Arturo,
Regarding the issue of many of us not receiving posts to NR that do appear if we sign in to the forum: one thing I notice is that the same thing is happening to me from accounts of frie
Emilie,
Nobody's email is being hacked. The from email address is being changed by spammers in order to make it look like the email is from someone you know. This is called spoofing. The password to a person's email account is not needed to spoof. It is the equivalent of putting a false return address on regular mail. However, it is likely that a computer that has those email addresses had a bot or a virus installed on their computer which then steals the email addresses from the infected computer and sends out the spam. You can read more about that by googling "email spoofing".
The problem with us not getting email notifications is most likely due to a server problem. Since they do not charge us for membership to this website I believe the webmaster volunteers his time. He probably tries to fix it more often than we notice.
Armando
You may get any answer from him either.
I messaged Arturo a few weeks ago and he hasn't bother to answer me either.
Jose Carlos de Leon
I am experiencing the same problem of not receiving very many e-mails. I had posted a question about Tlaltenango a couple of days ago and didn't see any responses.
I don't want to speak for Joseph and Arturo, but I know Arturo will figure out what is going on, once he can. He's a busy man, so we'll just have to be patient until he can track down the problem. I noticed this problem as well, and for now, I've just been checking the website instead. It's not as convenient as receiving the emails, but this service is free and relies on Arturo's time, and like many busy people, he has obligations. I'm sure we will be back on track soon enough.
If anyone emails me or sends me a message through the group and I don't respond, I may not be getting your emails. I've noticed certain people's messages aren't being sent through-- who knows, this very message may get lost in the great beyond of the internet!
Just as a warning for members: if there is ever a link in a message, only open it IF you trust the writer or recognize it as a legitimate site-- too many email accounts are hacked, with the resulting Spam. When in doubt, don't click! I would not put myself at risk.
I apologize if my tone sounds curt; I don't mean it to be-- attribute it to the fact that I've been grading huge stacks of essays! :)
Rosalinda
Add me to the list. I also have been getting some weird messages that I
put in the trash. Hope all will be well soon.

Same problem here. I used to receive all new messages in my inbox, now it's only a couple. I started noticing this last time I posted a question on nuestros ranchos and I didn't see my message on my email. I got a response from another member, but I only found out until I looked at my original post on the website.

Rick, I agree. Also I receive NR posts that consist of nothing but a link. I don't open those.

I apologize to the group for the occasional messages that get through. It is
a tricky situation since those messages mainly concern people whose email
addresses get hijacked and the hijackers start sending out their SPAM to
everyone in their address books. Also another culprit is people that don't
think and allow LinkedIn to send invitations to all their email contacts.
When those situation occur I deal with them in a very forceful manner. First
thing I do is remove them from the mail lists (recently I missed one and
that caused the same persons account to send out two). After that I go in
and change the person's password. Then I wait to see if the NR group was
important enough to them to have them contact me with a question about why
they were no longer able to log in or be active on the lists.
Again I apologize but when I see those emails I try to deal with them right
away.
WHAT WOULD be helpful to me is for ALL the members of the group to act as
voluntary moderators and let me know "instantly" at
joseph@nuestrosranchos.org if you see any of the following:
1) Messages that are obvious spam and have nothing to do with genealogy
2) Messages that contain unfriendly content i.e. the beginnings of arguments
or discontent
3) Messages that are on the research list that need to move to the general
list
For that last one keep in mind that the research list is ONLY for genealogy
discussion that is directly related to Jalisco, Zacatecas, and/or
Aguascalientes. The general list allows for more flexibility and BRIEF
discussions (did I emphasize brief) outside our target area are permitted
ALONG with general discussions about DNA and other topics. The announce list
is for announcements.
Thanks for your patience and thanks for understanding that Arturo and I are
working individuals with significant outside responsibilities. We do our
best as time permits.

But what is it that caused the not sending the real messages to Nuestros Ranchos? It seems the spam ones get through, but what causes the real messages to not be sent? I would like to get all the messages from Research, General, and Announcements.

