I have been researching the Rangel line for my mother-in-law, Consuelo Rangel, who was born in 1920 in San Luis Potosi and she will turn 92 years old this year.

Rafael,

I'm reading this page of a dispensa from 1805 and I'm trying to figure if the three individuals named (Nicolas Viramontes, Carlos Gonzalez, and Seferino Gonzalez) are related to the the bride and groo
Arturo,
I see the following: "... todos dentro del segundo grado de los pretensos ...". This means that all three men are related to both 'pretensos' in the second degree. Hope this helps you.

The word I can't make out is the one just after "Gonzalez," and before "dentro".
As far as second degree consanguinity, is this limited to first cousins, or could this also include, for example, grandparents and uncles?
I'm hoping that the word I can't make out will narrow down which type of relationship these folks have with the couple.
Arturo, its says "dentro del segundo grado..."
This PDF should also help you figure out which family members are included in second degree. http://www.spido.info/legislacion/murcia/permisosylicencias/consanguini…
Hope this helps.

Thanks for this Claudia, and also for the great work you're doing on the Guadalajara dispensas.
As far as the relationships go, Seferino Gonzalez, Carlos Gonzalez and Nicolas Viramontes are not the grandparents as shown in the family tree, so they would have to be brothers (or brothers in law). I can see Nicolas Viramontes being the brother of Antonia Viramontes, but I'm not sure that Seferino or Carlos Gonzalez are brothers of the groom or bride.
If this Seferino Gonzalez is the same from a wedding in 1796, his parents are Jose Maria Gonzalez and Gertrudis Valdovinos, and was born around 1771, 9 years prior to the birth of groom. Since brothers and sisters tended to married into the same family, I suspect that Rita Gonzalez (the mother of the groom) is the sister of Jose Maria, and Gertrudis is the sister of Esteban Valdovinos (the father of the groom). That would make Seferino the cousin of the groom, Antonio. I don't have any information about Carlos Gonzalez, but since his last name isn't Valdovinos, he would have to be a half-brother in order for the second-degree relationship to hold.
Regardless, looks like the relationships weren't cleared up after all by this document. Hopefully the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle will fall into place with more information.
Im trying to find the parents of Nicolas Ballin he married Petrona Ramires does any one have any info?
That was answered the first time you made a thread on them. Reread the
thread and look up everything mentioned within it. You will find your
answer by doing that. The thread is at

Armando,
Thanks but i already read it and got no info on Nicolas Ballins parents. It's just so confusing how their are like 5 petronilas petronas petra and also with different last names that makes it even more challenging for me.And im looking for one specific Nicolas Ballin and one specific Petronila Ramires, parents.
I brought to light the dispensa for Josefa a daughter of Nicolás Vallín and
Petrona Ramirez and granddaughter of Victoria de Sotomayor.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18566-43995-45?cc=1874591&wc…
Therefore we have proof that the husband of Petrona Enríquez de Calderón,
alias Petrona de Isla, was also the husband of Petrona Ramirez.
Since Petrona Enríquez de Calderón, alias Petrona de Isla, married Nicolás
Ballin de Sotomayor which was recorded recorded 26 Jun 1692 in
Aguascalientes and a month later 28 Jul 1692 in Nochistlán you can find the
names of his parents in those records.
LDS Film 0299823 Marriages 1663-1702 Aguascalientes, Ags.
LDS Film 0226725 Marriages 1691-1736 Nochistlán, Zac.
However the names of his parents are in that same thread in a post by Bill
Figueroa. I think you should be able to find the parents now.

Abram
Ballin or Vallin, It's not as common as Gonzalez or Gutierrez but it was and is common. It's found throughout the Nueva Galicia Region. Jalisco, Zacatecas and Aguascalientes and even into Guanajuato, San Luis Potosi and Nayarit.

