I've experienced the same problem, although I did receive 3 emails within the last 24 hours. I'm used to receiving at least 20 messages a week. Before yesterday I hadn't received anything in about a week. Something is definitely going on.

Joseph, thank you for adding your files.

As you know my aunt by marriage, Virginia Banuelos is decended from Jacinto Banuelos and Maria Bartola Cipriana de la Torre through thier son Jose Antonio Banuelos,  I did not have her parents in my files.  Can you tell me where you found an approximate date for her birth in Jerez?  Is the Banuelos family from Tepetongo or Jerez?

It's still exciting after so many years of researching to find another ancestor taking the line back another generation..

thank you again, Linda in B.C.

Hi Linda--

I found a record for a Bartola Sipriana de la Torre on familysearch.org. The place and date for this person makes me think that she is the same as the wife of Jacinto Banuelos-- this suspicion is very strong. I have not absolutely proven this, however. I have not yet located the marriage record for Jacinto and Bartola, as it is one of those missing from Jerez. I have tried looking at the films and have never found it; it either was destroyed or has not yet been filmed. Thus, I only have a strong feeling, but considering the uniqueness of the name and the location, I do believe Christobal and Maria to be her parents. I cannot go back any more generations for Jacinto until I find a record of him-- I do know that he and Bartola had children in Jerez, then Tepetongo, and they later lived in Huejucar, but no earlier trace of him has been located. Who Jacinto's parents were continues to be a mystery, although I think he does descend from the larger Banuelos family of Zacatecas.

Saint Cristobal Magallanes Jara's relatives in Peoria, Illinois

I wanted to share the fact that I was recently contacted by a priest in the Peoria, Illinois diocese for some help confirming the relationship of some men in the diocese to Saint Cristobal Magallanes Jara. He had found my database online and I was able to trace the men's mother's ancestry back to a shared common root to the Saint. Father Jared was kind enough to mention me in his article in the Catholic Post.

I've heard of these floods from the Jerezano newsletter I get on Yahoo. It seems there has been flooding in Jerez, and I wondered about that because it is in the mountains, no? But I guess the storms drop too much water too fast.

Does anyone know how I can obtain information about this rancho. "EL PAPELOTE EN JALISCO"? I have tried looking it up on the internet and found nothing at all. No census or if it even exists? Can anyone tell something about it or at least guide me. My paternal grandmother was from this rancho and I can't find anything on her either. Her name CAMILA ESTRADA born abt. 1894 passed away around 1937. I wonder if San Juan de Los Lagos would be a place to find some kind of documents on her.

Pedro Fernandez de Vaulus

Has anyone been able to trace information on the place of birth and the name of the parents of Pedro Fernandez de Vaulus?

Comment

I have heard two Navarra (Pamplona) or Aragón. But no evidence, I seen it on the NEw México Society. Supposedly Vaulus is of French Origin hence Aragón in Spain. -Daniel

Daniel, John and Bill,
I was looking for Pedro Fernandez de Vaulus in PARES under a variety of combinations trying to locate his voyage to Nueva Espana and perhaps more information on this individual's family. None of the Pedro's Fernandez located suggested a connection with our Pedro. I finally searched for Siordia and got the following hit:

Could this Pedro Hernandez (de Siordia) be Pedro Fernandez de Vaulus? Given that at the time the usage of H and F were equivalent (Hernan=Fernan, Hierro=Fierro) we can assume the surnames are the same. Also, one of the three daughters of Pedro Fernandez de Vaulus and Maria Gabay was named Juana de Siorida, just like the mother of this Pedro from Pamplona that travelled to New Spain in 1566 with new Viceroy DON GASTON DE PERALTA, marqués de Falces, his employer. This Pedro was single, he may have been young (perhaps 16), making him about 40 when he married Maria. I guess if we could check on some records for Pamplona for a Pedro Hernandez and Juana de Siordia, and were to find a Vaulus connection, this matter could be settled.

What do you think?

