying a man of "lower status" as to hidalguía, and therefore was to continue to carry on the Vigil surname, a very common trait during this period of research and especially place.

If we were to study the ejecutorias de Hidalguía we would find out that Juan Montes de Vigil married Catalina de Santillana Herrera, (Catalina has nothing to do with Vigil) researchers have attached the Vigil to her. I have not identified her parents, since the ejecutoria only applies to the male line, this is her husband. Juan II would be son of Juan Montes de Vigil and María de Vigil. Juan would be grandson of Lucas Montes de Vigil and Isabel de Vigil and Francisco de Vigil and Catalina de Arguelles y Quinoñes, this last couple being the founders of the surname Vigil y Quinoñes. If we notice, Juan Montes de Vigil has three lines of Vigil, which is very common in this period in Cantabria-Asturias. These families were very old and reknown, mostly descendants of the original Christian warriors from the VIII-X centuries.

The Vigil family was very well established since the XV century, they had proved their lineage, their hidalguía (which is different from those who inherit titles), hidalgos are nobles by birth through their paternal line, on the contrary those titled must depend on titles of their ancestors. They held various postitions in government, notably regidor del consejo, which was strictly for hijosdalgos during the XVI-XVIII centuries. Many descendants entered into various orders of knighthood, Santiago, Calatrava, etc. There is much research to do with this family.

Genealogy is not just a hobby, though it may start out as one. It is a rigorous inestigation process, reports to be complied, records to be archived, books to be purchased, read, analyzed and reported. Deductions based on reason, facts, and many other types of records: wills, land grants, journals, passages, limpeza de sangre, ejecutoria de higalguía, probanza de nobleza. Baptismal, Marriages and Deaths from the Catholic Church are the basic, and very least of records. There are many archives to be accessed. In my family´s home we have an entire room dedicated to genealogy, our archive is enormous, last time I counted it had at least 50 boxes worth of records, each registered and filed, each box with at least 1200 records of some sort. My grandfather initialized this great work. I am now obtaining digitzalied records of everything to store in case of a distaster. For us Latter-day Saints genealogy is much more. It truly is a work and requires dedication and study and research. But it´s very fulfilling to know who we are and where we come from and where were going.

These are my few lines, now that I have seen I have prolonged this reponse, I hope this helps in some way.

Femat and Femá with Romo de Vivar

Hello

I came across this information today:

The name Femá is also written as Femat, judging from two documents:

1. Marriage dispensa for Don Fernando Femá and Dona Teodora Romo de Vivar,
Mexico, Jalisco, Catholic...Church Records, 1590-1995
Guadalajara
Diócesis de Guadalajara
Matrimonios 1735-1819
Image 45 of 278

This doc has a tree for Monica Romo de Vivar and two of her sons and their sons and their son/daughter (who wish to marry). One son of Monica has the name Fermin Femá and the other is given as Pedro Romo de Vivar.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18402-92423-90?cc=1874591&wc…

2. The Información Matrimonial for Fermín Antonio Femat and
Mónica Romo de Vivar (dated 17/Oct/1715 in Aguascalientes, Sagrario) IMAGE 166 ON THE FOLLOWING:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-11627-22110-47?cc=1410092&…

Monica's proposed husband is named as Fermin Antonio Femat, and his father has the same name (end with a "t", no accent mark)

Dear Group,
I'm hoping there's someone out there that likes reading the old church entries.  This is an unusual request, I know; but I don't know any other way to do this.  On the pilot site, I'm researching difunciones entries for Nstra Sra De Guadalupe, Salinas Victoria, Nvo Leon 1745-1836, specifically image 140.  It's on the right, third from the bottom.  This is my 7ggrandfather, Martin De Arrambide, and I need to know if I'm reading the entry correctly.  I'm not sure about a word that comes after his name; it could indicate that my research with that line is finished in Mexico.  Also, does it say that he had a mason's burial?  What's that? I'm confused and all help would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks so much,   Alice

Hello fellow reseachers

I found a marriage dispensa recently indexed, with the following information:

Don Pedro Romo de Vivar married to Dona Lorenza Tiscareno

The index was from 10 Dec 2011, not recently, sorry for any confusion!
The year of the dispensa is 1756.

