Armando,

This is amazing. I never imagined I'd make it into the 1700s and just like
that you brought me into the 1500s. This group is incredible. Would it be
alright if I emailed you later with a couple of questions?

Hello Ashlynn,

I posted most of the following in your thread at
http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/es/node/21539 but since at times the email
notifications fail for posts on sites at times I will send it in an email
with some additional info.

The parents of José Ruvalcaba were Juan Antonio Rubalcava Villalobos and
Isabel Macias married 27 May 1764 in Aguascalientes.

Film 299828

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11082-70037-48?

Juan Antonio Rubalcava Villalobos was baptized 8 Feb 1730 in Aguascalientes
and his parents were Miguel González de Rubalcava and María Villalobos y
Escoto Tovar.

The registro matrimonial and the Información Matrimonial of Miguel González
de Rubalcava and María Villalobos y Escoto Tovar are missing but the
parents of María Villalobos y Escoto Tovar are known thanks to the
following dispensa

Dispensa Film 168151 Matrimonios 1809

Pedro Merino 3o grado Antonio Arias
Alexo Merino 4o grado Antonia Arias
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18427-72602-32?

María Villalobos y Escoto Tovar was baptized 28 Feb 1694 in Aguascalientes
and her parents were Isidro de Villalobos Macías Valadez and Francisca
Gertrudis Escoto y Tovar.

Isidro de Villalobos Macías Valadez was buried 27 April 1699 in
Aguascalientes. His parents were Francisco de Villalobos y Pérez and María
Vásquez de Retamosa who married 22 May 1640 in Teocaltiche.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-19053-2891-27?

The reason we know we have the right baptism of Isidro de Villalobos Macías
Valadez is because of a dispensa that shows that he is a sibling of Antonia
de Villalobos and her registro matrimonial mentions her parents.

Dispensa - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18415-73711-18?

Since the marriage document is torn the surname of Maria Perez's father is
not seen nor the first name of her mother but we can conclude that the
surname should be Perez and the mother's surname is Madalena (Magdalena).
Therefore her parents are Cristóbal Pérez and ? Magdalena. There is a
marriage entry in the same church for a couple with these names within a
reasonable time frame for them to be the parents of María.

Ashlynn,

Esther is right, the parents are Salvador de Mendoza and Maria Delgado. That is confirmed by the marriage  record of Apolonia de Mendoza and Jose de Robalcaba who were married on 15 Jan 1806 in Encarnacion de Diaz. Here is the link: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18564-57408-10?cc=1874591&wc…

Salvador de Mendoza and Maria Lopez Delgado are my 5th Great Grandparents through Apolonia's sister Maria Guadalupe de Mendoza.  I can give you a little more information, but I dead end a generation later. Salvador de Mendoza, mestizo and Maria Lopez Delgado, Española were married on 29 May 1774 at Nuestra Señora de los Dolores in Teocaltiche. Maria Lopez Delgado is the hija natural of Esteban Lopez and Rita Delgado. Salvador de Mendoza is the legitimate son of indian chieftain don Blas de Mendoza, Cacíque and Maria de Jesus Díaz, Española.

Actually, If anyone has the parents or knows anything about don Blas de Mendoza or Maria de Jesus Díaz, that would be great. Thanks everyone.

Hi Everyone,

I should have probably mentioned that don Blas de Mendoza and Maria de Jesus Díaz would have been born sometime around 1730 in Teocaltiche or Encarnación de Díaz and married around the middle of the century. Thanks Everyone.

Christopher,
I found a Blas Mendoza, ch. 29 Oct 1720 in Jalostitlan, Jalisco, film
0279254, (1707-1722) and it mentions parents as Juan Antto. y Franca. De
Mendoza. Would this be something you are interested in?

There's a child born 8 Apr 1816 (film # 1155174) in Encarnacion de Diaz,
Jalisco named Ma. Teodora Robalcaba Mendoza and it lists not only Jose
Robalcaba an Apolonia Mendosa but also mentions maternal grandparents as:
Salvador Mendoza and Maria Delgado.

I think that might change their marriage date to an earlier time. Another
child besides those you might already have is Rafaela Rubalcaba Mendoza,
ch. 10 Sep 1817, film # 1155174.

Hope this helps.