Comment

>From my opinion this is a hard one, but funny how he is also from Pamplona, I once read in the NMGS (New Mexico Genealogical Society) that stated he was from Pamplona or near Aragon, but didnt see a source. The switching of the H and F is for sure it was common depending what part of Spain you came from, some pronounced the H and F and other parts vice versa (today the H is silent in Modern Castilian. Personally I do think that is him, because of Juana Siordia, its possible he took on Vaulaus as a new surname, it was common back then families often changed their last names to signify a new beginning or house. How many my times my maternal family changed it di Montanara>>>(da Camino di Treviesi) da Camino, de Camino, Gutiérrez del Camino, del Camino, Pérez de Camino>>>Pérez del Camino, now my descendants will take on Méndez del Camino. I think Valaus is where he was born. I just think we need to keep an eye out for this, I will see what I can dig up on his parents. -Daniel

Comment

Jaime,

I think you hit it on the head. As you said, it is not unusual to find the surname "Fernandez" written "Hernandez", like "fierro" and "hierro", "foja" and "hoja" etc. Siordia is NOT a common name, so the possibility of having a Pedro Hernandez, the son of Pedro Hernandez and Juana de Siordia, sail from Spain in 1566 and marry Maria Gabai ca.1580 is good. It fits the timeline. Furthermore, the fact that he named his three daughters Maria, like his wife, Petrona, like his mother-in-law (Petronila de Moctezuma) and Juana, like his own mother, makes sense. Juana was better known as Joana de Siordia. She first married Bernardo Salado, a descendant of Joanes de Salado, Escribano de la Real Audiencia de Guadalajara (I believe he was his son) and when he died she married Francisco Rodriguez Ponce in San Juan de los Lagos. I'm glad you found this important bit of information. I will check other documents and let you know if I find a discrepancy.

Hello Patricia--
I was wondering if it is possible to send me the index to me about the Book on Heráldica y Blasones Apellidos? If it is too much! Mostly interested on the Camino, my mother's family were and still are in the nobility in Santander and northern España. (Might be listed as Pérez de, del, CAmino or simply as del Camino.)

To Patricia Burton:

Would you be willing to look up Juan Fernandez de Padilla? The initial
information I found listed him as son of Pero Lopez de Padilla (el viejo)
married to Juana Garcia de Ayala

However, I later found info that listed this Juan Fernandez as married to
Alondra Ponce de Leon.....And possibly his grandson (same name) married to
Juana Garcia de Ayala.

I don't know how much info this book actually has on the Padilla line -
thought it might help me straighten this out.

Thanks,

Daniel you mentioned that you are familiar with the Ayalas in the 12-14

Bañuelos

Hi Anita--

I've been working on an extensive Banuelos family tree from Ranchos Las Bocas, located close to Huejucar (not too far from Tepetongo and Juanchorrey). I did not locate the names you mentioned in my tree, but I suspect that your Banuelos branch is related to mine.

Dear Rosalinda: Yes, it appears that this one is my tree. On Marcelo Gonzalez Banuelos christening record, maternal grandparents are shown as Cleto Banuelos and Clemencia Carlos. Their only child I have found is Maria de Jesus Banuelos (her last name was misspelled as Barriento). So do our lines cross and if so, where? Thanks for answering. Anita

Well, the record I sent you apparently is for a son of Cleto and Clemencia, German. He may have died when he was young, and he appears to be the brother of Maria de Jesus. If you are able to look at Gemrna's baptismal record, it may identify Cleto's and Clemencia's parents's names. Then we can use those names to see how/if we are connected. I have a sneaky suspicion that our Banuelos lines do cross, but we will need Cleto's parents names to help us.

Hi Anita--

I apologize for the delay in my response--

I was unable to trace that Banuelos couple in my tree, but I still suspect they are connected to my family in some way-- the time and place of your family coincide with my family. By the way, I did poke around on familysearch.org for the other couple you mentioned, and it looks like you can trace your family back additional generations, especially in the Monte Escobedo area. I have completed extensive research on the Banuelos family in the Huejucar area, and while I have collected many Banuelos from the Tepetongo area, I still need to explore more. The problem is that Paulino and Josefa apparently did not have any other children that could be traced through the fmailysearch.org website, which means a thorough search of the Tepetongo and Jerez records is needed, which is time consuming.

I think we should keep in touch in case our ancestral paths cross, which I think they will.

Style of genealogical report from FTM?

What is the name of the style name of the genealogical report that you run on the Family Tree Maker?