I am experiencing the same problem of not receiving very many e-mails. I had
posted a question about Tlaltenango a couple of days ago and didn't see any
responses. I thought perhaps the nature of the group had changed and people
were not as helpful as they used to be. Then, I just checked the website and
saw 4 people offered helpful comments. Thank you all who posted and I hope
the problem gets fixed. I have a lot of questions these days regarding

Subject: [Nuestros Ranchos] Help Please - Ygnacio Lopes De Lissalde y Angela Mercado
In researching the offspring of Cristobal Mercado y Angela De Thorrez (6th ggparents) I located a marriage record for their daughter Angela Mercado.
Many of the words in this document are proving to be a challenge for me. I would appreciate your help with the translation...
Catholic Church Records - Jalisco - Cuquio- San Felipe Matrimonios 1711-1762
Image 454 of 619 dated 08 Feb 1750...
Groom: Ygnacio Lopes de Lissalde, native and resident of Nochistlan, legitimate son of Joseph Lopez de Lissalde y Juana Carrillo (deceased).
Bride: Angela Mercado (the word/s after her name I can not "make-out,") Also a Spaniard, (asi mysmo espanola) native and resident of the village of Cuquio in the Pueblo de St. Judes (?), legitimate daughter of Cristobal de Mercado (deceased) and Angels de Thorrez (Torres):
Not sure what is being referenced for the individuals named...Diego Ruiz
y ? Cayetano de Robalcaba...(Witnesses ?)It doesn't say witnesses, it only says they were also present to witness the marriage.

Thank you Alicia,
This was the first time I viewed Cuquio, Jalisco records...the reference to Juana Carrillo caught my eye, thought that maybe it was a connection with you or your husband's ancestry.
The De Lissalde surname was also a first for me.
Do you have Nochistlan ancestors? If so, what surnames appear in your ancestry ?
I think I recall you saying something about Aguirre/s from Nochistlan...
Once again Thank you,
Pat

There are a number of good histories of Mexico and the Spanish conquest/colonial efforts in the New World that will likely answer your questions.
Here are two:
Michael Meyer & William Sherman, "The Course of Mexican History," 5th edition (1995).
Hugh Thomas, "The Golden Empire: Spain Charles V, and the Creation of America," (2010).
A good public library should have at least the first of these, and likely both.

Hi George, I reserved the book, "Retornos de Espana" from the Library. I could not believe how many people were signed up for it---only one available for this area! Thank you for the lead.
Also thank you for the reference of the above two books on the history of Mexico.
I will reserve from local library. Your help greatly appreciated.

It would be great if the out-of-print books like Retornos de Espagna were digitized; we would all benefit from it.

The first is a general history of Mexico; the second has a much broader focus, and covers the Spanish efforts in the Americas in general.
Here are some other histories:
The war for Mexico's west : Indians and Spaniards in New Galicia, 1524-1550
Author: Ida Altman
Publisher: Albuquerque : University of New Mexico Press, 2010.
Library availability: Stanford, UC Berkeley
The Audiencia of New Galicia in the sixteenth century : a study in Spanish colonial government.
Author: J H Parry
Publisher: Cambridge : Cambridge University Press, 1948.
Library availability: UC Berkeley, Stanford, Santa Clara University
La Conquista de la Nueva Galicia,
Author: José López-Portillo y Weber; Mexico. Departamento de Monumentos Artísticos, Arqueológicos e Históricos.
Publisher: México, Telleres gráficos de la nación, 1935.
Library availability: UC Berkeley, Stanford, Santa Clara University, San Jose State
Availability of these to the general public is likely different at the different universities. At UC Berkeley you need a library card, for the public this used to be $100 (free for alumni); for books from UC Berkeley's Bancroft library, there is no restriction, but the books must be used at the library.
These are also present in other libraries in the US and around the world, but I think these libraries are closest to you by your profile.
Ida Altman's book is still in print, and available through the usual online bookstores for less than $30. This is a description of what the book is about (from Amazon.com):
"The War for Mexico's West" examines a dramatic, complex episode in the early history of New Spain that stands as an instructive counterpoint to the much more familiar, triumphalist narrative of Spanish daring, resilience and victory embodied in the oft-told tale of the conquest of central Mexico. As Spaniards consolidated their hold over central Mexico they fanned out in several directions, first entering western Mexico - the future New Galicia - in 1524. A full-fledged expedition of conquest followed several years later. Among the loosely organized, ethnically and linguistically diverse societies of New Galicia, however, neither the Spaniards' usual stratagems of conquest nor their attempts to settle and impose their institutions met with much success. An uprising against Spanish rule, today known as the Mixton war, erupted in 1540, attracting thousands of people from many different indigenous communities and bringing Spanish failure in the region into sharp relief. Set within the context of the complex politics of early New Spain in which such prominent figures as Hernando Cortes, Nuno de Guzman, Pedro de Alvarado, Francisco Vazquez de Coronado and don Antonio de Mendoza vied to fulfill their ambitions in the west and incorporating accounts and testimony reflecting indigenous perspectives, Altman's treatment of the prolonged conquest of New Galicia provides the first full-length account in English of these little-known events and their consequences for Indians and Spaniards.
There are likely books more focused on immigration into Mexico, and the policies of the Crown that governed who was permitted to go. Finding copies of these might be a challenge due to their specialized topics. I would also expect there are probably more written in Spanish than in English.