Since the marriage document is torn the surname of Maria Perez's father is not seen nor the first name of her mother but we can conclude that the surname should be Perez and the mother's surname is Madalena (Magdalena). Therefore her parents are Cristóbal Pérez and ? Magdalena. There is a marriage entry in the same church for a couple with these names within a reasonable time frame for them to be the parents of María.

Cristóbal Pérez López and María Magdaleno Hernández married 19 Dec 1577

Wow, we are definitely related! Jesus Gomez and Ysaac Moreno were my 2nd greatgrandparents. My greatgrandfather was their child Urbano Gomez Moreno, who married Elena Curiel. They had several children, including my grandmother Maria Luisa Gomez who married Arnulfo Apodaca. My father is their son Jose Apodaca Gomez. If you still have family in Catarina, I'm sure my father knows them. From what child of Jesus Gomez and Ysaac Moreno do you descend from?

That's great. With you, I am now related to 5 nuestros ranchos members!

Saludos.

Comment

Wow...This is more than cool. We descend from Maria Gomez who married Felipe Arreola(great grandpa). They had my grandfather Poli Arreola. My mom says that Urbano Gomez Moreno died Nov 2 1948. She remembers that date because her brother was born on the same day. My grandpa Poli used to tell my mom that my uncle, who was born on the same day Urbano died, was a reincarnation of Urbano, and he was serious about it. Elena Curiel baptized my grandmother Guadalupe Govea. My mom and dad say that Elena lived a very very long life.

Comment

On our Gomez Moreno connection, I vaguely remember that my father once told me about Maria Gomez and Felipe Arreola. My father and I recently saw a photo on facebook of Aurelio Arreola, whom he calls uncle. He's related to you, right? I'm not so sure your date on Urbano Gomez's death is correct. I have his death certificate issued in Guadalajara that says he died on April 7, 1930. My father says he had a charcoal business in Guadalajara. One day, he was robbed and he got so upset that he died "de un coraje" as the family used to say. Do you know about this story? Indeed, my great grandmother Elena Curiel lived a long life. She was born in Atenguillo in 1900, and died in the year 2000, a month or two after the family celebrated her 100th birthday. Even though I was not there, I have some photos of the mass her children gave her for her 100th birthday.

By the way, if any of the moderators read this message, I remember I was told that after making a direct contact with someone else, we should continue with the message exchange through private emailing, but I wanted to leave these messages on Nuestros Ranchos, hoping that some other primo doing a site search in the future finds this and we keep expanding our family tree. Hello Gilberto.

I emailed you privately, through nuestros ranchos but I'm not sure I did it right. Your profile caught my attention because I notice that you have ancestors in Zacoalco and Santa Catarina. Several of my surnames come from this area, especifically from Santa Catarina: Apodaca, Gomez, Moreno, Cervantes, Bonal, Salazar. You can check part of my family tree in the files section and compare it with your genealogy to see if we probably have a common ancestor. I hope we can compare and share some of our research in the future.

Saludos

I registered at Nuestros Ranchos about a year ago but I just started to post a few days ago. I do have the surname Moreno thru my mothers side. My mothers maternal and paternal side also have the surname Moreno. My maternal grandfathers grandmother was Maria Ysac Moreno and her father was Esteban Moreno. Maria Isac was born in Santa Catarina. I also have the surname Gomez thru my maternal grandfather. Maria Ysac Moreno was married to a Jose Gomez. I used to frequent Santa Catarina and Zacoalco about 10 years ago. My brother, sister, father and mother still travel and stay out there. How much do you know about the towns? I will try to look for the private message. I'm just getting familiar with the website. I will keep in touch for sure.

Hi Gilberto, I noticed that we could be related. As well as Steve Apodaca (to whom i have been in contact for a long time), I research in the same area of Zacoalco and Sta Catarina, where my grand father was born and most of my/his ancestrors come from. I noticed we have some lastnames in common. Please contact me so we can compare. I`d be glad to share. My grand father was a TOSCANO, and I also have info, between my lines, the Castillo, Quiñones and Bonal. Some other lastnames I have some info like: Ramirez, Arreola, Govea.

If interested please contact me.