Sandoval, the report we run that lays out names and descendants by generation is called an Ahnentafel report. In Familytree Maker you will find it like this:

1) make sure your main person (or person for whom you want to pull a report for) is selected (dark blue)

2) in the main menus at the top click on the "publish" logo

3) under "publication types" menu on the left, select "genealogy reports"

4) then double-click on "ahnentafel" and the program will begin to work. once the report is viewable on the screen, the menu on the right can help you to make adjustments such as: selecting how many generations to include and whether you want a colorful design as a backdrop (these come with the program).

I hope this helps..

Hi,
I was very much interested in the discussion in Spanish of the evolution of

Hi Corrine,

first of all many thanks for your information about the baptism records of the Huicholes and Apaches.

In regards to the tributes of the "indios" to the colonia I see it that way, that any organized society is based on social economics. The indigenous population had to be baptized (and in the same time registered) in order to get theirs share of tax contribution as well ... and the church had a very good record keeping system. At the early times it was to pay in kind of natural produce or in labor. Those taxes was needed for example for infrastructure. Same as today.

Sorry about my English, is not my native language.

Vasquez in San Sebastian

I have not posted since my introduction when I joined a few months ago but since then I have ordered the film for my great-grandparent's marriage. They were married in San Diego De Alejandria, Jalisco. The film is very blurry and hard to read. My Spanish is also a little rusty but I was able to make out that my great-grandmother Cenorina Vasquez, daughter of Jose Eduviguez Vasquez and (it looks like) Demetina Vazquez, was from San Sabastian. I have not been able to find anything further. No baptism files, no marriage records from her parents. I don't even know where San Sebastian is. I had read an email from this group that San Sabastian was in someone's research. i can't find that email but does that someone happen to recognize these names or know where it is? Any information that anyone has would be greatly appreciated!

Dear Ann:
Sadly none of the San Miguel records I have are from San Sabastian. Good luck on your search though. It is so great to make new discoveries and to learn about the culture and lives of our ancestors. You will find some records very legible and soon become used to the old style writing and the Spanish. I started with very little Spanish at all. Many of the records are set up much the same, so after a while you will start learning the words. Freetranslation.com is a big help too, but don't forget to use the accents on the letters. Remember some words in Catholic documents are not Spanish at all, but Latin as we learned from earlier posts.

Thank you for the tips. I will keep searching for a Vasquez connection but
in the meantime I have ordered some more films from the Rubio line. Perhaps
this will give me some practice reading the records. Thanks for your help.

I descend from Rubio de Monnroy. Diego Rubio and Luisa de Monrroy came from Valladolid, SPain thats how the compound name was created. I also descend from the other Rubio's. I think that both Rubios are related since they both came from Valladolid.

I don't know which family I am from...yet! So far I have gone back to Josef
Bernardo Rubio married to Ana Marmolejo sometime in the late 1770's. They
are my gggg-grandparents. I have not found any record of their marriage
only their children's baptisms in San Diego de Alejandria, Jalisco. Below I
have listed my ancestors that I have found but some I am still waiting on
films to verify.

Jose Vargas Rubio
Lucas Rubio m Josefa Vargas
Emiliano Rubio m Senorina Vasquez
Jose Domingo Rubio m Maria Clemencia Padilla
Gregorio Rubio m Maria Sebastiana

Josef Bernardo Rubio m Ana

I seem to be stuck here. Any advice you can give is appreciated.

Ann, I too am searching for records in San Sebastian. When I first joined this site ten months ago (or longer) I gave a brief synopsis of what my friend's family had been told about the birth place of Domingo Plazola (born abt 1896), his brother, Luis, perhaps a sister who married a Vasquez, and the mother Jacinta Gonzales. I found the birth record of Luis in San Sebastian del Orest films. San Sebastian del Oreste is a former mining town up near the northern border of Jalisco and up in the mountains east of the Sea of Cortez. I am helping the son of Domingo. Although he speaks and reads Spanish, he is in his mid 70s, has poor eyesight, and doesn't have a clue about of record keeping in Jalisco. Since I speak and read Spanish based on a word by word ability, I am frustrated by my lack of skills in researching. I can't grasp the difference between ranchos, villages, and record depositories. You've given me reason to go back and try again. Thanks.