Might anyone have any additional information on my ancestor Maria Gutierres De Hermosillo who married Nicolas De Quesada on 08 Feb 1717 in Nochistlan Zac.
Hello Researchers,
Last night I tried to review the following microfilm: Tlaltenango de Sanchez Roman, Zacatecas, Matrimonios 1626-1723.
Alice just wanted to share something I do when reading a record that's unfamiliar or hard to read. I skip every 5 pages until the handwriting starts making sense and I start noticing similarities in wording and style, it's helped me a lot.. just sharing..

Subject: [Nuestros Ranchos] Tlaltenango Records
Hello Researchers,
Last night I tried to review the following microfilm: Tlaltenango de Sanchez Roman, Zacatecas, Matrimonios 1626-1723. I am disappointed in that the handwriting is almost illegible for the late 1620's (I don't know about the rest of the microfilm because I did not get far). Do these entries appear on the IGI? And are there any transcriptions or translations available of the records?
Thank you so much,
Alice
It is very difficult to read. Ancestry.com used to offer tips on how to read Spanish old-style writing (maybe they still do). I just look/scan at the important parts of the entry and with experience, you begin to recognize the words. Remember that it was customary then to use a lot of abbreviations of names and used variations of spelling (such as local customs.
WHAT TO BE ALERT TO: Expect many variations of name spellings.
"b" can be "v", i.e. Baldez for Valdez, Vanuelos for Banuelos, Vorrego for Borrego, Chabes for Chavez
"s" can be "c" or a “z“, i.e. Senteno, Centeno, Zenteno or Cilla for Silla
“j” can be “x”, Jimenez, Ximenez, Jaime Xaime, Javier, Xavier
“r” can be “rr”, Carrillo, Carillo, Cariyo,
“t’” is written the same height as the other letters and can be mistaken for an “r” or “c”
“y” is often a “ll” or even an “i“, i.e. Ayala, Allala, Mayorga, Maiorga, Montoya, Montolla
in many parishes the local custom uses the “ph” for “f” i.e., Phelipe for Felipe or Josepha for Josefa
sometimes the "h" is dropped off a name altogether. i.e. Haro, Aro, Holguin, Olguin, Hernandez, Ernandes, etc. OR the “h” is added where you don’t expect it. i.e. Hortis for Ortis or Hortega for Ortega.
Expect many variations of abbreviations, including the same names.
i.e. Hernd. for Hernandez,
Antto. for Antonio,
F.co or Franco. for Francisco.
Ma. for Maria
Gonz. for Gonzalez
Jn. for Juan
Xptabl for Cristobal
a “cross sign” for the surname “Cruz” or “Cristobal”
Jose Carlos de Leon
These early Zacatecas records are a real challenge!
The IGI is searchable from the Family Search website, unfortunately Tlaltenango marriages are available only from 1705, although the earlier ones have apparently been extracted according to the Parish Register index.
Joseph's guidance is very useful, but it will take some time to get used to the handwriting.
The more time you spend with these records, the better you will be able to discern what is written.