Hello Alessandro,
My mothers great grandfather Camilo Arriola (b. July 1838, Sta Catarina) was a Toscano thru his mother Maria Severa Toscano
(b. Nov. 1802, Sta. Catarina). Maria Severa Toscano was married to Jose Sebero Arriola Quinones (b. Nov 7, 1800, Sta. Catarina). My fathers great grandfather Jose Maria Ramirez Arriola (b. August 1856, Sta. Catarina) was married to my great great grandmother Maria Ysabel Castillo Hernandez (b. Nov 6, 1858 Sta. Catarina) who was the daughter of Ygnacio Castillo Valdes (b. Oct 15, 1818). Ygnacio Castillo was the son of Luis Antonio Castillo Bonal (b. June 11 1775, Sta Catarina) who was the son of Francisco Castillo and Lionisia(Dionisia) Bonal. Steve and I share great(x6) grandpa Francisco Bonal(1723) and he was the father of my great(x5) grandma Lionisia Bonal (b. April 1749) and his great(x...)grandma Gertrudis Aniceta Bonal (b. April 1765). Lionisia Bonal marries into the Castillo blood line and Gertrudis Bonal marries into Apodaca blood line. Steve and I share more recent last names. We share our great great grandpa Jesus Gomez and great great grandma Maria Ysac Moreno. Steve provided me with a PDF on the Bonal blood line. It is very detailed and I was able to discover where the Bonals came from and dates that I did not have. Steve was able to show me the link between Lionisia Bonal and Gertrudis Aniceta Bonal. Thanks Steve. I have traced my Ramirez ancestors to Ciudad Guzman (Zapotlan el Grande) and have hit a road block. I am also a Govea thru my grandmother Maria Guadalupe Govea Veronica and have researched the Govea's back to my great(x3)grandpa Luz Govea. My mother is an Arreola Govea and my father is a Ramirez Ramirez. It strikes me that we do not know each other considering the last names that we share. I will greatly appreciate any information that you can provide me. I am very interested in the history of Sta. Catarina so if you have any stories please feel free to share them with me. Let me know if I can email you more details on the info that I have on Ramirez, Arreola, Govea, and Castillo last names. Again, special thanks to my cousin Steve Apodaca for introducing another cousin. Welcome to the family.

Hello Steve, well guess what I found.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18698-27655-71?cc=1874591&wc…

My dads paternal great grandmother(Maria Ysabel Castillo) great grandpa Luis Antonio Castillo Bonal was baptized by Francisco Bonal and Maria Ysabel Gutierrez on 19 Jun 1775 in Zacoalco. Your great... grand parents also baptized Juan Jose Castillo Bonal 06 Feb,1779 who was Luis's brother. Their father was Francisco Castillo and their mother was Leonicia Bonal(Dionisia Bonal). Look into this and let me know what else you find. Based on your chart Gertrudis Aniceta Bonal was baptized April 17, 1765. This leads me to believe that Leonicia Bonal and Francisco Bonal were probably brothers. Luis Castillo Bonal and Maria Valdes had several sons and daughters. Mariana Castillo Valdes was one daughter that married Prudencio Valencia Anguiano. Prudencio Valencia and Mariana Castillo gave birth to a Maria Concepcion de Jesus that married into the Uribe Echauri family(Alberto Echauri Uribe). Maria Concepcion and Alberto Uribe were the parents of Ramon, Manuel and Alberto Uribe Valencia. Your grandparents would have told you stories of Ramon and Manuel Uribe Valencia. Their grandpa Prudencio Anguiano Valencia owned the Hacienda del Gancho in Sta. Catarina. Luis Castillo's son, Ygnacio Castillo Valdes(who's sister married Prudencio Anguiano Valencia) was a foreman in charge of the Hacienda. Ygnacio Castillo's daughter, Maria Ysabel Castillo, married Jose Maria Celso Ramires who was my dads great grandpa. The Valencia Uribe brothers frequented my dads grandpas house for many years. My dad has many stories about the Valencia Uribes but was unaware that he was related to them thru his Great grandmother. Now that he knows, everything makes more sense now. The Uribe Valencia family was very close to the Ramirez family, they were relatives. There's a lot more that I will be sharing. I will be asking my parents if they knew your parents and great grandparents.