Guadalajara Dispensas?

Hi everybody,

Comments

Comment

you know you can index a collection from the guadalajara dispensas that hasn't been indexed yet(at least most of it, even if you can't decipher every single name), and submit it to her. she will most likely reply within a week(or less if you're lucky).

Comment

Abram,

The following don't show up as being worked on currently at http://www.guadalajaradispensas.com/p/news-coming-soon.html

Matrimonios 1725-1726 film 167994
Matrimonios 1725-1726 film 168368
Matrimonios 1727-1729 film 168370
Matrimonios 1728 film 167995
Matrimonios 1728 film 167996
Matrimonios 1730 film 167997
Matrimonios 1730 film 167998
Matrimonios 1731-1732 film 168116

You could start indexing these as Katy said. Try and be as accurate as possible with the names and location. Adding the names of the parents is especially helpful to people as well as the page number that the genealogical information is located and if possible the surname that they share.

You have bad luck in that most of your posts aren't emailed to the group. It's because of a glitch with the server that still hasn't been corrected.

I am surprised Claudia never got back with you on indexing dispensas.

I don't think there is a project for indexing documents post 1900 for Nochistlán. Joseph Puentes might know.

You can go to https://www.familysearch.org/volunteer/indexing to see if there is a project you are interested in.

To reiterate, I think an index of the Información Matrimonial records of Nochistlán would be very helpful to a lot of people.

Hi. My name is Bernie Chavez.I am researching My familywhich are from the
area around Guadalajara, Jalisco. Specifically, my great-grandfather,
Bernardino Chavez and his parents, Cenofio Chavez and Cristina (Magallanes)
Chavez all lived in this area.
Bernardino was, according to family lore, cristened In May of 1860 in the
Parroquia de San Jose de Analco in Guadalajara. Not much else is known
about his life in Mexico apart from that. We do know that he crossed the
border around the time of the revolution, 1909 or 1910.
My great grandmother, Luz (Mendoza) Chavez was born in or around 1891 to
Eleno and Cruzita Mendoza. again, not much is known of her, either. We are
sure that she lived in Jalisco, but most family stories about her are not
clear where in the state.
I would greatly appreciate any help you have to offer.

The first link, is to the christening record for Bernardino Chavez (your great-grandfather).

The second link, is to the marriage record of your great-great-grandparents).

The third link, is to the christening record for Maria Sebera Chavez, a sister to your great-great-grandfather

With these three records, you should be able to trace your family back to your great-great-great-great-grandparents.

I hope that this is of help to you. And if you have any questions feel free to ask.

thanks,

Bernie...Welcome to the group.

I found a marriage record for Cenobio Chavez and Cristina Magallanas
29 December 1858 - in Guadalajara - San Jose de Analco -film M603868

They are also listed in Matrimonios 1857-1868 - from the heading of Guadalajara
then Parroquia de San Jose de Analco - Image 550 -

I am unable to decipher the names of the parents of Cenobio & Christina, who
are listed in this document hopefully, one of the primos on Nuestros Ranchos
can be of further assistance in reading the document.

Best wishes in your new journey.....

The only exception is that the year for Matrimonios is 1837-1868, film
#38630, pg.81, Record #882 and what I got from this:

*Cenobio Chavez *was 19 years old when he married. His father and mother
were *Lorenzo Chavez and Juana Gaspar*. *Cristina Magallanes *was 16 years
old originaria de Santiago ______________________. Her father and mother
were *Jesus Magallanes and Andrea Moreno.
*
Armando could probably tell you the rest which is harder to read. I hope
this helps also.

The baptism is 25 May 1860. It's in Family Search. You have to order the index C60385-9.