Try the book Familias Antiguas de Tlaltenango by Arturo Ramos, It has all the marriages 1600's.
I found the marriage record for this couple and it seems to have a lot of information. I can make out the parents of couple and their ages.
Hello Juanita,
As Armando stated there are no other names than the married couple and their parents. Again, the phrase you were wondering about just meant they were married in front of the church. What I have found to be helpful when I don't quite understand the phrases or terminology of the record I'm researching, is to look at some of the other records before and after the one I'm interested in. Sometimes they're a little clearer and you may either read them a bit easier or you will see that they are using the same phrases which just means it some what of a "form" with the same information, just the names change.
Hope that helps,
Barbara
Thank you Barbara. I will definitely try that. :)
Juanita Henniger
What you think says infante Eliza is actually "In facie ecclesiae" which is a Latin term for "in front of the church". http://www.somosprimos.com/spanishterms/spanishterms.htm
The grandparents are not mentioned.
I hope this helps.

Thank you Armando. I actually have these resources on my favorites bar, but sometime I'm totally brain dead and forgetful. I appreciate the link and will give it refresher. Thanks again.
I have a record I can't read at all. I'm thinking is for Maria Placida Valdes Hernandez but I'm having trouble reading the writing.

Hola a todos
Hace poco descubrí nuevos datos sobre mi familia de los Altos, específicamente de Tepatitlán.
Juanita, I just saw your response. Am I still on time to give you a couple of names to search? May I send you an email? Thanks a lot!
Sure you can email me. Unfortuantely due too some problems with my gps I wasted quite a bit of time today and did not make to the library before it closed. If you want to send the names that will be fine. I will try to make it on Sunday.
Best,
Juanita Henniger
Hi Juanita,
These are the names I would really appreciate you to give a look on Nochistlan's book. I am researching the parents of:
Diego Perez de Frias, married to Catalina de Islas.
Diego Macias Valadez, married to Tomasa (Fragoso) de Chavez.
Luis Gonzalez Dominguez, married to Maria Delgadillo.
Lucas Contreras, married to Juana Macias Valadez
Manuel (Fernandez Cordero) married to Elvira de Ulloa.
Thank you very much in advance.
Alejandro
Hi Alejandro,
I hope you received my email that I sent in October. Anyway, just wanted to touch bases with you and let you know that I was able to have my local public library borrow the book from another library. I'm going to pick the book up tomorrow, so I will do a search for your relatives.
Juanita Henniger
Thank you very much for your answer. As a matter of fact I am sure that book is not available for sale anymore. I've hears there are some public libraries where we could find it, but I havent had any luck. The other subject I mentioned in the post is about the Gonzalez Dominguez family.
Best Regards
I saw in the link that I gave you that book is available in Allen County Public library that is located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. If you don't find the book let me know. I live in Ohio and will be going through Fort Wayne in a couple of weeks on my way to Valparaiso University to attend a seminar for work. I can email the reference librarian and see if the book is available for check out through inter library loan. If the book isn't available for checkout then on my through Fort Wayne I'd be glad to stop by and go through the book for you.
Juanita Henniger
Is there anything or anyone in particular you are looking for? I have the book.
Let me know if I can help you and would gladly do a lookup for anyone who needs it.
Alicia,

Hello Alicia and Juanita
Thank you so much. This time I am researching about two lines.
The Gonzalez Dominguez family. I know that there is an entire chapter for the descendants of Bernardo Gonzalez Dominguez and Florencia Yanez. I am trying to connect my line to them. There is a Luis Gonzalez Dominguez married to Ana Rodriguez and want to know if they had a son also named Luis Gonzalez, married to Maria Delgadillo. Their daughter Ana Gonzalez is my ancestor.
The other line is Maria Rubio married to Joseph Cordero about 1680. I think she could be part of the Gonzalez Rubio family.
Thank you so much again. I am a newbie on Altos genealogy but have plenty of information on Nuevo Leon, Coahuila and Tamaulipas. If someday you need anything please let me know.
Alejandro.
Alejandro
Did you get the information you were looking for? I will traveling through Fort Wayne tomorrow. Let me know if you still need me look of that information for you.