Your Primo
Gil

Comment

Yes, my father told me some stories about la hacienda El Gancho and the family Uribe Valencia. What I didn't know is that they were related to the Bonal family, and thus, related to both of us. The tree that I have on nuestrosranchos is a little bit outdated and I have found additional information. I do have your ancestor Leonicia(Dionicia)Bonal in my family file as well as her husband Francisco Castillo and her children. I did a small research on this family not long ago trying to break a wall, and I can tell you with certainty, that Dionisia is the daughter of Francisco Bonal and Ysabel Gutierrez. I haven't found Dionisia's marriage documents, but I did find her baptism record. This is what I found about this family when checking lots of records.

Francisco Bonal was originally from Zacoalco. On several documents it is stated that he's the son of "padres no conocidos". His wife Ysabel Gutierrez was from Santa Cruz in Tlajomulco and they married there on 26 Feb 1748. Here's a link to their marriage record. It's the second on the second page:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18570-15443-17?cc=1874591&wc…

Well, they had several children baptized in Tlajomulco, the youngest being your direct ggggreatgrandmother Dionisia Franca. Bonal, baptized on 20 Apr 1749. Her baptism is the first on the second page here:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18684-59879-70?cc=1874591&wc…

Sometime right before 1760, the family moved to Santa Catarina and the rest of their children were born there, including my 4th great grandmother Gertrudis Aniseta Bonal, baptized on 23 Apr 1765. This is her baptism:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18697-41774-98?cc=1874591&wc…

So you see, Dionisia and Gertrudis were sisters. We also have common ancestors with Francisco Bonal and Ysabel Gutierrez. I did compile info on Dionisia's children but I did not go any further since I tried to focus on my direct ancestors. I really had no idea that we share a common ancestor with the Uribe Valencia family. I have also been told that my Apodaca ancestors also worked as capataces in the hacienda, and probably the family ties, though distant, may explain that. Last time I went to Mexico, I bought a booklet about Catarina and some of the hacienda's history. I read it with interest, but now I will appreciate that history even more. I would love to know your stories from Catarina. I will contact my dad and tell him about what you told me. By the way, do you have a facebook account?

Thank you very much, I found it. Now the problem is that I cannot read it. I can read only that Thomas Ramires was from Zapotlan and Vecino de "Zacoalco" for 4 years. I believe that Zapotlan is in Ciudad Guzman, Jalisco. The confusing part is that the name if his father appears to be Antonio Rodriguez (Annt Rodrig) and not Antonio Ramires. Thomas Ramires mother was Theresa Ramires. Is "Rodrig" a mistake by the church or is " Rodrig" short for Ramires. I'm thinking this is just a simple error by the church and did not want to cross it out to correct. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18696-12042-5?cc=1874591&wc=…

I don't understand. Was he a legitimate child? Was this a common practice? Was Thomas's last name Rodriguez or was he Thomas Rodrigo. I'm going to research the marriage between T. Rodriguez and Theresa Ramires. Hope I can find somehting. By the way, really appreciate the help.

I just found this.

I believe you might be right. I am still not able to find the birth of Thomas Rodrigues(Ramires). I will keep looking, thanks for the help.

I also tried to look for the marriage between Antonio Rodriguez and Teresa Ramires 06 July 1706 using Zapotlan el Grande but the film roll(microfiche) does not go that far back. How are you finding the correct film rolls? Well at least I know that Juan Ramires and Juana de Cardenas were Teresa's parents.

There are two abbreviations, one before the name and the other after the name.

The second one is "presbitº", presbítero, a priest.

The first one looks like Gdo. which i don't know what it means. if it were instead Ldo. it could mean "licenciado".

Thanks Victoriano!I am pretty sure its a G, since there is another G higher up on the page, but I havent been able find out what G.do could stand for...maybe "guardo"? as in the keeper (of something, like maybe the local church, since he was a prebítero?)

There are other Godoy's.
I know it is a little before your Augustin, but you never know.
Good luck.

Hello Sylvia, I too am doing a majority of my research in Jerez and Tepetongo and can tell you that Carlos Godoy is a very common name for this area. in the 1800's I found that the Godoy was dropped from a lot of the names and they just used Carlos. I have a lot of Carlos on my tree but not an Augustin. I don't think that Lugarda is a very common name for that part of Zacatecas however.

Sorry I wasn't able to offer any information on Augustin.