Dear Ann:
I looked in my family file and sadly my Vasquez's are from Rancho Balverde, San Miguel, but since some of the lines I have not linked yet (so I did not enter the grandparents) I will have to look at by hand. I will do that in the coming week. I did a check on all your names and nothing came up. I did find another daughter of Emiliano Rubio and Cenorina in familysearch.org. It is Maria Teodora Rubio, baptized 4/3/1885 Santa Maria de Guadalupe, Arandas Jalisco, batch I036514. For some reason it did not give me the years and the film number on that one. I do not know why. Anyway, Cenorina is spelled Senorina in that document, so look for alternate spellings. Also on the Vasquez name, look also for Vazques, Vasquez and Basques. I will check later in the week on the San Miguel records, some of the baptisms were in the same time period of 1860 to 1895. My Matio Alviso maried a Casimira Vasques, but I did not record her parents. I will look into that also and let you know.

Saludos Ann,

By your posting, I presume that the marriage record of your g-grandparents is from the Registros Parroquiales of La Inmaculada Concepcion in San Diego de Alejandria, and you may be interested in reading a small article about the history and characteristics of this Municipality (San Diego de Alejandria) via the following link:
http://www.e-local.gob.mx/work/templates/enciclo/jalisco/mpios/14072a.h…

Also, I believe, because of its proximity, that the San Sebastian you seek is most likely one in the Municipality of Arandas.

I hope that these items may prove of interest, and even productive, to you.

Thank you for taking the time. I am so excited about the responses I have
gotten. Also, the following might help if you have any of the names in your

was 20 at the time--So born about 1864. I didn't get any hits on siblings
but I probably have her mother's first name wrong. I know it starts with

I logged on to Google Earth, which has satellite locations of all Earth (which you can zoom in and see the actual towns, buildings, houses, and even cars and people) and it states that there are several San Sebastians in Mexico.

Zacatecas, Vera Cruz, Monterey, Jalisco, Mexico City, and Baja California Sur.

Which site do you think it is?

Jose Carlos de Leon

Comment

I am thinking it is probably Jalisco. San Sebastian is the only thing it
said on the certificate. They were married in San Diego de Alejandria,
Jalisco. From what I can make out, her husband, Emiliano Ruvio 'originated'
from Rancho Seco and lived in los Colonias. I don't know where Los Colonias
is but I did find Rancho Seco, it was near San Diego de Alejandria. I have
searched all around that area but I have not seen anything about San
Sebastian. Thank you for the Google Earth tip. I had not ever seen that
site.

Hello all,

There's a rancho named SAN SEBASTIAN in San Francisco del Rincon,
Guanajuato, which is like 10 or 15 min away from San Diego de Alejandria.
This rancho, according to INEGI has no population as of today.

Hello Cristóbal, this is Daniel Méndez del camino, I also am related to the Alba, Nava, and Lomelin and Pedrosa lines. Remember for Spaniards it wasnt alaways to take the father's name. In this case I believe it is her granparents who are Alba, she was named after her gm, so she never used Pedrosa. Spaniards didnt adopt the two surname system until the early 1800's during Las Reformas Borbónicas, where the Bourbons came to the throne and changed our spanish society forever. -Daniel P.S. what is your pedrosa line, I can help you alot, with Pedrosa

Marcos (de la Pedrosa) I use this as my standard for all the family. Also seen, de la Pedraza, Pedraza, Pedroza and such. Was son of Santiago de la Pedrosa and Juana Bautista de Alba born ca. 1590 in Lagos de Moreno. Juana Bautista de Alba daughter of Joseph Alonso DE ALBA
and Leonor Vásquez de Retamosa also related to the retamosas of Los Altos somehow. They were born ca. 1565. Marcos' wife María López de Nava daughter Mateo de Macías y Valadés and Catalina López de Nava. Mateo was son of Nicolás de Macías y Valadés and and the same Leonor Vásquez de Retamosa as the other couple, she married both Alba and Macías. Nicolás was son of Blas de Macías y Valadés born ca. 1525 in México City I think I know who his parents might be. If my research is correct he should be the son of the conquistador Alonso de Macías y Valadés , hence why we see about 12 Alonso in the family! that Conquistador was from Evora, Portugal son of Juan de Macías y Valadés born ca. 1470. Back to Catalina López de Nava she is daughter of ALonso Lorenso de la Guerra native of Asturias, España born ca. 1567 and María López de Nava. This María was daughter of Juan López de Nava a spanish hidalgo and Inés López de Nava.

Flores.