Hi Alicia,
My family was in Tepatitlan in the early 1700's. Is there anything in your book that can tell me the ancestry of Joaquin Esteban Romero y Chavez and his wife Antonia Gomez Hurtado de Mendoza? All their children were born in Tepatitlan as were their descendants down to my father, Ramon Romero. I haven't been able to find where Joaquin and Antonia came from and when and who their ancestors were.
Thank you for any help you may be able to give me.

Juanita, that is so kind of you. I live in Mexico so I think its going to be really hard to find a copy but I'll send a couple of names and maybe if you have time you could help me looking through it.
Thanks again and warmest regards.
You are welcome.

Hello,
I apologize if I misunderstood your request, but I believe you are trying to find a book on Nochistian. WorldCat can be very helpful in locating books in public libraries. You might be able to get your local library to get an inter library loan for you. I found this on World cat. oops, i made a mistake. the calderas in my tree married some siblings of my ancestors. so i don't have a caldera ancestor, but some of my distant relatives might.
i just found recently that i'm a descendant of miguel's sister maria cid caldera though my maternal grandma's side of the family
Ed, I have 4 Caldera ancestors even though 2 go to the same ancestors, Jose Antonio del Carmel Caldera (abt 1735) and Ana de la Trinidad Garcia and also Jose Andres Caldera (abt 1720) and Catarina Gertrudis de la Cueva. I also have Leonarda Caldera (abt 1710) and Francisco Reveles but have not been able to find anything on them. so I also have been trying to link them since they are listed as Espanol even though we know they were Mestiso's. Susan Leniski has submitted her work to Nuestrosranchos and what I have comes mostly from her research.
Like you I did purchase and read the Powell book.
I don't read Spanish well but Mr. Cabral did try to help me but the language barrier was too great since he speaks no English. I hope you are able to uncover something that helps me link my Caldera ancestors together.

Subject: [Nuestros Ranchos] Miguel Caldera and Cabral (Salvador Cabral author)
I have been researching the Jerez area for some time. As I have found in many parts of my family, the intermarriage between families is breath-taking and predictable. For the longest time I had a brick wall in one line but recently found it in Jerez, where I should have looked before. An old document suggested that Antonio Villegas married Barbara Cablar, but it turns out it was a "typo" by the priest; it should have been Barbara Cabral. Once I realized the mistake, with many other supporting documents, the Barbara Cabral (born c. 1745 in Jerez) link takes me back to Domingo Cabral, I believe, courtesy of Nuestros Ranchos member Salvador Cabral, see http://jerez-zacatecas.galeon.com/archivo/genealogia/cabral/archivo/cab… and http://jerez-zacatecas.galeon.com/archivo/genealogia/cabral/archivo/cab….
Furthermore in the course of reading the above links, Salvador offers the following with respect to the apparent connection between the famous Miguel Caldera, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miguel_Caldera or in Spanish http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miguel_Caldera, and Domingo Cabral in the link here, http://jerez-zacatecas.galeon.com/archivo/genealogia/cabral/archivo/cab…. I have read Powell's book on Miguel Caldera, see http://www.amazon.com/Mexicos-Miguel-Caldera-Americas-1548-1597/dp/0816…, and Powell specifically does not mention many Miguel Caldera direct family members since Miguel did marry. Powell does discuss Miguel's niece, illegitimate daughter Isabel, and subsequent marriages of these two.
My question is what is the documentation in the link, http://jerez-zacatecas.galeon.com/archivo/genealogia/cabral/archivo/cab…, where the "extended" Caldera family is discussed? I offer this question not as an argument but simply as an attempt for clarification. Miguel Caldera was a very important figure in the Nuestros Ranchos area. I would have emailed Salvador Cabral directly but I do not have his email address. Furthermore, I think Miguel Caldera discussions are probably interesting for this group.
By the way, I for one am grateful Salvador Cabral is a member of this group.
Thanks,
Ed Serros
Thanks, Linda. I read Spanish moderately well so I will continue to search and will let you know if I find more about the Cabral family in Spanish sources.
I do have a "typo" of my own in my opening remarks. It should read that Miguel Caldera (b. 1548) never married.
After reading the Powell book on Miguel Caldera I was trying to make the link between my de la Torre ancestors and Miguel since Miguel's illegitimate (and only) daughter married Juan de la Torre. However, as I thought about it more given all the intermarriages, I entertained the possibility that I might have a number of ancestral lines that go back to Miguel: Cabral, de la Torre, de Olague, Muñoz, etc. I seemingly can't investigate one line without finding another interconnected family in the same circle, so to speak. We'll see what turns out. I had the same issues with my de los Santos Coy and de la Garza Falcon family lines---they all wound up back to the same one or two families in Saltillo and Monterrey, ~1600. By the way, this latter Saltillo/Monterrey (de los Santos Coy, de la Garza Falcon) crowd found its way down to Valparaiso/Huejuquilla el Alto/Jerez crowd ~1753, injecting their blood lines to those already in the area.
Ed
Im trying to find these individuals parents as well but i just can't seem to find them either they are form nochistlan zacatecas i descend from their son Jose Del Refugio Jauregui he married Maria Enc
You might already have this information but in case you don't, here it is.
So this is the wedding date for your ancestors, Refugio Jauregui and Maria Encarnacion Losano, 18 Sept, 1851: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JZXF-4MP
This is the marriage record for Jose Refugio Jaurequi and Maria Encarnacion Losano, bottom right hand corner from El Salto. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-15191-45194-11?cc=1410092&wc…
This was his second marriage, his first was to Maria Victoriana Mejia. This marriage records shows that there was a dispensation for the marriage of Jose Refugio Jauregui and Maria Encarnacion Losano. You may want to check on the marriage dispensation and it may have additional information as to the origins of the parents of the bride and the groom.