Yes, Nicolas Vásquez Vallin and Victoria de Sotomayor are the parents of,
Nicolas Vásquez Vallin, the husband of Petrona Ramírez.
Vallín is from Spain according to www.linajes.net which says -
Asturias y Cantabria.*

tioallan,
Thank you so much.I understood like a small portion of that like around where it said de otro pueblo and thats where i could not read it at all the writing back then was very hard to read.
Adrián and Abram:
It says "dho pueblo" for "dicho pueblo" and not "otro pueblo". It was
common to use this abbreviation in sacramental records.

Dear friends,
The blog at www.GuadalajaraDispensas.com is down temporarily and will be back up in a few days.
It hasn't been "taken over" or anything of the sort. I posted an update about this yesterday at the official G+, Twitter and Facebook profiles for the blog.

I have been researching my family line in Zacatecas, Mainly the Tejada's who lived in Corrales,Zac.which is under the [Jiménez del Teúl,San Andrés Apóstol] records.
I have noticed that when I read the blood line designation that the baptism record and the marriage record don't always coincide.
Being a spanish gave you a sociopolitical advantage. Being a meztizo could ostracize you from the spanish or the Native populations. Meztizo children born from a spanish dad will most likely be called spanish if the father recognized them.
Another question along the same lines: were there any known
social/economic implications/effects from being designated Yndio, Mulatto, Meztizo,
Espanol, etc?
remember the Mother was not at the baptism and most information is coming from the way the baby looks and the godparents. I have one family with 5 children, Father was Yndio, Mother was Espanola, children are listed as Espanol, Yndio, Mestiso, Mulato Libre and Espanol. From all the mistakes I've found on the names I also wonder if the information was given but not always written down at the same time causing the parents, grandparents and godparents getting put in the wrong order.

Subject: [Nuestros Ranchos] General question on blood line designations
I have noticed that when I read the blood line designation that the baptism record and the marriage record don't always coincide. In one the family member will be designated mestizo and in the other Espn. Does anyone understand why this would happen? My guess is maybe the priest didn't ask and just made a judgment from looking at the individuals.
Another question I have just come across is a baptism record where the individual was listed as hija legitima but then only the mothers name was listed. Any insight would be appreciated, I'm thinking maybe the father died before the birth but this is just a guess because I can't figure out how the baby would be legitimate if the mother didn't have a spouse.

Thank you for letting us join the group. We are researching mainly Escovedo (Escobedo) family geneology in Zacatecas.
Surnames Researching
Escobedo (Escovedo)
Broines
Rojas
This is what I found in FamilySearch for Claro Escovedo (Escobedo) married
to Remigia Rojas with the following children: In reverse order Jose Sotero
Escobedo, ch. 5 May 1889, Chalchihuites, Zacatecas; Antonio Escobedo, b. 27
June 1887, Chalchihuites, Zacatecas (married to Altagracia Briones)
This is the first child to Claro and Remigia Rojas: Je. Florentino
Octaviana de Jesus Escobedo, ch. 22 March 1885, Suchil, Durango. So do you
think that maybe they started off in Durango before going on to Zacatecas?
I would look for a marriage or matrimonial information in Durango and start
in 1884 and go back just in case they had other children before 1885? I'll
check a little but I think Bill and Armando may give you some better ideas.

WOW - we just added possibly 3 generations to our family tree.
Armando - how do you search through the handwritten church records? Visually look at each one or has someone made an index?
Thanks again,
Gary & Sarah Miller
You should easily be able to find at least a 4th generation by looking up
the baptisms. There isn't an index for Huejuquilla that I know of. As far
as searching for the digital copy of the baptism, I make a guess where the
record would be in the volume then jump back and forth until I find the
record I am looking for. Sometimes I can find a record in about six
attempts or 10 to 15 minutes depending the quality of the image and the
handwriting.

Here is a Census of Rancho De Los Maderas (Rincon) of Huejuquilla, Jalisco, Mexico during the year 1830.
Wow,
This will be an amazing conference, I wish I could go, but I know I can't.