Hello Cole, I assume you mention the Flores de la Torre family? I do have a good chunk of their genealogy done but still missing about 30% of it I think. I am currently getting all descendants as possible for all Spanish families ranging 1565-1890. So it take a while, but with all our interrmarriages the Flores took an importan part marrying into other prominant families. What do you have or want to know, I might have it if its early enough. I just finished Romos, Esparza and Tiscareño about 2 weeks ago, it took about 1 1/2 months to finish just these three families. -Daniel

Hi Daniel,

My grandmother's grandmother was a Flores. Her name was Margarita Flores,
married to Narciso Salas. I'm currently looking specifically toward a
Sephardic connection, though having any information to this name would be
nice because the results would more or less confirm it(as..if they were
Sephardic, it'd mean they were and if not, clearly they're not).

All I know is her daughter, Maria Salas, was born in Val Paraiso
around..............1897? She married Jesus Rivas, who was the son of a
wealthy haciendado. All I know is she was from a somewhat poor family of
Valparaiso,Zacatecas,Mexico. Jesus' sisters weren't happy about it...and
eventually at the time of the Revolution 2 of her brothers were assassinated
while being Revolutionaries.

José,

I've been researching the early settlers of Aguascalientes for about five years, but have found very few Aguayos living there. Most were from Nochistlán, but by the 17th century they could be found all over Altos de Jalisco, i.e. Teocaltiche, Lagos de Moreno, Jalostotitlán, etc. Most of my research has been centered on the 16th and 17th centuries. However, I've also checked many church records of the 18th century. Here is what I found in Aguascalientes:

- Diego de Aguayo, a native of Teocaltiche, wed Gertrudis Lozano Macías in Aguascalientes 12 Jan 1696. Their daughter Petrona de Aguayo was baptized on 29 Jan 1703 in Aguascalientes. The parents of Diego de Aguayo were Antonio de Aguayo and Elvira González.

- Nicolás Durán de Aguayo, a native of Nochistlán, wed María Francisca Ruiz de Esparza on 05 Mar 1669 in Aguascalientes. They resided in Nochistlán where their children Nicolás, María, Juana, Felipe, Juan and Isabel Durán were born.

- Joseph Altamirano de Castilla wed Juana de Soto y Carvajal, aka Juana de Aguayo, 20 Jul 1639 in Guadalajara. Their children Balthazar Fernando, Nicolás Antonio, Bernabé, Manuel, Josepha Ursula, Juan, María and Juana were born between 1644 and 1664 in Guadalajara, Nochistlán and Aguascalientes.

- Nicolás Aguayo married María Antonia Ruiz de Esparza. She was buried in Aguascalientes 03 May 1786.

- Felipe Aguayo married María Antonia Gil Gallardo. She was buried in Aguascalientes 29 Sep 1786.

- Juan de Irungaray married Ana de Aguayo. Their son Joseph de Irungaray married Manuela de Espitia 21 Oct 1688 in Aguascalientes.

The following books have information about the Aguayo:

1) "Nochistlán, Zacatecas. Su Parroquia, Los Durán y otras familias antiguas. Estudio Histórico-Genealógico" [Ing. Jesús Durán Rodríguez]

2) "Genealogía de Nochistlán Antiguo Reino de la Nueva Galicia en el Siglo XVII según sus Archivos Parroquiales" [José Luis Vázquez Rodríguez de Frías]

I have hit the proverbial brick wall on researching the surname Aguayo from the present back to the late 1700s in Aguascalientes. So I decided to try to locate the first Aguayos who came to the New World during the Conquest and work forward from them to see if their was a connection with my research working back. In September 2007, my wife and I visited Cantabria, Spain where legend has the Aguayo surname beginning. Allegedly there were three Goth brothers who participated in the reconquest of Spain during the 12th and 13th centuries. The family gave their name to the region of Aguayo and to three villages -- Santa Olallya de Aguayo, Santa Maria de Aguayo, and San Miguel de Aguayo. We visited all three villages, asked questions about the history of the region, and about the surname. The present villagers knew little about the surname, but we met Manuel Garcia Alonso, who has a home in San Miguel de Aguayo and is a professor at a university in Santander. Alonso has written Aguayo y los Aguayos, an ethnographic and historical study of the region. According to Alonso and other sources, the Aguayos were gone from the region by the 15th century. They continued fighting in the reconquest around Cordoba, Saenz, and Ejica. For their service to the various kings, they received titles and a coat of arms. This coat of arms is still visible on a Casa Fuerte in San Miguel de Aguayo where they apparently retained some ties to the area. Three Aguayo brothers from Portillo, Spain are listed in the Indice Geobiographico de Pobladores de America. Lorenzo de Aguayo apparently was a member of the Panfilo de Narvaez expedition sent to arrest Cortez in Mexico in 1521. Cortez succeeded in subduing the Narvaez party and getting them to join him in the conquest of Mexico. Lorenzo Aguayo died in that campaign. Diego de Aguayo died in the Cristobal de Olid expedition to Honduras in 1532. Antonio de Aguayo campaigned with Nunez de Guzman in Nuevo Galicia in 1542 and received small encomiendas around Purificacion. His descendants are listed up to the early 1700s in Vasquez y Frias, Genealogia de Nochistlan Antiguo Reino de la Nueva Galicia en el Siglo XVII Segun sus Archivos Parroquiales. I would greatly appreciate information anyone might have about these Aguayos. My hope is that their lineage will connect to mine somewhere in the mid-1700s.