Sylvia I have my files posted on Rootsweb.com but will be updating later this week.  My file name is Mexico, my root person is my Father, Chet (Aniceto) Castanon. My Mother, Dolores Gutierrez's family was from Jalisco and before that from Michoacán.  You can go to  the index to search for any names you may be looking for. I have over 99 thousand names and have barely touched Tepetongo!  Do you have your files where I can see them?

Welcome to the group, prima!

I want to welcome you to the group-- I did respond to your other message about Agustin Villegas. I just wanted to let you know that we are related through this family and through the Quesadas and Banuelos, and maybe others. This also means you are related to the founder of this group, Joseph Puentes, as he is descended from the Banuelos family.

There are many of us in the group who share this genealogy; I am sure they will introduce themselves. If you would like to compare notes between our genealogical trees, just message me through the group-- I do have Mauricio and Luisa in my tree.

Hi Juan Carlos, just wondering if the de Leon is spanish for Lyon and is it possible they are related to the Lyon branch that sailed from England and settled in Roxbury Massachusetts in the 1630's. I am a descendant of that branch of the Lyon. I can trace my line back to the year 986.
Apparently the first spelling of the name was Leuoine from Normandy (France).
Later in England it was changed to "de Lyoun" and "de Lyon" and finally around 1300's just Lyon.
Good luck in your search.

I tried 20 ways with no luck. I called and spoke to the wonderful people at Family Search and they said they are having problems and are working to correct whatever is causing this. Hopefully things will be back to normal soon!

Just an update: Family Search very kindly sent me an Email stating they were still working to correct the issues on their website; but in the meantime I should use Firefox to log onto the site. I had to download Firefox; but I am now able to get onto the Family Search website.

I was going to reply saying that I have not been having any trouble with FS, in fact it's been helping me quiet a bit lately, but then I use Firefox. =)

I actually alternate browsers between Firefox and Safari.

Hope the issues get fixed for you all.

Not getting any blank pages, but some pages were not coming into focus.
Try closing the Tab and opening a new one.
I have noticed more difficulties when I forget to sign in.

Is anyone else having difficulty getting onto Familysearch.com?  For the past 2 days I get a blank white page when I try to download.  Also the search page won't search.  Am I doing something wrong? Deedra Corona

I have been trying to access the FS website for 2-3 days. I get in but the minute I try to search, I get an error message and must try again. In fact, I have tried three times today and cannot do any search at all. What is going on? I could see a slight interruption of services but 2-3 days??? Oh well, I'll keep trying---so, it isn't just you.

Do you use the Mozilla Firefox browser, that seems to work for most people. That's what I use and it works fine. If you don't, you may want to install it as your browser.

I have Mozilla Firefox and I still have problems accessing and searching on the
FS website. I was able to get in and do some searches for a while but then I
get the error messages. Perhaps, too many on the accessing the site at once????

For Deeda: Juan (not Francisco) Garcia de Alba

Hi Deedra (and others):

I believe I have solved out little mystery. Juan Garcia de Alba and Juan Francisco García de Alba are not the same person. They are brothers.

Sergio,
Wonderful work!!! I know burials are hard to come by because it is only after searching page by page. It is so nice to be part of a group whose members are willing to collaborate. This is why I absolutely love Nuestros Ranchos--for all of the great people.

Thank you,

Hi Juan

I do no think these are indexed, I went to the link and then to image 5, the firste image is the 1576 marriage of Juan Garcia and Guiomar (not certain of the last name). I put these names in the search fields with the date 1576 and they do not turn up. The writing is fairly easy to read (compared to other record I am still ploughing through from the 1580) so maybe you should still take a look...

Roy many thanks for the link, I think I can use it too.

Best Regards,
Denise

Comment

oops need to correct my previous mail. The marriage was in 1575, and when I checked it was in fact there in the index...Sorry for any confusion. The book is indexed.

Great Article/Video: The eternal search for our ancestors is reaching its end game

I stumbled across this and thought I'd share. Its a great Article and short video on the impact of DNA testing on genealogical research and its industry. Very exciting.