Where can i find this marriage dispensation. So you mean if i get to the marriage dispensation i can find the parents of Pioquinto Jauregui and Maria Dolores Yanes.
No. The dispensation will give the ancestors of someone else he has an
afinity with. That is different from consanguinity.

Armando,
I have gathered lots of information on this individual Jose Del Refugio Jauregui.
He was married three times first marriage with Maria Casimira Perez on November 26 1882 they had approx 9 kids all born in Nochistlan.Second marriage was with Maria Victoriana Meji on May 6 1837 in Nochistlan and they had around 8 children.Last wife which whom i descend from Maria Encarnacion Lozano married on september 18 1851 in Nochistlan. Unfortunately all these documents did not help locate Jose Del Refugios grandparents what can I do next Armando?
Abram,
The next step is to find all of the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, of Pioquinto Jáuregui, and their marriages to see if there is a mention of a dispensa. If there is then you can try and find the ancestors of the spouse. This might give you at least a sibling of Pioquinto which could lead to his parents.
You should also keep your Geneanet.org tree updated. I might be able to find something if you do that with links to the each document you find. You can email me directly once you update it.
Armando
Here is an example - Francisco Borja Gómez had a dispensa de cuarto grado de afinidad for his marriage on 25 de agosto 1801 to María Juliana de los Dolores Jáuregui Yañez https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-15186-10456-90?cc=1410092&wc… who was probably related to the first wife of Francisco Borja, María Josefa Dominga Cervantes Ulloa the daughter of José Julián Cervantes & Barbara de Ulloa. Now you have to find the grandparents of María Josefa Dominga Cervantes Ulloa or the dispensa. Neither task is easy, but finding the dispensa is most likely harder.
Armando
Armando,
Mission accomplished I luckily found Maria Josefas grandparents
Paterno:Christobal Servantes Y Dona Maria Felipa(didn't mention her last name)
Materno:Luis De Ulloa Y Rosa Delgadillo.
What is the document you are basing that info on? Always provide sources when giving such information. Always cite the source in your online tree also. Have you updated Geneanet?
If your source is good then you also have to find the great-grandparents (bisabuelos) and then the tatarabuelos of María Josefa Dominga Cervantes Ulloa. Her tatarabuelos should also be the tatarabuelos of María Juliana de los Dolores Jáuregui Yañez which would be the bisabuelos of Pioquinto Jáuregui or María Dolores Yañez. Then I'll let you know the next steps after that.
I am not getting emails from Nuestros Ranchos because of trouble with the website. When you post here email me directly if you would like me to see the posts sooner than I normally would see them.
Armando
Armando,
I got this info from the baptism of Antonio Felipe son of Joseph Servantes & Dona Maria Barvara Ulloa