Jose,

Escribiste: Antonio de Aguayo campaigned with Nunez de Guzman in Nuevo Galicia in 1542 and received small encomiendas around Purificacion.

The Myth of the Three Brothers

Jose Aguayo, Welcome to the Group. Sorry, I don't have any information on the Aguayo surname. But your post reminded me of the myth of the three brothers. I read this article once that spoke in detail of the myth. I did a quick internet search and this was the best article I found:

New- villalobos/losano

Cristobal,

I found a marriage record in Teocaltiche for FERNDO. DE VILLALOBOS, Spouse: MARIA MARCIANA LOZANO, 23 OCT 1769, on film 0639757, batch M602489(1768 - 1782) in the IGI. When I found the baptism records you have listed below the mother was identified as "Maria Lozano." I don't know if she is Nicolasa or Marciana. I suggest you check the record in the Teocaltiche film.

I also found a marriage record for Jose Manuel De Villalobos, Spouse: Maria Rosalia De Tejeda, 17 Jan 1779, on film 0639757, batch M602489(1768 - 1782) in the IGI. If you check this record you can see if he has the same parents as Fernando. I could not find any record of Jose Manuel married to Nicolasa Losano.

I also found an earlier marriage to Maria de Jesus Gusman in #1155497. I'll look at it tonight and send you the information. Let me know if you wish to have a copy of the record.

>>David, I have been a member for a while, but personal matters are keeping me from pursuing extensively my ancestral history. But I have followed your wonderful work with awe. Your mention of the Romo family in Encarnación suggests a connection with my family from that area. I have learned from the registros parroquiales of Encarnación de Díaz (film #1155499) that my GGGGF José de los Santos Romo de Vivar y Cornejo was married on 29 May 1861 to María Guadalupe Pedroza. I have extensive family documentation of Santos life, some of it written by his wife, but only the names of his antecedents.
>>
>>In those parish records, Santos' parents are listed as Pablo Romo (my GGGGGF) and María de la Asención Cornejo, whose marriage is documented in registros parroquiales for José Pablo Romo(christened 28 Mar 1807, per film #1155173 Batch No: C602692, married 18 Nov 1822 in Encarnación).
>>
>>And finally, the following record from the registros parroquiales of Encarnación de Díaz , which lists the father and mother of José Pablo Romo, as well as his grandparents.
>>---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>>: Jose Pablo ROMO VILLALOBOS
>>Sex: M
>>
>>Event(s):
>>Christening: 28 Mar 1807 Place: Encarnación de Díaz, Jalisco, Mexico
>>
>>Parents:
>>Father: Gregorio ROMO
>>Mother: Dolores VILLALOBOS
>>
>>Grandparents:
>>Father's Father: Bernabe ROMO
>>Father's Mother: Gertrudis FRANCO
>>Mother's Father: Manuel VILLALOBOS
>>Mother's Mother: Josefa ARANDA
>>---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>>I have documented the marriage of Gregorio and Dolores in the registros parroquiales, but my ability to trace my family back into the 18th century stops at Bernabe and Gertrudis, and Manuel and Josefa. I cannot find them in records from Encarnación de Díaz and am guessing that they were neither born nor married in Encarnación. Do you have any information about this branch of the Romo de Vivar family or the other associated families (Cornejo, Villalobos, Franco, Aranda and Pedroza) which would set me on course into the 18th century?