Hello Pauline,
Thank you for the article.  I encourage everyone to take the DNA test.  I'm glad I tested and find the results entriguing, but I don't know how to use my haplogroup R-L176.2 to further or enhance my genealogy research.   Unless more people test, I'm not sure that the family finder would do me any good.  What has the group found, is it worth the extra $200?
Thank you again,  Alice

Summary:

In the past few years, finding and charting one’s family history has become trendy because it’s also become a lot easier to get started. Companies like Ancestry.com and FamilySearch have spent the last decade or so making all of their tools, records, and data available on the internet, revolutionizing genealogical research — and significantly lowering the barrier to entry in the process. What was once a pastime for older people or professionals with disposable income is quickly becoming a more mainstream pursuit. Taking a peek into the past now requires nothing more than a decent internet connection and a laptop. DNA testing, which just a few years ago cost thousands of dollars and offered little information for genealogists, is now a growing consumer option, reaching back hundreds of years to provide undreamed of amounts of information about our ancestors.

Happy Mothers Day!
Pauline

Comment

Hi Alice,

I have taken the DNA test through Ancestry.com, and I have seen some great results in cousin matches for my husband who has also taken the test, who does not know where his family comes from since he is adopted.
I have had a little bit less luck, but finding out where my origins are, that alone is well worth the $100 I spent. That is just my opinion.
Have a good weekend.

Baptism Record from 1808 Jerez, Jerez De Garcia Salinas, Zacatecas

Hello Everyone,

i think the doucment says her paternal grandma's last name is orosco, and her maternal grandma's last name is sanchez.

Comment

Thank you for responding and confirming what I thought I could see and understand on the maternal side- the Orosco and Sanchez. I am trying to understand the paternal side, the Roman line. I can read Barnardo Roman and Ysabel (Ysavel) _____ something. It looks like Crori or Rori or possibly Ortis..???

Thank you so much!

Kristine

Comment

It's Bernardo and not Barnardo. You can't see the eye on the e because of the way the priest wrote and the thickness of the quill therefore it really looks like a c followed by an r which is where the quill goes up again. The same thing happened on the words paternos and maternos. You took this to be an a that didn't connect at the top.

The surname of Isabel (Ysavel) is definitely Ortiz. The priest has an incomplete o at the beginning, the r in those days were like x's at times like in the word fueron, the t is like the one in word maternos but smaller, the i is dotted and the last letter is an s or z written in the style of that time period.

There was no standard of writing in these days, even in English, therefore many words, names, and surnames are written various ways around the world. This also happened in the U.S., Mexico, Spain, England, and Ireland. That is why the name Isabel is spelled as Ysavel.

Armando

Comment

Armando,

I cannot thank you enough!!!

This is amazing! The handwriting is so difficult for me to read. And yes, where the quill is dipped, mixed with the priest's handwriting, it makes it a bit difficult, but fantastic to figure out!

Looking at Bernardo, I couldn't figure out if he had 2 first names or if that was "paternos" or not. But now this makes sense.

Thank you everyone for helping me.

Some of the other words I couldn't figure out as well, but the names were the ones I was of most concern here.

I now have more information to continue my search.

Thank you all again.

Software for Downloading Entire LDS Films

I recently saw software that downloads the entire Lds film to a computer. Does anyone have the information or any experience using the software ?

I would like to know if anyone has a copy of this software that I could download. I was interested in buying a 2 Terabite external hard drive and dowloading a few films to go through..

Comment

Last year I went to a conference in Saltillo and one of the speakers said his students in Utah were using a program to download entire LDS films and that so far they had no complaints from familysearch. I didn't find out which program they were using.

I watched the tutorial for this software, and I must say that I am very impressed with what 'Jon' has accomplished.

The only problem for me is that I'm not at all sure I want to download entire microfilms—hundreds of them—onto my computer; I mean, why would I want to reproduce even a part of the online FamilySearch archive? That said, it is a pretty neat trick 'Jon' has pulled off here.

There can't be copyright issues for automating something you can do manually, legally, and is publicly available. I doubt it works though.

The website is Fastfilm on Facebook.

he had been offering free downloads for the program and was issuing updates. the facebook site says it has now been closed .. i didnt read the details something about conflict with Lds. the software allows you to download the entire film for use offline.. I was conciderng buying a 2 Terabyte external hard drive to download a number of films for research..

In my opinion he could continue offering the software for downloading the files and viewable through adobe flashplayer as long as he didnt specify that it was for Family history film downloading...

I would like to see the LDS website offering this download. I have concidered contacting the Fastfilm people to find out about possible future software release...