I have not updated my geneat but now that you i asked i shall.
Alrighty i guess i have a lot of work to get done here well worth it.
Armando,
I really failed at finding Maria Josphas tataraabuelos.Did not find anything; is there anything else i can do to find Pioquintos parents?
I did find Pioquintos wife Maria Dolores Yanez ancestors all the way to Gonzalo Yanez Del Monte.
Who are the parents and grandparents of María Dolores Yañez and which documents provide that proof?
Armando
Armando,
Parents
Father:Bernardo Yanez
Mother:Maria Frutosa Delgadillo
Grandparents
Paternal
Grandfather:Jospeh Yanez
Grandmother:Antonia Anriso
Maternal
Granfather:Ygnacio Delgadillo
Grandmother:Josepha Ballin
Great Grand Parents
Paternal
Ggrandfather:Juan Yanez Del Monte
Ggrandmother:Ursula Peres De Frias
Maternal
Grandfather:Cristoval Delgadillo
Ggrandmother:Francisca Gil De Sotomayor
I'll post up my sources once I find my note book where all that info is located.Since i couldn't find Maria Josephas Ggrandparents and tatara abuelos what is my next option?
It is important to differentiate between afinidad and consanguinidad when
it comes to dispensas. The dispensa was for afinidad. This most likely
means the bride, María Encarnación Lozano, was related to the first wife,
María Victoriana Mejia. He may be able to find their blood relationship
through the birth and marriage records available instead of having to go
search for the dispensa.

Ever since I was a kid, I have always been given this food to eat which is called, "Gorda"
To me, it looks like what folks from Jalpa, Zac refer to as a "gordita." The fillings varied, from only lard, to beans + lettuce + cheese and some kind of meat (and of course home-made chile!). I'm not sure of its origins, but remember that corn (and hence tortillas) is a native plant so Gordas/Gorditas probably originated in Mexico. As for Atole Blanco, we never added the "blanco" because that was the only type we ever had.
Both are pretty common in East LA and other parts of Southern California.
I've seen slight variations on these, such as the "sopes" (Gorditas) and "champurrado" (atole).
Perhaps someone knows a "next step" and can help me continue to build a
family tree. I am looking for an ancestor, "Manuel Carrillo Buezo" born
sometime in the late 1700's.
I have this family in my records but they sometimes go by Ruiz so it's been confusing to say the least. this is the first record I have for that line:
My files are on Rootsweb.com and my file name is Mexico, I hope this helps you a bit.
My maternal line from the Tamazula area are Gutierrez/Mendez but at this point I'm not sure how your line connects with mine but I only record the records of my family and the lines they married into.
My mother was Dolores Gutierrez 19 Sept 1924, you can go to pedigree in text form to see my maternal line.

Perhaps someone knows a "next step" and can help me continue to build a
family tree. I am looking for an ancestor, "Manuel Carrillo Buezo" born
sometime in the late 1700's. He is my great, great, great grandfather. He
had three children (perhaps more and I have yet to find them), with two
born in 1818 and 1826 and the third birth unknown at this time. This leads
me to assume his birth in the late 18th century. At this time I have been
going through the church records of Tamazula de Gordiano, Jalisco and not
finding his baptism yet. It is family lore that the first Carrillo in our
family arrived in Tamazula from Burgos, Spain. I do not know how true that
is. But if there is no record of Manuel Carrillo in the Tamazula church
records, then he must have come from some other region of Mexico or from
Spain. *What would be the next step if that is the direction I must
follow?* His
wife, "Lugarda Ochoa Moxic" (probably Moxica) has yet to be looked for at
this time and her information may be very useful in this search should I
find her records. ****
** **
I also have found that some records are unreadable because the ink has
faded so badly. I would hate to think that my ancestor is identified on
those pages and I will never see it.****
** **
I also noted that the number of mulatos baptized in Tamazula are abundant
in the late 1700's and absent in the 1800's. Were there efforts to
eliminate these distinctions in post-colonial Mexico?****
Thank you for any help****

I have to second what Linda says. My Carrillo line in Tamazula was also Ruiz
alias Carrillo ... I don't know the reason but that is the way the documents
are written. So I would suggest that you continue your search with that
possibility. As to your question on ethnicity being mentioned in later
records - yes, there was a deliberate effort made to stop the racial
distinctions.
-Angelina-
keep in mind too that once the Mulatos and Yndios married other nationalities they were now Mestiso's and for the Mulatos their children were now free..