Hi. My name is Bernie Chavez.I am researching My familywhich are from the area around Guadalajara, Jalisco. Specifically, my great-grandfather, Bernardino Chavez and his parents, Cenofio Chavez and Cristina (Magallanes) Chavez all lived in this area.
Bernardino was, according to family lore, cristened In May of 1860 in the Parroquia de San Jose de Analco in Guadalajara. Not much else is known about his life in Mexico apart from that. We do know that he crossed the border around the time of the revolution, 1909 or 1910.
My great grandmother, Luz (Mendoza) Chavez was born in or around 1891 to Eleno and Cruzita Mendoza. again, not much is known of her, either. We are sure that she lived in Jalisco, but most family stories about her are not clear where in the state.
I would greatly appreciate any help you have to offer.
thanks,
Bernie Chavez

Welcome to our group Bernie. I'm glad to have a fellow Chavez working with us. My Chaves line is from Atoyac and Teocuitatlan de Corona in Jalisco ...
about an hour west of Guadalajara, hopefully we can make some sort of connection.

Your message speaks of family lore ... have you found his baptismal record yet?

Bernie...Welcome to the group.

I found a marriage record for Cenobio Chavez and Cristina Magallanas
29 December 1858 - in Guadalajara - San Jose de Analco -film M603868

They are also listed in Matrimonios 1857-1868 - from the heading of Guadalajara then Parroquia de San Jose de Analco - Image 550 -

I am unable to decipher the names of the parents of Cenobio & Christina, who are listed in this document hopefully, one of the primos on Nuestros Ranchos can be of further assistance in reading the document.

Best wishes in your new journey.....
Helyn

Help Reading a Dispensa

Hi there team,

I'm having such a hard time reading and understanding this dispensa so if anyone can please help thanks.=]

Hi Abram,

I understand dating back to the times of the Roman Empire women could get married as young as 14. Also, you could be in your 20's and still need the permission of your parents to get married. In the case of Pioquinto, his parents were already dead. Regarding your other post, maybe you should not try to index the Guadalajara Dispensas until you have more experience reading them, otherwise you may write down incorrect or incomplete information. You just have to keep reading until you become familiarized with the writing, spelling variations and abbreviations used.

This is what I can read in the dispensa:
Theocaltiche, January 9, 1913

Groom: Anttº Ximenes (Antonio Jiménez), legitimate son of Diego Ximenes & Cathalina de Arellanos, Españoles, neighbours of the Partido de Nochistlan.

Bride: Juana de Arze (Arce), legitimate dauther of Juan de Arze & Petrona Martines de Alarcon, deceased (only her),neighbours of this town (They also call her Petra, and these names may or not be an abbreviation of Petronila)

Lorenzo de Rubalcava, great grandfather of the groom, was the brother of Josepha Bapta (Baptista) de Rublacava, great grandmother of the bride,

Lorenzo was the father of Agueda de Rubalcava (grandmother of the groom), and Cathalina was the mother of the groom (they don't spell out the relationship between Agueda and Cathalina)

Josepha Bapta de Rublacava was the great grandmother of the bride; Joseph Martinez de Alarcon was the grandfather of the bride, and he was the father of Petra, mother of the bride (they don't spell out the relationship between Josepha and Joseph).

Nochistlán, March 11, 1796

Groom: Pioquinto García, Español, 15 years old, born and living in Puesto de Nanguè, legitimate son of Christoval Garcia and Ana Maria Lopez (both deceased).

Bride: Maria Estefana de Yslas, Española, 15 years old, born and living in Puesto de Nanguè, legitimate daughter of Josef Maria de Yslas and Juana Ma. de Quesada.

Ygancio López (maternal grandfather of the groom) and Lugarda López (paternal grandmother of the bride) were siblings.

this doucment states that they share the 3rd degeree of consanguity(aka. technical term for second cousins) this doucment also states the parents of the groom and bride.

the next page states how they are related in the 1st testigo paragraph.

pioquinto's maternal grandpa-ygnacio lopez, and estfana's paternal grandma- lugarda lopez, are silings.