Hey everyone --
As I've been trying to put together a family tree of my Pinedo line, I was thinking that I should share my progress for any others doing Pinedo research.
It's still a work in pro
Me he convertido hace unas semanas en miembro de Nuestros Ranchos y estoy a oscuras como ingresar a sus diferentes enlaces. Casi estoy perdido.
I was wondering if my ancestor Juan Ambrosio De Armas if possible be related
to Juan Armas Currion Born in Nochistlan on 26 march 1686
I have hit a deadend with this couple.
The father of Beatris is Joseph Ramirez de Mendoza (from the daughter's Dispensation).
Hello Deedra-
The following link is what I have for Geronimo de Anda. Most of this information is based on the dispensations listed under the section for Sources.

Saludos,

Austin,
Concerning what you have in http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/De_Anda_Altamirano-14
The first wife of Gerónimo de Anda Altamirano and mother of Lucas and Calixto was named Mariana as evidenced in the marriage of Lucas de Anda https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18447-378-86?cc=1874591&wc=1…
The name Catharina used in the dispensa of Bartolo Muñoz and María de San José de Anda was an error. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18447-378-86?cc=1874591&wc=1…
Beatriz Ramirez de Mendoza, the 2nd wife of Gerónimo de Anda Altamirano, was the daughter of Ana Muñoz de Hermosillo.

Hi Deedra, my name is Ann Marie Gutierrez and I'm doing the same search. I've
traced my grandfather, Jose H. Gutierrez 1879 to his father; Guadalupe
Gutierrez, 1853; Jose Blas Gutierrez, 1812; to Jose Manuel Gutierrez 1763;
he married Magdalena Martin Ayala.
Armando helped me a lot in searching for my family ancestors since I'm new at
this and he sent me an email with the following info.
Manuel Gutierrez was the son of Salvador Gutierrez de Mendoza and Mariana
Hurtado de Mendoza; married 16 Oct 1719 in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco. They had
a dispensation request dated 22 Aug 1719. Armando did a further search that
showed Salvador to be the son of Salvador Gutierrez de Mendoza and Damiana
Vazquez de Lara. He did a further search on Geneanet and found; Francisco
Gutierrez Rubio married to Ana Gonzalez Florida which just may be the first
Gutierrez and the source of our line. I was truly amazed with all the
research Armando did but unfortunately, I have not been as successful. I am new
at this and barely started researching my ancestors and it is NOT easy. I hit a
brick wall when it came to finding the actual birth records of Manuel
Gutierrez. If you find any further information please let me know. I would
certainly appreciate it. Likewise, if I find anything I will keep you
informed. Thank you.
Ann M. Gutierrez

Hello Everyone,
I am trying to do some research on my grandfather Trinidad Martinez, but have not been able o find his place of birth. I am using "familysearch.org/mexico-genealogy" He was born
John,
Sometimes it is difficult to find individuals from that recent period just
using the online familysearch.org search engine so you'll probably have to
resort to turning pages one by one first in San Miguel el Alto and then
expand your research to the area of AGS that you speculate he might have
been born:
https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1®ion=MEXICO
scroll down to Jalisco
https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/show#uri=http://www.fami…
rch.org/searchapi/search/collection/1874591
and to San Miguel el Alto:

ch.org%2Frecords%2Fwaypoint%2F12503115%3Fcc%3D187459
or for Civil Records:

ch.org%2Frecords%2Fwaypoint%2FMMBB-NHJ%3An604286422%3Fcc%3D1918187
now for Aguascalientes since you don't know the location your search will be
infinitely harder. Here is the link to the AGS records:

Hi John
I found some useful clues and info on the records of border crossing which I accessed through Ancestry.com. I think you can try it out through a trial version.
I saw who came across with whom, what town they came from in Mexico, and who they were going to stay with in the US,ages of the children and where they were born...This was for 1908 or 9. I had tried it on a lark, had always assumed they were undocumented, but I got lucky. Knowing specifically which town they came from has of course enabled me to narrow my searches.
